The Bone Cavern
Located in an offshoot cavern from the Shakai Moss Gardens, The Bone Cavern is one of the few places that cannot normally be located without a guide or specific instructions. The proprietor, Kessal, normally doesn't want to be found, preferring to let his assistant, Davan, lead his next customer to his cavern. However, there are a few in The Spires who know where to look, and if one asks the right questions then someone will usually be able to give an answer. Most of the citizens don't have much to do with Kessal, seeing as his craft is not the most savory, but they let him practice in peace as long as he does not cause any harm. A maledictor who is a friend is much better than an enemy, the common phrase that is said by most citizens.
The shop, or lab, was set up a few years before the Djed Storm passed through. Most of the citizens learned about it through word of mouth or when some of their objects were stolen and just so happened to turn up in his cavern. At first, the city's inhabitants couldn't explain the strange thefts, but that was only until Davan began to lead those citizens to the actual shop where Kessal offered them his services, which many citizens benefited from his creations. Kessal could provide them with amulets and charms to help with their day to day lives, as well as weapons for those who wished to better themselves. All of these items came with a price though, although Kessal never asked for money. Most citizens always give a good warning to those who actively seek the maledictor........always be prepared to bargain and expect the unexpected.
Kessal
Name: Kessal Mordue Race: Human DoB: Spring, 470 AV PoB: Syliras Skills: Malediction 77, Auristics 74, Blacksmithing 62, Intelligence 58, Drawing 45, Stealth 38 History: Kessal was never one to sit still for long periods of time, his natural curiosity of the world driving him to explore and spy or many different things. Born in Syliras to a modest family, Kessal was taught early on that you had to work for what you got, his parents putting a special emphasis on putting him into a craft that would serve him well throughout life. So he worked as an assistant to a blacksmith, but Kessal's nose could always be found in a book or out exploring before he was found holding a hammer. This interest was soon noticed by the local alchemist, who was really a maledictor by night. The man approached the boy one day, showing him what other options he had by letting the boy watch him in his craft. Kessal was instantly hooked on the rather obscure craft, and often unsavory at times. Why should he work a hard life when he could make whatever he wanted to improve his own? So his double education soon began, blacksmithing by day, malediction by night. As he grew older, Kessal grew restless, deciding that it was high time he left to find better options....and materials....to work with with his newfound love. His travels eventually brought him to the Spires and his most recent assistant, Davan. Together they were able to set up shop underground near the Shakai Moss gardens, and find plenty of materials for Kessal to continue his craft and somewhat shady business. Kessal's greatest ambition is to maledict a Jamoura's skull, although he would never openly admit it, but has never risked going to the sacred ground to collect one. Davan
Name: Davan Race: Kelvic Gambian Rat DoB: Unknown PoB: The Spires Skills: Leatherworking 57, Tanning 49, Stealth 42, Larceny 38, Anatomy 37 Davan has very little memories of his early life, only knowing that it was spent wandering the forest before coming to The Spires. During his time there he spent most of it watching the others go about their daily lives, and stealing to keep himself alive. Naturally suspicious of everyone, he kept to his Kelvic form and made due with what he could pilfer from homes and stores. One day he stumbled across the leatherworking shop, finding that he couldn't take anything from the shop other than the pelts that were hanging throughout the shop. Daven couldn't get over the fact that they were from real animals, and so he spent many days watching the owners cure and tan the hides, making them fit to mold into different creations. This left am impact on his young mind, and often at night he attempted to copy what he had watched the owners do, even turning out some fairly well done pelts. His new found hobby didn't keep him from pilfering from others though, and one night he attempted to pilfer from a traveler that perhaps was more than his match that particular night. That was how he met Kessal, the man that he had followed ever since that chance meeting. Kessal allows Davan to practice his hobby freely in return for his services when Kessal needs them for malediction, and Daven happily serves him of his own free will. Products and Training
Products: When wanting a product from Kessal, always be prepared to bargain. There are no set prices, and in fact, Kessal asks for no money at all....but everything has its own price. "If you can think of it, then I can make it." His most noteworthy phrase.
Training: Malediction Auristics Leatherworking
