Summer 86th 512 AV Coren was making his way through the recently recovered frozen falls market, ignoring the many calls of the merchants who plied their wares to everybody who would stop and listen, he also kept his gaze firm ahead and tried to ignore the stares of the simpletons who had recognized him from the rumors that had started since that fateful night that seemed ages ago but only was a season ago. “Hey you!” Coren stopped as somebody grabbed his sleeve, a scowl crept on his face as he turned around and glared at the woman. “What do you want?” He asked in a cold tone as his eyes flashed golden. He had endured enough harassment, slanderous rumors and fearful glances during this season already and his surprisingly vast amount of patience had been slowly eroded away over the course of it. “I..wel.. I think I.. might have something that could interest you...sir mage” The short vantha woman managed to stutter out squirming under coren's gaze. He got a wry smile underneath his mask, it seemed that people fearing you had its benefits after all. They where a lot easier to frighten. “Do I look as if I'm interested in jewelry or some other minor trinkets?” He continued in that same cold tone. “Now if you don't have anything else to say, leave me be.” The woman however shook her head. “I'm... not talking about... trinkets sir mage.” The woman continued in that damnable stutter before she took a deep breath and continued on in a more stable tone. “I'm just a simple merchant of various odds and ends I manage to find. And I think I found a tome about something magical... I thought you might be interested in it.” Now that statement caught coren's attention. “Oh really? You mind showing me this tome?” He asked, in a noticeably more amiable tone. “I don't have it on me at the moment, I don't trust it enough to carry it around. but I have it at my stand which isn't that far away, so if you would follow me?” Coren contemplated this, he didn't trust her but what could she do in the middle of a market, with all the icewatch around? So it probably would be safe enough. After a few chimes of coren following her they finally arrived at her stand, he didn't give notice to the other things she had on display, they didn't intrest him. He patently waited as she was rummaging through the chaotic mess for a while before finally pulling out a plain but old looking leather bound book. The only defining feature was the title of the book on the front. 'Animation: a comprehensive guide.' He carefully took the book out of the woman's hands and slowly began to page through it being extra careful to not damage the book. “this indeed looks interesting.” He didn't know if it was legit, but the way djed was introduced in the intro at least was spot on. So at least whoever had written this knew more then the average man about magic. “how much would you ask for it?” “Honestly, I just want that book out of my store, getting hung up with magic only invites trouble. It still is worth 75golden rimmed miza's though.” the woman said as she held out her hand. Coren nodded and counted out the miza's she needed. “Pleasure doing bussines with you.” The woman said with an obviously fake smile. “now could you please go? You might be scaring away other customers.” Coren just nodded and took his purchase, not really caring about her anymore. He was more interested in going home and studying this new discipline. A smile crept on his face as he walked towards his home. Yes, this evening was going to be intresting. |
