Physical Description

Shadow appears to be an average sized man, about 5'8, with a somewhat thin body that has a bit of muscle and light Caucasian skin. He has a pointed face that holds a pair of reddish brown eyes that appear orange and thin lips. Shadow also has a slightly pointed nose and eyebrows that are just in-between being thick & thin. Besides that, Shadow has a slender neck and average sized ears. With all this, Shadow appears somewhat normal.

Behind his head, Shadow has short black hair that almost appears purple in the light and reaches down past his neck. This hair leads many to mistake him as a Raven or a Jackdaw. However, he in fact shifts into a red tailed hawk. Unfortunately, the only indication of this, besides his eyes, are his clothing. He is usually seen wearing a long orange and purple robe that's split in two like a pair of wings. It is made from feathers and animal skins woven together. Along with this, Shadow also wears an open gray shirt, brown pants, and a pair of brown boots.

Character Concept

Personality: Personality wise, Shadow is usually quiet and obedient towards most. He rarely shows emotion and is usually seen with a blank expression on his face. Whenever he does show emotion, his expression still remains a blank stare. It's strange, but Shadow never really "learned" to smile. What is there for him to smile for is usually the logic for this. Shadow doesn't usually find humor in anything.

Coincidentally, Shadow is rather affectionate and "happy" when he changes into his hawk form. Perhaps its because he prefers being a bird to being a human, but Shadow shows emotion often when a hawk. This often leads people to question whether Shadow is faking the whole "emotionless soul" thing.

Ethics: Shadow has a strong sense of loyalty, but he knows the difference between right and wrong. It is for this reason that he refuses some orders and won't serve just any master. However, when he does find a master he can serve, he follows them to death and protects them just as fiercely as a dog would.

Likes: Shadow loves to eat small animals like mice and squirrels, but he may also consume fish, worms, & a few insects. Besides those, Shadow likes people who are kind & gentle, flying around, and the view from high places.

Dislikes: Shadow hates eating pre-killed meat, plants, and those who steal from him. He also doesn't like the taste of other birds, since his old master wouldn't let him eat them, people who are cruel and disrespectful, and bird seed.

Character History

Pre-Creation: This kelvic was born in the Spring of 509 to two normal Red-Tailed Hawk kelvics. His mother was a beautiful red head with brown eyes while his father was a handsome man with long blue hair & golden eyes. They were both Kelvics serving a family of humans. In this family, there was a slender brunette woman with brown eyes, the master's wife; a lank man with short black hair, the master, who were in charge of everything. They were kind and excepted the unnamed kelvic baby as if he'd been there forever.

However, it wasn't them that he remembered the most. It was there daughter, a young brunette who greatly resembled her mother. She was the one who gave him the name "Shadow," after seeing how he giggled at seeing their shadows. After that, the girl, who's name was Leena, became Shadow's true master. He still served under Leena's father from time to time, but he was mostly Leena's personal hawk. Maybe it was because she named him, but Shadow felt closer to Leena than his own mother or father. He'd often do whatever he could to make her happy. Back then, Shadow was happy all the time. Unfortunately, this good life wouldn't last long.

He'd been living there for three years when Leena decided to send Shadow outside to catch some fish for himself. Shadow followed her orders and went out to get the fish. He'd have no idea that when he was gone, the house would be invaded by greedy humans who stole everything of value. Shadow's parents fought but couldn't best the large group of thieves. They died protecting the masters, who were also killed. These were no ordinary humans, but they were Mixed Blood Inarta, though noone knew what they were doing so far from Wind Reach. When Shadow came back, he found all the dead masters and his parents lying on the floor. However, Leena was thankfully able to survive.

After learning of what had happened, Shadow wanted to take Leena to safety and get revenge on the poachers. However, Leena said not of it. She wanted to get revenge herself and she wanted to do it alone. To make sure this would happen, Leena fed Shadow a drugged fish to knock him out. When he awoke, Shadow quickly realized what had happened. He didn't hesitate to rush to Leena's aid. Luckily, he was able to get to her before she was killed. However, she was pretty close to death.

Rushing over to her, Shadow would distract the Inarta long enough for Leena to get away, which was hard considering they had giant eagles. After leading the poachers as far away from Leena as possible, Shadow would barely manage to escape them and meet back up with Leena in a far away cave. There she apologized for what she did and Shadow promised to protect Leena. Over the next few months, Shadow and Leena spent their time traveling to try to somewhat get things back to normal. Then, on the Winter of 511 AV, Leena died of a fatal illness that Shadow had no idea she had had for years.

Before she died, Leena gave Shadow her curved dagger. Shadow still treasures that dagger to this day in memory of his twenty year old master.

Post Creation: It's been a couple months sense Leena passed away and now Shadow has become a traveling hawk looking for a master. Despite the fact that Mixed Blood Inartas killed Leena's parents, Shadow's search has led him to Wind Reach, where he hopes to find a master and perhaps learn a thing or two about the hunters who killed his family.
