Far below the water's surface is the living coralline city of the Charodae, Charbosi. Inaccessible to those who cannot breathe underwater, Charbosi is a city of culture and peace. [Lore]

Building My New Home

The day before Rin had packed her bag with, well really nothing besides her knife her herbalists toolkit, which the Konti kindly gifted to her, a week of food for herself and the clothes on her back. Which was plainly a shirt and pants made of Velispar Molt Leather. Molt of course, the Charodae wouldn't kill their prized Valispar for a bit of useless clothing. She had kissed her mom and pop goodbye and waved at both of her brothers and on of her sisters who still lived with the parents like she had and then just started swimming. She swan west, going as fast as she could without tiring herself out. She knew she would have to do some manipulation when she found a spot she liked, which would use quite a bit of energy.

On her journey she tried looking for the few underwater plants that the Konti had taught her. They were all plants that she could eat and she knew that would be useful out here in the middle of nowhere. Well, I'm always somewhere, she thought, no one was ever nowhere... The funny thing was that she had already forgotten the Kontis name. This girl who had taught her for a couple of days a few herbalist traits and pointed out and described a few plants before she gave her the toolkit and went on her merry way. Rin laughed to herself thinking that was a bit insesitive of her. Well, I won't ever see her again, so I don't see the point. She concluded in her mind.

On her way to her new home she saw a few plants that might have been what the Konti told her. She was so eager to begin that she would have gone and looked right then and there, except she knew she had to get whereever she was going before nightfall so she had time to manipulate the coral into a new home. She didn't think it would be a fancy ordeal, she didn't really need a nice house. Maybe just a small one to hold her things and whatever new thing she may find. You know Charodae, they all love stuff. But Rin had left almost all her stuff behind in her room at her parents house. She didn't have as much stuff as many other Charodae might, she was always so engrossed in her Architecture and Coral Manipulation that she really didn't find stuff a whole lot. Yeah, she had some ground dweller items she found that had fallen off ships and maybe a pearl or two, but she let her siblings dive into her things, she didn't need them anymore. Maybe she would reget it later, if her new thing didn't hold up, but right now she really didn't care. I can always find new stuff. She comforted, trying to forget her pearl which was back at home, probably in the hands of one of her siblings.

As she swam she was constantly looking around for a nice coral piece or coral reef that she could manipulate into a new home. It took her almost the whole day to find a good piece. But around dusk, just when the water was cooling and the light was dimming she found a nice piece of yellow coral resting on a reef. She liked the color it was and to be honest it wasn't in a bad spot. The reef was large around her and held many plants and coral that she could study. It also held and abundant fish population that she could befriend and maybe study if that in turn pleased her. Right next to the coral was a heated sea vent, which Rin smiled at. how could her luck get any better? Her coral was right on the edge of the reef and looked out into the expanse of the sand and seaweed landscape that she liked. A lonely place to one side, and a bright colorful, full space on the other side. She liked it, and so she began.

Her coral was a big piece of coral, maybe the height of two people and the width of three. That would help her in the long run, tire her out less than starting with a small piece. Before she even got started she needed as much energy as possible. She took out some seaweed, Wine Kelp to be exact, and munched on it's wine tasting goodness. Rin loved the Wine Kelp and she decided that this was best for energy for today. She had no Sweet Reeds with her, but if she did she would have used them instead. They had more sugar, more energy. But she eat what she had and that was Wine Kelp and then set to work.

Actually Wine Kelp, Sugar Reed and Laviku Gourds were the only plants she knew. The only ones that the Konti had taught her. Yeah she ate different kinds of food, but she didn't know anything about them except maybe a name. And maybe Rin was thinking to far ahead here, she tended to do that, but she wanted to grow these plants near her new home, she wanted to know everything about plants.

but before she could do any of that she had to build he new home. She wanted it pretty, even if it was just going to be a storage unit. She likes pretty and she thought she had the skills to make it pretty enough. She began by touching the pretty yellow coral, thinking of what she wanted it to become. A small abode, a domed top about 15 feet tall and maybe a 20x20ish circular room. She only needed one room. She felt the Djed of the coral under her fingertips and coaxed it into moving. Under her palms she felt the coral stir as it began to grow. Smiling she moved her hands, guiding the coral in different directions. It yellow skeleton moved obediently under her leathery hands. It grew slow but efficient and she swam up an over, guiding it with her own Djed.

First she created a wall. A small 5 foot wall that bent down to the sandy sea floor. She filled the wall and thickened it with her hands, slowing layering the coral upon each other. In time the first 5 foot wall became a few inches thick and she thought that would suffice in any water storm or raging sea dweller. She slowly built up the coral to 10 feet, thickening it as she went. She spoke softly to the coral as well, sort of befriending it, making it willing to do what she wanted. Rin found that it was effective in her older uses and actually made the coral grow quicker. So she spoke to it, her voice sounding like a song. She coaxed the coral the begin circling around and soon she had a half a circle of yellow coral connected to a reef. She built up and thickened the coral as she finished the semi-circle. She took a brake, this part of the procedure taking roughly 3 bells. It was well into night now and Rin was tired. But she needed to finish this so tomorrow she could go and explore.

After taking a small break and eating more Wine Kelp she set to work again, crafting the other half of the house. her hands slowly guided the coral as her sing-song voice comforted the coral. She thickened the coral to about 3 inches on each wall and lifted it up to about 10 feet high. She closed the circle and left only a 5 foot opening to serve as an entrance and exit to her home.

She swam round her new abode, smiling as the coral and her craftsman ship. In the morning she would see small streams of light fight their way in the holes in the coral, she liked it that way. she had a new home, and all the was missing was that nice dome roof she had thought of. By now it was very dark and the water was cool and Rin was tired. This house had taken 5 or 6 bells and after swimming all day, she was beat. But she was determined as well and she decided that she needed the finished home, even if she had to wait another day to go explore. after she decided she quickly went back to her task. She was slower this time, her energy depleting, but the roof was the easy part, it wouldn't take as long. She traveled with the coral, slowly moving the yellow in an arch making the dome and smooth as she could. She only thickened the rook to about 2 inches because she wanted more light to come through the roof to shine on all her treasures. You know, when she got some.

This took about 2 bells and when she was done she plopped onto the sand floor of her new home. The sea vent was just inside her home, on the edge and it kept the water warm enough that she fell into a deep sleep almost instantly, not waking until the sun was high in the sky the water bright and hot. The middle of the day when usually she woke early.
