Niro ![]() Description Name: Niro Race: Inarta Age: 18 Birthday: Spring 8, 495 AV Height: 5'8" Weight: 138 Eyes: Yellow-Green Hair: Red Caste: Avora Niro has numerous tattoos of eagles all over his body. In addition, several small scars from events both old and new are spread over the young man. The most notable is from a hunting expedition in Summer of 511 AV when the hunter tried to take out a walrus on his own, only to end up with a tusk through his leg. The entry and exit points remain to remind Niro to be more careful. His lower lip is pierce on each side, with a single piercing in his left ear. Additionally, both nipples are pierced. Who I Am Niro is an eccentric, outgoing, loud young man. Never afraid to speak with what's on his mind, he may rub some the wrong way, but also has a way to say what needs to be said. Brave, maybe even foolhardy, Niro is always ready to jump to the forefront of things whether for the challenge or the chance to impress. Flirtatious, shameless, and always looking for a good time, the young man acts on impulse, which more often than not gets him in less than desirable positions. In addition, he can be extremely cold towards rivals, dismissing anything they say outright, even if it's a good idea. As a result, he is a polarizing individual, with people either liking him or hating him with little in between. Quick to call someone a friend, in truth few are such to him. He recognizes the need for cooperation that the Inarta and Wind Reach can survive. When it fancies him, the hunter isn't afraid to take advantage of his position in the caste system to do what he wants with those lower than he. It's quite possible Niro has a few children of the common and dredge women he's exhausted himself with. That said, he relishes the challenge of trying to win those in and above his level, but hopes to rise to the top some day. In all reality the young man has a need to have attention, to have women, to have challenges. The fear of being alone can overwhelm him if he isn't careful, which only serves to make his impulses worse. A denial only serves to motivate him to force his way past it, but a failure can derail him, creating a mess of a person that few really enjoy. In the end, Niro is going to try and act in the bests interests of Wind Reach, even if it means temporarily and begrudgingly pushing his own desires to the side. Where I Came From Born the ever so slightly older one of a set of twins, Niro is the son of a glassblower father and some Dek woman. Given to the nurseries to care for, even from a young age Niro was causing mischief. Organizing the children to hide and spook caretakers, picking 'targets' to 'hunt' throughout the settlement, and even at one point rallying the rest of the children at the nursery faux-militia to battle against the tyrannies of the lessons they were forced to learn. Upon his eighth birthday, like all others in Wind Reach, he was moved to the youth section of the city to begin his training. Glassblowing was a miserable failure. The boy didn't find it fulfilling, and as a result had little patience with it. His instructors had no qualms with moving him on to another training after an 'incident' involving melted glass left a few with burns and scars which ensure they'll remember Niro for a good long while. As he aged, though, there was little worry of him falling to the drudges as his skill with the bow steadily increased. Shortly after his 10th birthday he was picked up by a hunter of the Avora caste who was impressed both with the boy's ability to lead at such a young age and his ability to hit true with a bow. Day after day man trained his apprentice in the arts of archery, hunting, falconry, and making his way through the dangerous terrain they lived in. Although he improved early on, things become more difficult as the boy hit puberty and discovered girls. His growth declined and he was more likely to be found chatting up a pretty girl than practicing his marksmanship. By his 15th birthday, he had progressed enough to be accepted as a hunter, though his trainer was vocal about telling him of his wasting potential. Niro didn't care though, excited to prove himself as a great hunter. When he had his first chance to ride with an Endal during that same year, everything changed. He felt free, he felt the wind, and he felt a calling. Deciding then that he would become an Endal himself, he began doing whatever he could to attract a Wind Eagle of his own. Frustration mounted for the young man, however, as he was continually unsuccessful at reaching any of them. Knowing that others had success after taking down a large walrus at the Thunder Bay, during his 16th year, Niro decided to give it his all, hunt the mighty beast, and hope that was enough. Any eagles watching would only find amusement as the brash young man overestimated his own skills and greatly underestimated that of the walrus. A vicious tusk pierced his leg, forcing his hunting companions to come to the rescue. Although he recovered fully, he found himself unable to do much for the rest of that summer and fall, while his pride took a terrible wound which he is still recovering from. To this day, he holds onto the the dream of soaring high above everyone else, to lead from the front, and to bring Wind Reach into a new era. What I Own Possessions :
