Late Morning
Diren Stargazer's Lab, Gug Adjak
In the unsettling silence of The Citadel, undead worked tirelessly, not speaking, not breathing, not performing any of the things that mortals were so accustomed to. The majority of the population here were the magically immortal, and the soulless automatons that were the intelligent golems. Only a tiny minority were the living, or what they call 'pulsers'.
The young vantha was one of them, though he was not sure with the same goals as the rest of the other pulsers who sourced knowledge and hidden mysteries. Of course, the Sahovan wizards would not give them up easily, and used this incentive to gain the most benefit they could out of these unwitting mortals.
He had been picked up off the coast of Sahova by Diren Stargazer, an alchemist and animator deemed to be eccentric even among his kind. He owed his life to the old nuit, and for the past year had been simply aiding his benefactor in his experiments, most of which involved observation and taking notes as the man muttered to himself and stared at the sky. Most of the time he had been organizing Diren's files and that explained his current activity.
In another room of the wizard's lab the immortal was tinkering away at his work while Eridanus continually filed and recorded Diren's notes. The nuit had the tendency to record his observations in random scraps of parchment, and it was the vantha's job to transfer it all into a proper journal systematically.
He sighed as he copied down yet another inane piece of rambling that the wizard insisted was 'science', before disposing of the parchment in the waste container.
