The stunning coast of Ahnatep is one of the primary reasons the city is livable. The azure ocean helps keep the weather milder than the rest of Ekytol, and allows for trade. The proximity of the water also creates the differences in the seasons in Ahnatep, sparing it the perpetual summer of the inland regions. Spring has more rain because of the coast and estuary. Summer is granted occasional winds and blends into fall. Fall's only difference from summer is the morning marine layer that accrues and burns out by midday. Winter does not suffer from lake-effect snow, and is largely pleasant with differing temperatures from day to night. The coast declines sharply to the deep beach of hot sand and scattered shells. Light, salty onshore breezes make it only slightly inland before dying. Waves splash against the finely textured sand, creating a soft sizzling sound every-time they reach a dry spot. A white sun beats down on the coast warming the pale gold sand to an almost intolerable heat. Water temperature is mild, save in winter where it can chill bathers at first touch. The shallows exist only for a brief wade before the sandbar gives way to deeper water that passes over the head of even the tallest of Eypharians. After a day at the beach, a visitor's skin feels taut and their hair textured from the salt and moisture in the air. Most of the creatures in the water directly off the coast are harmless, though occasionally a dangerous animal lurks. Moderator's Note: This location does not require moderating. |
