15th of Fall, 512 A.V.

With the great snowstorm raging outside, many have retreated to the comfort of the indoors, only those with duties still to tend to bold enough to journey in the open. A fair number of people from the frozen city of Avanthal have taken shelter within a large dining hall, many simply being there to chat rather than actually eat.

As one entered the great hall, faint music from a lonely lute could be heard emanating throughout the chamber. The tune itself is soothing to the ear, offering a comforting and warm sound to anyone who hears it. This sense of safety coming from the music is not entirely natural though. A little bit of it comes from the girl pulling the strings, letting her mystical powers emanate through her song.

The girl herself was Inessa, with her hood pulled down and her cloak parted, letting her legs cross at the knees as she sat upon a wooden chair. Her lute sat on her lap as she strummed it, head bopping to the beat. Long black hair parted away from her cheerful yellow eyes, she observed the others in the dining hall, keeping to herself for the time being. Though it was empty, a small wooden mug rested near her leg.

Meeting at the Hall of Eating

Postby Coren on September 16th, 2012, 4:20 pm

Coren wasn't happy in the least with having being stuck in avanthal's dining hall for the time being thanks to the massive blizzard raging outside of the building. He didn't look forward to being stuck in the same room with a massive amount of bigots and morons for what could be hours. He had things to do. Experiments to run, supplies to obtain and designs to make that he could run his experments with. None of those things he could do here without either drawing a few airheaded people who wanted to replicate what he was doing, trying to grab his knowledge for themselves without working for it, or in the best case blowing themselves into bloody bits trying to do it... Wel best case scenario for him anyway.
Or in the other case he would get a bunch of bigots on his case who wanted to lynch him for trying to learn something they couldn't wrap their heads around. Either way, he would have to abstain from using magic.

He looked down at his steaming pile of food, which chased the annoyed thoughts away for a small bit. At least on the bright side, being stuck in a place where cooks where did mean he had a lot of good food in the vicinity. Something he usually forgot to do when he was wrapped up in his experiments. He pulled down his mask and began scarfing down the meal.
When he was eating he ignored the crawling feeling at his neck, there probably was another mage in here, but honestly he didn't care to much at the moment. Making sure his stomach was full was a bit a higher priority then some unknown mage plying her or his trade

Meeting at the Hall of Eating

Postby Veizor Coolwater on September 16th, 2012, 4:47 pm

While some other people were disappointed and not exactly happy with the blizzard that had manifested, Veizor was reveling in it. All of this scrumptious fish for him to devour on, prepared beautifully by the chefs of Avanthal that treated cooking as an art as sacred as the carvers of do, the mere artistry presented in the dishes was worthy of an epic tale of hardship and success. His own excitement elevated as his brain-storming became as wild as a hurricane, as wild as a hurricane in the Valterrian. He brewed a story of how the greatest Winterflame cook made a dish so amazing, that the gods had fought over for the recipe, causing the Valterrian in the process.

"The younger ones would indeed enjoy that one, a little humor thrown into it and I'd be golden!" thought the Vantha to himself, eating some soup, looking down into the plate for a while without searching his surroundings. Kind of did that sometimes when deep in thought, imagination running wild without any leash to contain it. Icy-white eyes looking around, a beautiful but faint tune was playing, an ice goddess that might of been the wife of Morwen in Veizor's eyes, serenading herself. But he stayed where he was, sensing a bit of Djed in the vicinity. Not knowing what it was or who, created more fantasies of mystery and stealth in the man's mind, losing himself in it once more as he ate furiously to the pace of his combat scenes and romantic poems.

As she played on, Inessa's eyes fell upon Coren from afar. She had heard of him in passing, though received no specific details. Only that he was a practitioner of some form of magic. She averted her eyes from him to focus on her music, but curiosity prevented her from putting her all into it. Her lute playing would fumble as she'd look again and again upon the far away mage, averting her pink eyes if he looked back, trying to pass it off as nothing.

Eventually she couldn't resist the temptation of speaking to another mage. She let her tune come to a gentle end, manipulation of djed fading along with it. Hanging the instrument from her shoulder with a leather strap, she made her way to the lonesome figure, small specks of purple in her otherwise yellow eyes. Her white sabretooth cloak swayed with each step she took.

"Pardon me, sir." Her voice was soft and gentle. Would you mind if I sat here as well?" She offered the man a weak smile.

Meeting at the Hall of Eating

Postby Coren on September 16th, 2012, 5:20 pm

Coren looked up from his meal when somebody suddenly addressed him. Staring at the young vantha that had asked if she could sit down at his table with. Quite honestly, coren had half a mind to tell her off so that he could eat in peace. Even with most of his features obscured thanks to his heavy cloak he was wearing with the hood up, he never felt completely at ease with other people if he wasn't wearing his mask. And so far he knew he wasn't aware of a way that one could eat without taking of the mask.

Then again, taking his luck she wouldn't take no for an answer and keep nagging until he either caved and let her sit or it would devolve into a scene.
“It isn't a problem I suppose.” Coren finally answered, breaking the rather uncomfortable silence that had been growing between the two. He was nearly done with eating anyway and then he could put his mask back on anyway.
“Why do you wish to sit there anyway. Usually young girls flock together with others like them.” He threw out as he started eating again, focusing his gaze on his food. Hoping that the next words out of her mouth weren't, I heard you're a mage.

Meeting at the Hall of Eating

Postby Veizor Coolwater on September 16th, 2012, 5:44 pm

The woman of exceedingly amazing beauty went to a man in robes, which from Veizor's memory must had been Coren, the mage that had some events connected to his person from last season. He couldn't exactly remember or care enough to delve that deep into his mental storage. Getting up and leaving his plate of food there, he approached with vigor.

Pulling out a chair next to Inessa, he looked into her eyes with a smile, color changing to a pinkish tone to symbolize his crush for her and compassionate want to become friends. The djed in the area had become stronger, but couldn't pinpoint the exact location. Looking at Coren who had known to be a mage, Veizor just had to ask.

"Are you the mighty spell-caster that weaves spells with utmost ease and strikes down foes with a flick of the wrist ? Vanquisher of those who oppose and wearer of masks that shrouds your history in mystery?" he asked, rhyming at the end to show off his story-telling. This was going to be interesting.

Inessa idly rocked back and forth from heel to toe as the silence passed between the two. When Coren spoke, she smiled brightly, yellow in her eyes. She nodded respectfully to him. "Thank you, sir. Inessa Snowsong, by the way." She pointed a finger upwards at her face as she stated her name. Straightening out her clothes, she took a seat near the man, white cloak keeping between her and the wooden surface, as Veizor said his piece with the mage.

"Are you the mighty spell-caster that weaves spells with utmost ease and strikes down foes with a flick of the wrist ? Vanquisher of those who oppose and wearer of masks that shrouds your history in mystery?"

She winced slightly as the other Vanthan came up, voice timid. "... I don't think that's... ah. Hmm." Flabbergasted in a way, she falls silent, looking into the eyes of the newcomer.

Coren just nodded as she introduced herself. A musician then “I'm coren.” He didn't give the name of his hold, the members didn't see him as a member anymore, and he had better things to do then to rile them up by claiming otherwise. Before Inessa could answer why she was here a quite... peculiar person suddenly spoke up in a ridiculous rhyme. Claiming him to be a mighty spellcaster that strikes down foes with just a flick of his wrist, with a history that is shrouded in mystery.

Coren just gave the man a deadpan glance for a while, trying to figure if the man had a working brain somewhere in that skull of his, or if it was just empty space.
“No, you have me mistaken for somebody else. I'm certainly not a mighty spellcaster that strikes down foes with ease... I don't think I even have any of those.” Coren just replied after he decided that no, the young man in front of him didn't have anything in between his ears. He turned back to his meal, polishing of the last food of his plate and put his leather face mask back on. Feeling the nerves of discomfort fade out of his back he turned back to inessa. Not giving the weird kid another glance. “Do you know who that is?”Coren decided to be polite and not call the person a moron.

Inessa shook her head slowly, smooth hair flowing with the motion. "I've not a clue."

Her lips tightened slightly as Coren stated that he wasn't a mage. Either he actually wasn't and the rumor she heard was false. Or he just didn't want to speak about it. Either way, inquiry would be rude. Her eyes shifted once more to a shade of purple, with a few blue specs, as she looked between the two men. Idly she straightened out the hem of her tunic, slightly pulling her cloak tighter about herself.

She stays quiet, letting the two speak, not offering more than the occasional meaningless tidbit. Her legs uncross, knees pressed against one another with her hands on her thighs.

((I'll be back for more RP in roughly 8 hours time. Continue without me, just try to accommodate Inessa's 'inability to speak' please!))

Meeting at the Hall of Eating

Postby Veizor Coolwater on September 18th, 2012, 1:25 am

Quick thinking made Veizor realize that he had made a mistake in identity and did not exactly introduce himself in the most elegant of ways, lacking the grace of his backyard ocean. But he was about to show his ability to become flexible in any situation, as like when the fishes escape from his net through the smallest of holes with adept maneuvering and tactics. Left hand balled up in a fist, with his right hand holding the crown of the chair, clearing his throat with the fist covering, Veizor bent over and bowed, "Sorry for the lack of manners, Sir Coren. I did not mean to mistaken you at all or bother your meal, if I may repay my mistake with simple company?" he said. Seeking some type of forgiveness was the main priority, feeling like a loser in front of the maiden sitting next to him.

"I am sorry, I wasn't meaning to ignore you at all, but I think of you as a beautiful rose made out of ice, shining with joy and brilliance when hit with light, waiting for someone to bring out its true colors into full bloom," he said with the smoothest tone, his eyes still looking into hers. Creativity in the spur of the moment, a plan manifested in his conscious. It was set in motion immediately. Turning around, looking at the table covered by a white cloth. A clear, crystalline bowl with ice cubes in it for people to put in their own drinks was in the middle of the table. With the mark of Morwen, he did not feel much different, nothing more than a tickle as he placed them side by side on his hand, the last one being balanced on half of his middle finger.

Thinking to himself, invoking his creativity in union with his Gnosis mark that began to go to work. Placing his other palm over the ice, it seemed like the cold, solid material was breathing and starting to change shape. The two bottom cubes made a sharp and sudden fissure across the surface, sounding like the cracking of a mirror or a window. It then started into a sequence of noises similar to crunchy food being bitten into, beginning to physically shape the mental image in the Vantha's mind : a rose waiting in bloom.

The stem began to flesh out, smaller leaves protruding from the sides until the top, three bigger leaves coming out as if it was a holding place for the remainder of the rose bud. The easiest part was the stem, the model of it being a very thin cylinder and the leaves model was like curved triangles. Sculpting was about geometric shapes, so now the bud would be not intricately decorated. Veizor's skill wasn't the highest at all, so the finishing touch wasn't much of glamor other than the fact it did look like actual rose bud up until the point where it was filled with too many small details to look like a perfect product.

"Take it as a token of apology, and that we all may decide on a topic we can talk freely about and spark our minds with enthusiasm, aswell as comfortable." Sitting down afterwards, he seemed rather drained and somewhat trying to regain a sense of his surroundings.
