[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Crypt on September 21st, 2012, 8:29 am

25th of Fall, 512 AV

Cursing at his foul luck, having been mislead by a few mischievous children, Crypt finally stood at the door to the Traveler's Row after a few hours of searching. Pushing the doors open wide enough for Maras and himself, he then walked towards the 'waiting area' (As the sign indicated), assuming that it was where the offices would be.

Sitting down at one of the chairs, he availed himself of the delicious cookies conveniently located on a table nearby and ate slowly. Tossing a few to Maras, who eagerly ate them all up and snorted with delight, he then took a cup of tea.

This tastes amazing. Mother used to make some for me when I had a headache, but this is on a whole new level.

"Alright young one, come along. What do you need?" A voice wafted out of the office.

Crypt stood up and entered the office, where a female Konti met him.

"M'name's Crypt, Crypt Insatem, ma'am, and I require a single room for... er... I'm not quite sure how long I'll be staying here. I won't be needing the bed."

"Hmm..." Matilda looked him over. "Why not 7 days for a start? It'll cost you 7 silver mizas. I'll ask them to move the bed out."

Crypt pondered for a while, and then replied. "Well, that's quite cheap. I think I'll take it. Here you go."

He fiddled around with a small pouch before drawing out a gold miza.

"If I'm right, a gold miza is 10 silver mizas, right?"

Matilda took the coin, placing it in a small compartment in her desk, then returned him the three silver mizas.

"Correct. Enjoy your stay here, Crypt. Oh, and here's your key. Have a nice day."

Crypt took the key from where it lay on her desk, and led Maras up the stairs to their new apartment.

Well, that's my lodgings taken care of.

32nd of Fall, 512 AV

Crypt looked around the office, appearing quite confused. No one was there.

I suppose I could just leave a note...

He tore out a scrap of parchment from his journal, and scribbled a few words on it before depositing it on the table. He hesitated for a moment before depositing 60 gold mizas on Matilda's desk, before turning to leave.

The Note :
Hey, this is Crypt. You know, the one with the horse? I'd like to stay here for the rest of the season, so here's my payment. Keep any extra change for yourself.

[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Caran Daralis on January 21st, 2013, 6:56 pm

40th of Winter, 512 AV

Following the guard's instructions she wound her way to Traveler's Row, tugging the hood of her cloak down as she did so. Blinking in the sunlight that fell over the city, she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Enclosed by the walls of Syrliras, she felt the tiniest bit safer, if a little claustrophobic. Keeping her eyes cast to her mud-splattered boots, she would look up every few seconds to check that she was indeed heading in the right direction.

After a few moments of listening to her boots clomp on the ground and the creaking of her joints, Caran found herself struggling to scrape off the mud that clung fiercely to the bottoms of her boots before entering the 'office'. Almost as soon as she'd stepped foot into the waiting room she had made a beeline for a side-table laden with cookies and tea. She paused for a moment, reading the small sign place there before proceeding to stuff her face. Luxuries such as cookies and tea were ones she'd grown used to being without. It tastes a bit like mother's cookies. Despite herself her heart ached a little at the thought of that city by the sea, but she quashed the nostalgia down with a frown and turned away from the remaining cookies.

Heading towards the desk, Caran noted the absence of someone behind the desk. With a grunt, she reached over and tugged on the bell pull, and waited. As she waited, she was suddenly conscious of just how out-of-place she looked, weighed down as she was with her scratched and scuffed leather armor and bastard sword that was in desperate need of a good shining. Not five minutes had passed before a konti entered, giving the scarred woman a smile, apparently unperturbed by her appearance. With a name like Traveler's Row, I'd expect that they're used to people like me.

" One single room, for a month," as an afterthought she added "...please, ma'am." Slipping off her pack, she rummaged around inside, searching for what remained of the payment from her last job. Pulling out three gold mizas and handed them over to the konti. A key was slid to her, along with instructions as to where her room was. Murmuring her thanks, she pulled her pack back on before trudging to her rented room.

Closing the door behind her, she belly-flopped onto the simple bed without bothering to change out of her armor or take off her pack. For several moments the only sound in the room was her breathing, which quickly turned into snoring, muffled by the covers of her rented bed.

Postby Aramil on January 22nd, 2013, 8:32 pm

52nd of winter, 512 AV

He wandered past the the guards and into the city, slowly making his way to the Traveler's Row where he planned to stay a long while. Taking the building and street sights in as he approached the office building. With a deep breath, Aramil entered the office and sat in the waiting area. He helped himself to a cookie and some tea as he awaited the attendent's assistance.

Aramil fiddled with his Mizas, reckoning it'd be a hefty price to stay for a few seasons. He was planning to ask the attendent about possible jobs around the town so that he may support himself a little better.

[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Shiress on February 1st, 2013, 11:28 pm

Day 52
Winter 512AV

Shiress looked down the road and then up and then back down the road again. She tucked her hair behind her ear and glanced down at the small piece of parchment held in her hand. She was heading to Travelers Row with the help of some direction scribbled on the parchment.

This would be Shiress first real outing, by herself anyway, since she came to Syliras. It had been a while since Richard Burke's early morning stroll had been rudely interrupted with a limp, crumpled Shiress lying in his path. She was still sore, but could walk unescorted as long as she took small rests here and there. Glancing down once more, she decided down the road was the right way and away she went.

After a short walk, she pushed open the door and steps inside looking a bit lost. When she saw a sign hanging on a wall pointing out the direction of the waiting area she felt relieved, the fewer people she had to converse with, the better.

She stepped quietly around the door frame and peered in looking around the empty office. She walks up to the desk and stands silent looking about the tiny office.

A smiled spread across her slender, pale face as she noticed a plate of cookies sitting beside a tea pot on a little side table. Sliding across the room, Shiress fingered the table briefly then casually picked up a cookie. A gentle memory came in her mind of her Mothers cookies and she let out a chuckle remembering how she and her brother Zayne would fight for the first out of a fresh batch.

She poured herself a small cup of tea and grabbed another cookie. She glanced over her shoulder to the still unattended desk and grabbed another cookie or three and tossed them in her bag.

"May I help you" came a woman's voice. Startling Shiress, spinning her around a cookie still clinched between her teeth. She stood there speechless, staring. Trying to come up with a good reason why she just stowed a handful of cookies in her closed bag. "Do you need housing" asked the Konti a bit annoyed. The fact a Konti monitored the front desk didn't faze Shiress, after all she was from Sunberth.

Relieved a little, she took the cookie out of her mouth and approached the desk. "Yes" she said. "ummm, I need one bed" Shiress said, sounding unsure.
"Small room, single and for how long" snapped the Konti as she placed a key on the desk just in front of Shiress. She grabbed the key and quickly left the office, not wanting much more conversation. A fast "thank you" spoken over her shoulder as she exited.

After a long attempt to unlock the door, she entered her new home. The room was bare aside from a small table and chair, a neatly groomed single bed and a small hearth beneath a naked wall.

Strolling toward the bed she sat down, placing her backpack on her lap, pulled it open and began searching it. She pulled a smooth gold band and placed it on her forefinger, staring at it lovingly. Laying back on the bed, she moved her hands over the soft bed clothes. A feeling of true freedom filling her being as she smiled...

[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Min on February 2nd, 2013, 1:59 am

Min had been directed towards the employment office and to this place - Travelers' Row - for housing. She had spoken to the lady who seemed to run the registration and assignment of rooms - a Konti - one of a race that the Myrian had had very little dealings with. But all had gone smoothly, and now Min was sitting on the edge of a plain bedstead, which held a not too uncomfortable mattress - not that she cared so much about comfort. The home she had left in Taloba had been more office - examining room - compounding lab than a house. Her sleeping pallet had been shoved unceremoniously into a corner while the rest of the space had been devoted to a low table where she could kneel on the floor and mix her remedies, and then a higher one for those she treated to sit or lay on. The walls were floor to ceiling shelves filled with every kind of pot and jar and box imaginable, all of which contained both her raw ingredients and her finished medicines. As she looked about this bare room, then, it was not her creature comforts that she missed, but all that she had to hand, back home. Her fingers stroked her little pack gently, knowing what was inside, and knowing it was far from adequate. Here she was a stranger, and the plants around this city were foreign to her. Would she be able to pursue her vocation, here, where all was so different?

Time would tell.

Gathril entered through the door of Traveler's Row without opening it. Being a Ghost had it's delights. He flew to the middle of the main room, subsequently dropping the temperature, attracting the attention of many guests and the innkeeper.

"I'm just here to hang out a bit." Gathril said in his ghastly voice. Since it was a popular place, it attracted Gathril as he like places to haunt.

[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Lucy Tides on February 22nd, 2013, 1:37 am

Winter 73 512 AV

Lucy had taken Adilliana's directions to leave the tavern and head down the long corridor. It twisted a bit and then she found herself looking into a waiting room with a single desk. No one stood behind it, who would at such an ungodly hour where the bells of the city stuck only once. Glancing around the room Lucy noticed a rope on the side of the wall. Curiosity got the best of her as her fingers wrapped around the worn rope and pulled. She waited a moment and when nothing happened her eyes wandered from the side wall to a table nestled into the other corner of the lounge. With three long strides, Lucy reached the side of the table and bit into a cold cookie while she pondered on what to do next. Finally the woman appeared and she smiled at her.

"I would like your cheapest room please." Lucy said licking her fingers to catch all the cookie crumbs.

"That'll be one small miza a night." The lady behind the desk said. Lucy gave a simple nod and placed one gold miza on the desk.

"I'm sure I'll be here for ten days at least. If I stay longer I'll be sure to send you more money." Lucy said as the receptionist gave her a key. Lucy then left and headed down the corridor to a room numbered 345. She turned the key and entered into the room. She closed the door quietly behind her and took off her shoes. She slumped into her bed and within in minutes was asleep.

[Syliras Location] Traveler's Row

Postby Caweyre on March 1st, 2013, 3:44 am

Season of Winter, Day 74, 512 AV

Caweyre pulled the cowl of his sharkskin cloak away from his face, letting it slide down his back as he entered the office of Traveler's Row. Securing a room was easy once he'd flashed a bit of coin; currency is the only universal language. Navigating the city had been much more difficult. He had never been assailed by such a mix of scents, and the cacophony of noises in the air was nothing like the slow reverberations of sound underwater.

As he made his way through the cramped hallways of his new lodgings, the enormity of his decision to flee from Charbosi began to weigh upon him. He was an alien here, and the the songs they sang of Syliras in his homeland hardly did justice to the enormity of the sprawling fortress city. His skin felt dry, he was parched, and he wondered if he'd ever adjust.

The first sight of his tiny room did little to lift his spirits, but he let his backpack fall from his shoulders to the ground, and shut the door behind him without reservations. His decision had been made the moment he'd stolen a mount to come here. In any case, with any luck he'd be spending most of his time somewhere else. He sat upon his small bed for a few moments, and let exhaustion overtake him. Then, he lay down for a short nap.

While he slept, he was visited by visions of a huge waterfall cascading down sandstone cliffs, dense with evergreens. Waking, he locked the door behind him as he left to look for some sort of work.
