Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Things were definitely not looking up for the Konti, Iris Timandre. For a Konti whom was over one hundred years of age she made a mistake only a youth would. Moving out of a city, alone. Iris was a very small Konti, five foot one inch at the most. Not the tallest Konti out there, and she wasn't physically strong either. The most defense she'd have was the Gladius she wasn't even that skilled with in the first place. Iris was pretty much a sitting duck after she left the protection of Zeltiva and all of her peers and friends.

On the trip Iris had ran out of food and water, that was really bad. And the Timandre had alot of Mizas that were not useful due to her being away from a city. But thankfully by luck. In her opinion, Rak'keli being there to save her. She had landed in some strange water city like place. It was all so confusing to Iris because she had no idea what Riverfall was or that it even existed in the first place.

Iris Timandre looked around the town. By now her stomach was griping. She felt every bit of it. There were bags under her eyes, and her light lips were very dry. By now Iris thought she'd just pass out before she could even get help for herself. She tried to cry out but she lost her voice. Iris reached the Pearl House. Though she had no idea what was inside of it she walked up to the place.

"Maybe I can get some he- "

Iris coughed out loud. She felt horrible. The Konti told herself she needed to keep going.

"A few more...."

Before Iris could grab the door she fell on her side too weak to continue walking. Iris thought no one was coming to help her. To her it was all wrong. Was she really going to die? She'd always been there to help someone and now she needs it she'll be left there to rot. Iris' eyes became watery. Typically she didn't show these emotions to people. But after a fourty five day trip The Healer was beat. And she couldn't take anymore stress.

Riverfall was a beautiful place to walk around during the early morning hours. There weren’t many people around, that mean that you could hear the waterfall crashing from a fair distance away. It had almost become as lulling to him as the crashing of the waves on the Isle. Amidst this tranquility it was easy to pick out things that were odd. Things that didn’t belong in this place or this state of mind. He found himself hunting down stray thoughts of his own from time to time. Just so he could move himself closer to serenity.

One thing that didn’t belong was a lone stray figure that had somehow made it past the city guard without an escort. Just how they let a lone Konti past them was beyond him. Maybe they weren’t paying attention? That was possible he figured. But he knew the type of walk she had…he could see the fatigue in every step…if she wasn’t careful…But as she walked up the streets of Riverfall he knew it was all becoming too much when she began swaying. He knew she wasn’t going to make it so he quickly tried to make up the space between them if only to just inquire to her state of well being. But, it was too late by the time he got there. She fell over on her side into a heap. A sad sight indeed; she seemed more than just tired. Although did she really know where she was?

The confusion sitting in those watery eyes of his told him she was clueless. “You are safe…” His Kontinese was rough but she would understand the idea.

That would likely put her at ease; hearing her native tongue again. The medical side of his brain turned on as he looked her over. Her muscles were trembling, he could hear her stomach rumble and the bags under her eyes told him she had one hell of a trip. She was in a sorry state right now and needed to be put inside somewhere. He knew she likely couldn’t support her own weight anymore; and she was soo close to the Pearl House. He couldn’t put too much thought into it as he scooped her up into his arms easily and gently felt her weight.

She was very light, he swore most Konti had hollow bones they were so weightless. She was easily carried in his arms into the Inn where he nodded to the innkeeper “I found her outside your Inn, I think she was trying to get here…Do you have somewhere I can set her down comfortably?” He queried in common as he was directed to the communal sitting room where there was a couch. He laid her easily on it and knelt beside her.

“Are you ok?” He asked her in common knowing well she was not, but also wanted to know how much she would tell him.

This male. He spoke Kontinese, though it wasn't exactly perfect Iris knew how he felt. To this day she had not perfected Common at all. It should have all came to her by now but it just didn't. The man knowing Kontinese told Iris he most likely has been in contact with at least one other Konti in his liftime. That's all. Iris' vision was pretty blurry, she couldn't make out a good image of his face. All she knew is that he had dark hair. And was much larger than her of course.

The healer couldn't reply to the man saying "You are safe." She was in too much shock. Iris had thought she was done for. Then the man lifted her into his arms. Even though Iris' eyes were now closed she could feel the man's strong secure arms under her, around her back, and his warm large hand placed right on her upper right arm. Iris felt protected. Right then that was the best feeling in the world. One that Iris wouldn't pass up for anything.

The man took Iris into the Inn she was trying to her to. Slowly she was placed onto the couch. There were multiple noises. People eating and talking. The man asked Iris if she was alright. The Konti's vision began to slowly get better. She was able to see his face clearly. For a minute the healer's icy blue eyes scanned the dashing man who saved her life. Still, that didn't fix the hunger problem. Nor the dehydration. Iris attempted to reach her left hand out and place the tip of her index and middle finger on the man's forehead. Her arm dropped instantly after that. Too weak to keep it up.

Finally Iris was able to utter a good response but not after a very loud cough that could be heard all over the Inn. Iris placed her palm on her mouth. She spoke in broken up Common, good enough for the man to understand her.

"I'm.... I.....um......"

The Konti looked up into the air. Her expression told the man that she was trying to find the right words for the conversation. Being taught Common through books wasn't very effective because Iris had not spoken Common that much. The most ever was when she was around Zeltiva's Tock.

"Pain.......Pain...."

Iris pointed upward and poked her head and then downward to her stomach. She was trying to tell the man that she wanted food and that she had the worst head pains ever. Her head pains coming from a horrible fall she took during the travel. It was going to be a struggle to tell anyone exactly what happened on the way to this new strange city.

She struggled to keep a conversation with him. Likely because she had not ventured far from the Konti Isle in her life. Common was usually one of the first languages learned by anyone who wanted to venture far from Mura. But this woman while she could form coherent words was far from holding an in depth conversation with him. And well he could stretch his Kontinese, but the language barrier would indeed be more than present. He learned Kontinese the exact opposite that she had learned common…immersion. He learned it by hearing it spoken; trial and error with nothingness encounters with her Konti sisters. He was careful because he knew that the Konti were very specific in how they talked. He didn’t want to mess anything up.

He pieced together what he could in Kontinese to inform her she was in good hands. “I understand…” he then coupled a common word at the end, “pain.” He knew she was likely hungry and weak at this moment. She didn’t seem injured but rather like she could use a decent meal and maybe a little company.

Serrif gently touched across her forehead brushing away her hair, he looked deep into her eyes and nodded. Perhaps she knew he would take care of her? Why else would he pick her up and carry her into this place? He looked to the innkeep and without further information a glass of water was brought to him. It was like the woman knew what he needed before he spoke it.

“Thank you.” And with little else to do he gently helped the Konti sit up against the high back of the couch. It would be effortless for him since she was so light, but once he got her into position she would easily be able to keep her upright posture. He put a hand on her right side and his other hand on her left hip. He then gently sat her up against the couch. It was again an easy almost effortless task for him. The woman weighed so little.

“Take” He would’ve said drink or something else but he didn’t know the Kontinese word for it so instead he just roughly said what he thought she would be able to understand. It was rough and anything but exact…however he hoped they could communicate effectively between them in order to get her a little more on her feet.

The first step to getting her better would be getting her hydrated again. Else her body would not even think about processing food. Water was a good first step, it would feel cool going down her throat. But more importantly it would help settle some of her stomach pains. They would have to start with more bland foods once he felt she was settled enough to eat. But that was still a little bit away from now; she was still very weak and needed very acute attention placed on her. Something he was glad to do as long as she didn’t mind his company.

The Konti was quite confused when the human male got closer and started to shift her body upward. But she wasn't going to do anything to stop him. Iris didn't want to stop him and even if she did she most likely wouldn't have been able to. It would have taken more energy than she had at that moment, At this point she trusted him, it was a smart choice. He got her to sit up straight.

Everytime the human man placed his hands on Iris skin it felt like a patch of warmth hit her again and again. Not the annoying type, the soothing type that you just didn't want to go away. The healer's blue eyes kept contact with the human's eyes. After Iris' stay in Zeltiva she went from this extremely shy Konti to a more bold type. The city and contact with humans changed her.

Iris saw the man ask for and recieve a glass of water. Water, a life essential. Something Iris hasn't seen in a few days. Her long life experience and maturity on top of being physically spent is the only thing that kept the Konti from jumping right out of the chair and snatching the glass of water out of the man's hand.

Iris thanked Rak'keli for the man saying the word 'take.' That's one of the Common words Iris remembered. She held her left hand out and took the glass. Her hand kept shaking. Iris thought to herself I feel horrible....and pathetic.... The healer lifted the glass up to her mouth and placed the edge onto her bottom lip. After pusing the glass upward she took a few quick gulps of the nice cool water. It had to be one of the best feelings the Timandre sister ever felt. Slowly she felt more alive and less half dead.

After finishing up the water Iris held the cup back out to the human man and said the Kontinese word for take. "Take." She hoped the man knew she was trying to teach him the word from her own language. "Take means take angel."

Iris had called the man an angel. She thought he was someone sent by Rak'keli to save her life. The healing Goddess loved Iris alot after all. The Konti began to think hard again. Now she felt a little better some of the words came together easier. "You save....me. I thank. What is your name? I....em...am Iris." Iris had put together a few good simple Common sentences, far from complex. It was one of the first lines her sisters and elders had taught her. Still, she spoke with a very thick Kontinese accent. Iris pulled her legs up onto the chair and hugged her pale knees.

He saw a quiet determination in her blue eyes, even as she sat there and watched him in her weakened state he could tell there was indeed strength sitting behind those eyes. He looked over her features and knew well she was likely a TImandre. These girls had a distinctive look to them. There were certain features that they took from their mother; whom he had met once in person and had quite the conversation with. A face he would not soon forget even while away from Mura.

Angel now that was something he hadn’t been called before. He had been called a good man, one that didn’t deserve the fate that had assaulted him. But an angel? Never an angel. That brought a smile to his face as he looked to this Konti woman. She was in need of his services yes, and he could see how she would equate him with an angel. He was indeed her much needed salvation and did seem to be in the right place at the right time. He did have the interesting habit of being right where he needed to be right at the moment he needed to be there.

“Serrif Von Chatlyn of Mura. I assume you are a Timandre woman.” He knew the looks of the Timandre girls. They were distinctive from the others, inheriting most of their beauty from their mother. Ah that woman….

“But a nod will do, you need not stress yourself speaking.” He smiled and remained kneeling before her. She was slightly taller than he was sitting up on that couch with him on the ground in front of her. But his size even in this stance was apparent.

The inkeep brought over a glass pitcher of cool crisp water and set it on the table beside Serrif. And offered a polite nod to Iris. They were all sisters, and needed to stick together in this city. He loved the Konti language, it flowed so well and hearing common filtered through it was as if he was back in Mura again.
