"It isn't exactly a tattoo but you got the mark part right. It's a connection between me and a goddess. She even knows I'm in your Infirmary room. If there's another Rak'keli marked being in this Infirmary I'll know." Iris stopped talking. She knew Tock wanted a drink, the woodcarver asked for it earlier. Normally, Iris wouldn't give a patient a drink but Tock had a free pass.
The Konti's slim pale hand slid back into her bag and she pulled out a bottle of fine wine she bad brought from the World's End Grotto. Iris had been hiding it for the entire day and thought it was funny that Tock had even mentioned anything about drinking.
"You know Tock, I really don't want you to think I'm all work and no fun. I was saving this to rid myself of this stress but oh well." Iris reached her left hand out hovering the bottle over Tock's body for her to take. The two friends were simply going to enjoy a nice drink with the conversation. Iris stood up and walked over to the Infirmary room door grabbing it with both her hands and closing it shut. Iris thought she could lose her job for giving drinks out.
The healer made her way back to Tock, this time sitting directly to Tock's right on Tock's bed. "You're not a dog, Tock. I won't give you ale--it's for the people who can't do any better, that wine cost me ten gold mizas. It's the best stuff. For a good friend." Iris leaned her head back on the pillow looking up straight.
"How do you survive all of this Tock? I've seen more illness and crime here than I ever have in Mura. Sometimes I want to go home but...." Mura was home to the best healers in Mizahar, that was one of many reasons Zeltiva had more ill people than the Konti Isle. "Because of the way things work I have to try and help as best as a can. It's what Rak'keli wants."
Iris was opening up more, she didn't really tell these things to anyone. The Konti rarely even spoke to people in the town unless it's work wise. This was the first drink she's shared with anyone since leaving her home land Mura.
