This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]

Sliver was glad that her shock had caused such great amusement for the Mage, and laughed herself a bit, both at her own surprise and his quick defense of his own laughter.
She was entirely unsure how he would react to her playfully thrown snowball. It was a gesture of release to be sure, both individuals were rather uptight in their own way, but she was so uncertain of how he would take the action. The awkward pause in which Sliver attempted to gauge the Mage's reaction dragged on second by second, Sliver afraid she had been too forward or presumptuous in some way. She opened her mouth to apologize when he spoke and threw an icy ball straight for her head.
She grinned. She was too slow on the uptake to dodge the well thrown ball, so she turned her head. It struck her jaw solidly, leaving a nice red mark from the harsh and cold substance.
She jumped up from her seated position and dashed into the trees, ducking and rolling behind a series of bushes. Steady hands and quick maneuvering would be required here. She wasn't sure if Coren's projection was going to give him a huge advantage or not, but better safe then sorry.
And so the wolverine began to stockpile some snowballs, claws digging into the snow and creating well rounded icy balls of mayhem. She had seen many children make them, yet wolverines normally had no need for this sort of activity. She told herself it was his doing that had started all this, dropping the ice on her and showing off his magic, this was simply the only logical response.
For now Coren would see nothing if he glimpsed into the light section of woods, and perhaps hear light scraping or digging, the next move, was his. |

Coren's lips once more twitched underneath his masked face as his snowball hit sliver square in the jaw, seems like he still had a good arm on him. Before he could grab another heap of snow and get another throw in, the kelvic got her bearings again and dashed straight into the bushes, trees and hedges framing the paths in the windward boardwalk. He did a quick grasp towards her ankle with his projection to keep her from running out of his range and into cover, but wasn't nearly quick enough, this was going to get tricky it seemed. Coren scooped up a heap of snow with his projected hand and began to mold it into a snowball as he slowly walked closer towards the treeline, keeping his eyes and ears open for anything that would betray the presence of sliver. Which probably would come eventually, she didn't really strike him as the patient type, nor as the type that liked to sneak around a lot. He picked up some other snow in his projected hand and began molding a replacement for when he missed with his first snowball.
He stopped as he heard some shuffling and scraping sounds coming from the right of him. He turned his heads towards them before throwing a snowball as hard as he could at the bushes... only for a rather frightened squirrel to leap out of them. “She isn't there it seems.” he turned away from the bushes and looked around. |

She had tried to keep as low of a profile as she could, but when he threw the snowball at the squirrel she just couldn't help the snicker that issued from her mouth. She had a small stockpile of icy weapons now, and since she had already given away her position, lobbed one straight at his mask which had just turned towards her, readying another in preparation of a counter-attack.
"Do those thick robes mess with your hearing, Mage? Can't tell a wolverine apart from a squirrel?"
The humor behind the words hung in her voice which was already slightly out of breath. She didn't take him for a person to be upset by a couple jabs to his pride, but she was enjoying herself, and her short term in the Icewatch had already accustomed her to constant friendly berating. |

Coren spluttered as he was hit full in the face with a snowball, having covered his head with his left hand just a fraction to late. “They both are furry creatures as far as I know Sliver.” He spat back in a friendly tone before roughly taking aim and flinging his snowball at her and quickly taking cover behind a nearby tree, so he wasn't straight in the firing line of her snowballs. “And I can hear just fine with all this on, thank you very much.” he shot back in the same calm and polite voice he used most of the time. He peered around his tree. Passing his single remaining snowball back to his left arm. Ready to throw at her.
She was quite covered behind her bushes and he assumed she had been making snowballs while she had been hiding, it was what he would do anyway. A small grin got on his masked face as he reached out with his projected arm towards her position, lightly feeling around with it, seeing as he couldn't see much when he was peeking around the tree trunk. When he reached the bushes she was hiding behind he quickly phased through thouse and began feeling around behind them, distorting the snow in quite obvious ways if he could feel her snowballs, maybe he could shove them down her jacket if he was lucky, other wise he would just need to destroy them so she didn't have more ammo then him. |

Sliver didn't notice any of the tom foolery occurring with her carefully constructed mass of snowballs, too concentrated was she on Coren's location. Though the ball he threw was a bit of a shot in the dark as it were, it clipped her effectively in the shoulder, and she smirked. Guess he can hear in all of that.
She deftly tossed a few snowballs near the tree. It was clear that none of them would hit him, he had a solid defense at his back, but they were more of a reason not to look around in case another one clipped his face.
"Well that's good to know. Where did you get all of that stuff anyway, a cultist shop? Or maybe you found it in an old tomb and just figured it looked good on you?"
She was just so amused by her own string of jokes. From behind his tree Coren would hear her light laughter, almost like the bark of a happy dog. This noise would be suddenly cut off by a high ear piercing shriek as the snow Coren was altering was shoved down the back of Sliver's shirt, the mage probably finding it rather easy to slide it down the relatively stationary target.
"Oy!" The wolverine shouted, her voice signalling that she was on the move again. "That's cheating!"
Now she was silent and collected the remains of her snowballs and began to stealthily move the scrub and trees circling around Coren, she needed to get out of his reach if only temporarily. The wolverine shivered as icy rivulets of water leaked down her back, reminding her that her and the Mage were 2 for 2 in their little game. |

Coren quickly took cover behind the tree as sliver send a barrage of snowballs his way. A normal person in this situation during a snowbalfight, found and out of snowballs would have started to look for another hiding spot to flank her and start to make more snowballs. Not coren though, a massive grin was making its way on his face as his projected limb finally got hold of her supply of snowballs. Time for the counter attack.
He let out a snicker at the comment about his robe. “Oh don't knock it, I have enough pockets and place underneath this robe to keep everything I own with me!” He shouted back at her, poking his head from out of his cover to get a read on her position. “besides, its comfy and keeps the snow out!” he grabbed the snowballs with his projected arm and with a smile on his face shoved them down the kelvic's tunic. Laughing at her outburst, also getting on the move as he heard sliver move about. No sense in being stationary after all. “I don't remember ever setting any rules before we started Sliver.” He shot back in a joking tone as he used his projected limb to quickly scoop up some snow from the ground while on the move. Diving behind a tree before he began to scan through the white trees and bushes. Coren molded the snow into a snowball and passed it to his left arm.
After that he stretched out his projected arm out till it was around eighteen or so arm-lengths stretched out in a straight line, he lowered it a bit so it was the height of his waist and slowly began to move it in a cirkel like motion around him, using himself as the center of it. He would feel her that way eventually, unless she was lying down on her stomach or climbed up into a tree. The main problem would be that when he felt her she would also feel his projected limb brush up against her. But that would be a problem he could deal with when the time came. |

"Rules or no rules," The wolverine called from somewhere in the thicket "Invisible limbs shouldn't be involved in snow ball fights."
Despite her haranguing the mage, Sliver was thoroughly enjoying herself, the smile remaining on her features. She would have crept low to the ground to sneak up on Coren, but her small armament of snow balls prevented such an action, so she crouched low and listened to the sound of his voice and the sweeping of his cloak against the snowy ground to determine where he was.
Once she had pin pointed his location, the Kelvic took great care in choosing her steps and keeping quiet. She wasn't a very stealthy creature, to be honest, but nearly all life could benefit from stealth now and again.
She glimpsed the corner of dark cloth and grinned in victory when she felt a soft touch, almost like a very weak wall against her midsection. She paused, stepped back, and prodded it with an elbow, feeling it give a little under pressure. So he had found her. All need for stealth gone the wolverine dashed around, already having found his location and leaped into the air, throwing two of her snowballs for Coren's neck and torso as she lunged by him, falling into the snow exposed with a resounding thump. |

Coren just rolled his eyes at her retort about invisible limbs not allowed, invisible or not, limbs where limbs in his opinion. Besides there were no rules so he couldn't break them anyway. When he felt something brush against his projected arm he grinned. He had found her, he looked towards the place he was feeling her. Eyes widening in shock as he saw the woman diving out of her hiding spot and throw a barrage of snowballs at him. He barely managed to avoid them by ducking behind the tree he had been using as shelter. The snowballs smashed into a fine poweder as they hit the tree with a dull thud. Thank god the girl didn't have that good of aim when she was running, or otherwise he would have been a snow puppet by now.
“I need to have some kind of advantage against you and your sharp senses don't I?” He yelled back as he gave a short peek, to make sure he knew where she was before reaching out with his projected limb and trying to grasp her somewhere to make her a bit less agile, either way whither he had a hold of her or not he launched his single snowball at her as hard as he could without sacrificing aim. He wasn't going to lose this one. |

She felt something grab her leg, holding her down a bit as she struggled to get up. She squirmed, yanking her leg as hard as she could and grinned when she felt a release of pressure, the grip was not as strong as it could have been. Despite her small victory, as she looked around she saw a snowball headed hard and fast for her face, powerless to stop it. It exploded on contact powder and ice scraping her face gently.
The Kelvic sat up, coughed and spluttered out bits of water and ice, then began laughing, her face red and dripping from the impact of the ball.
"You win this one, Mage."
She wiped off her face as the laughter transformed into light chuckling which too faded until the wolverine just held a content smile and lay back in the snow, arms behind her head, listening to her heart rate calm its thrumming pace. When she spoke the humor had all but left her voice, a more thoughtful tone consuming her mind.
"I think I sometimes forget what fun is with all of the horrible things happening in the city." She paused for a moment, then said a bit more quietly, "Thank you, Coren."
Dark eyes gazed up at the clear and cold sky, her breath making rivulet of steam that jetted up into the air |

Coren frowned as he moved his limb to intercept sliver, it was more sluggish then it should be, was he already tiring from its use? No matter, it was still a far way of from being close to overgiving since he still had a good deal of control over it. Unfortunally, the slight delay in his attempt to grab her did mean he didn't get a good grip on her and the slight tiredness made it easy for her to break out of his grip. Luckely for him she had been standing still while she did that, which was enough for his snowball to hit right on target.
He let out a soft laugh as the kelvic began to crack up, slowly beginning to retract his projected limb towards himself, seeing as she didn't dart of to places unknown to get back at him. “Without a doubt.” Coren replied in an amused voice as he angled his projected limb with the limp body part of his and slowly began to ease it back inside, starting with the fingertips and working his way up, the procedure was nearly second nature by now.
When he was done he raised his now functional again right limb and tested it out for any malfunctions, clenching a first a few times before shovign it back in his pocket, satisfied with its performance. “It is indeed quite easy to do that in these days, especially with all the strange things that have been happening this season.” Coren responded. A smile underneath his mask. “I found it just as fun as you did, so you don't really need to thank me. Besides, I probably could have used it more then you did.” He looked her over, frowning a bit underneath his hood as he noticed the rather soaked kelvic. Remembering the fact that she wasn't as impervious to cold then vantha. “Maybe we should get you inside, its going to get dark and colder soon and since you don't have morwens mark yet you can't handle the freezing cold when soaked. Pneumonia isn't a joke.” Coren offered. |
