Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

Summer 82, 512 AV

Samael pulled back his hood cloak back revealing his unnatural white hair and blue eyes. He ran his hand along the wall as he walked ,tapping his sword on his shoulder. If the inside of this city is half as beautiful as the outside than this trip could be worth while. The sound of the nearby water crashing against the cliffs reminded Samael of his dreaded youth .

Knowing this was no time to think of his parents ,Samael walked towards the entrance of the gate looking forward to what the city may hold. Before he could even pass the threshold Samael stopped by a large hooded man. "You must have that sword for a reason young man, I hope you don't have any plans to cause trouble."The monk grinned as he held Samael's family sword."Don't touch my sword or It'll be bad for everyone.I have no plans to cause anyone harm ,I've only come to visit the market." The monk laughed as he tossed Sam back his sword."Enjoy the visit but you cause trouble and the poleaxe will have your head."

[Nyka Location] The Gates

Postby Kelvin Typhoon on August 15th, 2012, 1:55 am

Summer 87, 512 AV.

The suns rays beat down on the tiny ship fast approaching the Nyka docks. It was a warm day even for this place, but that wasn't the strange thing. The thing most people would notice, if they happen to be standing around the docks, was that no one was sailing this boat. The wheel just swaying back and forth as it rocked on the waves. It began to skip along the waves as it came in closer to the docks and if someone looked hard enough they could see something bouncing on the deck.

Crates swayed on the ship, bottles hitting the rail making a clanking sound. Finally the sight of someone standing up could be seen, a bottle in hand and pipe in mouth. Scratching his head the man casually walked over to the port of the small vessel, yawning and looking around. Suddenly, it appeared that he figured out what was going on and scrambled to pull the sails down from the mast. Unable to actually get the mast down completely the man ran over to the wheel, spinning it wildly trying to pull the boat away from the docks.

The ship began to turn but it seemed it was too late. It crashed into one of the out stretched dock walks and came to a rocking halt. And all was quiet, for a moment. Then came the roaring sounds of a Sevfra raging in his native tongue. " Petching currents! Who be leavin' the silks up while I nap?! I better not fines the buggah who..oh... " Suddenly the man stopped, realizing, he was on a one man ship. Grunting he hopped over the side of the ship, landing horribly awkward on the rattled dock. " Whelp, it be lookin' like I may be in for some troubles... " he said as he surveyed the damages. By luck or by god the ship had slowed down enough to only take out a portion of the walk way and some scratches and patch work needed damage to the ship.

Shaking his head he looked around the docks, noticing that the people there were giving him dangerous looks. With a wave and a smile he shouted, " Don't cha' worry. I'll be fixin' this here wooded walk. " As he spoke he tried to hurry to the gate, a bit afraid these people were going to take the damages out of him themselves. He thought to himself, " Oh gods, don't go lettin' these people string me up.. "

Not thinking of where he was walking he continued to head into the city, until he bumped into a guard. " Oh, s'cuse me there. Beggin' yer pardon but, where be I? " the man's tone was childish at best, trying to seem like he was not the one who had just crashed into the docks. " Nyka, " the guard said coldly, " Who..are you? "

The man took a step back and gave a thud to his chest, " The name be Kelvin, Kelvin Typhoon. And don't chu worry none..you...very big guard you. I'm just here to..uhm..oh! Sell fish! That's right, just here to sell my wares. But first..ya mind pointin' me in the general direction of a drink? " kelvin smiled as wide as he possibly could, sweat falling from his brow.

All the sudden the guard lifted his hand, making Kelvin's stomach fall to his knees. Then he heard the guard speak, " Go that way. And stay out of trouble! " Upon hearing that Kelvin didn't even give a moment for response. He just started walking quickly following the way the guard had pointed and waved as he did.

Autumn, 70th 512AV

Lance sighed as he dismounted and pulled his tired jet black horse through the gates. His head was low for he was tired and wore. As well as sore from the ride. He was glad to be able to be walking finally. He needed to escape his previous life but he knew it would haunt him forever. At least he could try to drown out the fact that his mother and sister were dead as well but his brother was still an annoying little petcher. He briskly entered the city, not pushing Ancentrial to go any faster.

With his sword at his side, his black cloak reflected the small rain droplets that fell. "Young man, welcome to Nyka, but may I ask your intentions?"

"Sir, I am simply trying to find a better life. I am a lone traveler who's family is every bit as dead as a nail. Having been beaten and sold into slavery I see myself as a lost cause. I am out here simply trying to find it. I am not one to cause trouble and you can rest assured that I will be as quiet as a mouse through these walls."

The monk nodded then motioned towards the entrance.

Fall, 90th 512 AV

Dau gestured politely to the monks guarding the entrance. His steps were light and he kept his head up, cognizant of the strength each monk could demonstrate.

"Good afternoon sirs, I'm on my way home," he gave a shallow, but polite bow, and passed by. The monks murmured their affirmation, and Dau continued unhindered.

[Nyka Location] The Gates

Postby Volens on November 9th, 2012, 6:04 pm

Volens held loosely on the tack of his horse, and only companion. He slowly made his way down the barely traveled road to Nyka. He patted his horse on the flank, and whispered, “I told you we would find a city eventually.” His horse snorted heavily in acknowledgement.
The great walls of Nyka seemed to stretch on forever, and a cool breeze blew in from the Ocean. The only entrance was in the west, and only required some effort to find. It was patrolled with 4 monks, one armed with a heavy halberd. Volens had never been to Nyka, Clay never said anything about it, in his teachings. Volens slowly walked to the gate guards, who motioned him to stop.
One monk began to search the saddle bags on Compar, while a second one searched Volens, and said, “What’s your business in Nyka?”
Volens thought for a moment, he wasn’t really sure, “Well, I’m a traveler. So I would like to restock my food supplies, and then I might travel some where by boat.”
The monk finished his search, “ You know that buying food is forbidden inside the city?”
“I wasn’t aware of that, how do I get food?”
“you have to apply for a visa,” the monk turned to his friends, and they all seemed to enjoy their little joke, “they aren’t easy to get.” The monk nodded Volens on.

[Nyka Location] The Gates

Postby Penn Zay on November 12th, 2012, 11:25 pm

Penn shifted into her human form and pulled her clothes on, just out of sight from the gates of Nyka, before picking up her bag containing everything she owned.
Then walked towards the gates, quietly and carefully, her body moving in a very feline manner as she got closer and closer to the gates when she found herself being stopped by a monk.
"What is your business in Nyka?" he asked, causing Penn to tilt her head and look at him curiously, before looking at the walls again. "Well?" the monk asked again...
"Nyka..." Penn sighed, the word rolling off her tongue like honey. "It's so pretty... So very pretty..."
Penn looked back at the monk with her pale grey eyes and blinked slightly as she tilted her head again.
The monk finally gave up and silently waved Penn in, allowing her into Nyka. A city unlike anything she'd seen before...

Zhangtailam smirked as he stalked towards the Gates of Nyka! Such a pretty place... Perfect for causing a little bit of chaos!
He glanced at a monk who was about, through his dead white eyes, and the monk closed his mouth, allowing the Kelvic to walk through the gates and into the city...
What idiots they were!

Postby Irowyn on November 24th, 2012, 6:31 pm

Irowyn's journey had been a long one but this was nothing alien to him. What he wasn't used to were the overbearing feelings of isolation and exclusion. This was the first time in which he had been a complete stranger in a huge city...and didn't feel at home. He couldn't wait to unpack his tent and lay his head to rest and Intrepid couldn't have been feeling much better. However, he knew better than that.

He had seen enough of the world that he knew that he would have to get acclimated here first. The general demeanor of these guards didn't make him feel much safer. He had seen city militias which represented all stages of the spectrum from pious to corrupt. His experience told him that he'd be safe here but only if he avoided rash or downright stupid decisions. He rode his weary horse through the opening of the great city walls and set off to explore some of this new city and to get a feel for the culture of these people at Nyka.

[Nyka Location] The Gates

Postby Devlin Blackern on November 26th, 2012, 9:16 pm

Devlin whistled tunelessly as he wandered up the road to Nyka. The city loomed over him, salty breeze coming in off the ocean and ruffling his hair. He stopped on the road and took a deep breath, leaning back and letting his eyes scan the walls. He turned his head, eyeing the woods he'd left behind.

He sighed and continued walking. It was about time he had some human interaction. He'd been in the wild for a long time. A pair of horseman came trotting by and Devlin stepped to the side of the road. He didn't like horses. He'd never really liked horses. Something about them didn't sit right with him. Maybe it was the eyes...or perhaps the lips. Either way, Devlin didn't trust horses. He'd ride one if he had to, but he'd be damned if he enjoyed it.

He finally meandered up to the gate, only to be stopped by a rough hand to the chest. One of the monk's, glaring out from under a thick monobrow, opened his mouth.

"What's your business here stranger?" He asked, all deep voice and dark eyes.

"Just doin' a bit of traveling. Never been to Nyka before, thought I'd stop in and take in the sights. Problem with that friend?" Devlin asked, cracking a smile.

"Long as you keep that bow on your back. I'd head to the Safe Haven. You'll fit in there," the monk said, leaning back against the stone wall.

"I'll keep that in mind," Devlin said. He nodded at the monk and made his way through the gate and into the city proper.
