Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful, this location is one of rest and of life. Formed from an outlet of the Bluevein, its crystal clear waters offer a view to an indeterminable depth, with brightly colored plants serving to break up the monotony of the green which dominates the Sea of Grass. Various aquatic creatures and amphibians make this lake their home, making it an attractive location for the people of Endrykas to bring in a small haul of fish back to their clans and pavilions. Common fish include tilapia, as well as various catfish and pike.
In the area immediately surrounding the lake, the grass lies a bit lower than the majority of the grassland. As a result, it’s a much safer area for people and animals alike. The view offers early warning from predators, making escape much easier. It serves as a gathering for not only the animals who call the Sea of Grass their home, but for the denizens of Cyphrus who wish to enjoy a rare moment of relaxation in the usually dangerous grasslands. When the moving city is near the lake, it’s not uncommon for the Drykas to frequent its cool waters for refreshment, recovery, or event an invigorating dip.
Though the location is much more open when compared to others in the deep grass, it still serves as a hunting location for those seeking a meal. While in the area, the people of Endrykas will send out small hunting groups to stalk the region around the waters, searching for meat to bring back for trading and consumption. The hunting is, however, self regulated by the Drykas. This is to preserve balance in the ecosystem, preventing the overhunting of any particular creature, and to ensure the animals do not consider their watering hole too dangerous to use. In a somewhat mutually beneficial relationship, the hunters will also ensure that natural predators in the area are kept controlled to prevent an abundance of them. This again preserves the balance which could be disturbed by their own hunting.
The lake is named in honor of Serifal Drykas, believed to be the first rider of renowned Striders of Cyphrus. Rumors abound that he favored this lake as a place of calm. He and his strider Rakivas would recover from long, hard days in the vicious Sea of Grass by taking a cool dip in the clear waters. Many a young aspiring Drykas have swam in this lake hoping to one day have stories told about them.
