One bell came and went without any sign of activity. Two bells passed by without anything eventful happening. The third bell wasn't much better. On the fourth bell however, the sound of footsteps began to sound softly outside the office. A few ticks later, a voice accompanied it. A decidedly high and feminine one. "So you're really an artist? How did you know I wanted to be a model?"

"My dear," Ignotus drawled from the other side of the wall. "Didn't I tell you I had an eye for beauty? I simply had to have you. Now, I hope you're not too distasteful of the sort of office one who's out of his luck has..." he said as the doorknob began to turn. "And don't mind the other woman. She's a dear friend of mine. A professor! Bit of a private type, though."
"Other woman?" the girl asked coldly.
"Oh come now, sweetie, isn't it a little early to be getting jealous?" Ignotus chortled, the female voice joining in after a couple ticks. Then the door opened, and a young lass with wavy red hair stepped in. She had a round, naive looking face, and was a little under five and a half feet. She couldn't have been much older than fifteen.

Evidently Evalin's victim was a wee bit confused, as she frowned and turned to Ignotus, who was still standing silhouetted in the doorway. "I don't understand... Where's the paint? And the easels? I see a lot of drawings, but not of people..."

"You're not very bright, are you?" A cold, jeering voice retorted. A voice that could quickly be ascribed to the man in the doorway, though it didn't sound much like Ignotus any more. It wasn't completely alien, but his inflection and tone had changed radically. With a step and a slam, the wizard entered the room with the soon-to-be-dead girl and shut the door behind him, darkness swallowing the three of them again. Ignotus could have done the torturing himself, but really, it wouldn't do to spoil a gift. "She's all yours, darling." the Hypnotist crooned to Evalin before descending into a short, expectant cackle.

[Flashback]Thwarting Tanroa(Evalin)

Evalin's eyes opened slowly as the Ignotus brought the woman before her. Within her mind the carving fought be be herd, sending a thudding pain coursing down her spine to fill her entire body with an urge that almost had her leap from where she sat to grab the woman, and yet years of hard learned experienced held her back as she stood ever so slowly. A smile began to spread upon her lips as she made to circle her desk, a hand running along the dusty surface as she spoke, eyes never leaving the girl, "Yes... This will do quite nicely..."

Eyes of scarlet, like fresh spilt blood, coursed over the woman's figure, taking in every curve, every hair, every intricate and delicate line that made up her physical form. Her age, her appearance were all so... perfect, My my... perhaps there is hope yet for this one.

"W-what is going on?" The poor child spoke in a quite voice, looking at Ignotus and back at Evalin, "I thought we were goint--" A sudden gasp caught her words as Evalin moved with such speed that denied the normal logic of the world, a hand firmly clasping the woman's shoulder while the other gently stroked one cheek. Those eyes... Those dark red eyes stared deep into the green eyes of the poor girl who had grown silent, trembling under the terrible look that filled teh gaze of the immortal.

Evalin's smile widened and she released the woman, letting her fall back against the desk as she turned to look at Ignotus. Stepping close she leaned against his chest, reaching a hand up to rest against his cheek as she purred close to his ear, "You have done very well... I shall gift you what you desire, if you give me but a few moments more." Drawing back the immortals eyes turned once more onto the woman, and she spoke loudly enough so that she could hear, "I am very pleased with this gift my dear boy. Very pleased indeed."

"W-what are y-you going to do to..." She could not finish her sentence as Evalin began to draw closer. Those eyes of green grew wider, as she opened and closed her mouth a few times, but before any words could be uttered Evalin has placed her palm across those lips, silencing anything that might have been said, "There now my child, fear not... I shall release you from the cruel hands of Fate..." Muffled words were shushed as Evalin raised her other hand to caress the woman's collar bone, "Think you not any longer, for I shall free you from the worries of this world."

With quick movements Evalin's hand moved from the woman's lips to her neck, fingers grasping tightly as her other hand wrapped about the woman's waist. Grunting under the woman's weight Evalin leveraged her against the desk, kicking the woman's legs from under her so that she could slam her body against the tables surface. A gasp, followed by a grunt, escaped the woman just as Evalin leapt upon the table herself, straddling the smaller girl and clasping her hands flat over her head, using her weight to hold the girl down.

"NO w-wait please don't!" The girl tried to call, but those eyes of red only surged brighter with lust fueled by the fire of the woman's fear. From every pore Evalin called the power within her to be released, transforming into a gaseous form to float and encircle the two on the table. Though Evalin felt the drain on her power, and knew she would regret it later, the craving gave her body more strength to ignore the sensations to better focus on the task at hand. The res distributed itself into 5 even clumps, coming together to form perfect spheres about the size of a fist. With a hiss Evalin let the waves of passion within her fuel the spell, igniting the each of the balls of res at once and fueling them with the flames of desire as the licked her soul from within. The scene created could be descried as erie. The 5 spheres of fire slowly rotated, casting shadows across the already dim room and bringing new light to the horror upon the table that was more and more beginning to look like some form of sacrifice to a blood thirsty deity.

The girl struggled, yet the weight of the woman over her could not be thrown off so easily. The strange flickering lights and fear clouded her judgement, causing her mind to fog over as instinct took over and she cried sweet bitter tears from her very soul. Evalin's smile remained as it was, transfixed and amplified by the flickering shadows to twist her expression into that of some heinous gargoyle. Leaning down the immortal would whisper softly in the child's ear, "Be silent now... Your light shall feed the darkness within me, and so you shall live on in my ambition. Be happy... You are giving now offering to me your strength so that I might right the greatest wrongs of this world."

The immortal then did something rather strange... she kissed the child's forehead... Then her cheek... Her hear, moving down to plant kisses down the girls' neck to her exposed clavicle. There Evalin paused, opening her mouth to breath upon the pale neck of the girl who whimpered under her, "You have the sweetest scent..." With a feral growl Evalin's entire body lurched forward as she sunk her teeth into the girl's neck, hard enough to draw blood and cause the girl's eyes to widen yet locking her scream in her throat. Drawing back Evalin's lips dripped crimson as she licked at the ruby drups that cascaded down the girl's shoulder, and then the screams filled the room as the poor child found her voice and called out her greatest pain and despair.

Chucking softly Evalin once more lunged at the child's neck, the screams echoing louder as the girl's eyes fogged over with unrestrained terror. A sound akin to ripping leather could be heard as Evalin drew back, spiting something upon the floor before returning to the girl's neck, from which the flow of blood had increased to the point that a red tide now washed down and soaked the ground below. Sounds filled the room, reminiscent of an animal lapping water from a stream or feeding upon fresh meat. The immortals head drew back several times more, spitting more particles upon the floor before returning to drink of the girl's essence. Each time she pulled back stains of red would mark higher up her cheek and down her neck, yet she showed no signs of slowing. The girl had long since passed out, silence unbroken save for the sounds of pleasure that Evalin echoed from time to time...

After several chimes Evalin final slowed, raising her head and straightening her back to look up at the cold stones above her. Closing her eyes she would lick the ruby drops that clung to her lips before slowly turning to look at Ignotus from where she still straddled the girl, "My... what a pleasant meal that was. My dear boy, you have done well." Moving slowly, from both the drain on her soul by the still floating fire and the exhaustion of holding the girl, Evalin came down from the table, moving close to Ignotus to look up at him with her red stained lips, "Come then... Shall we go?"

She smiled slowly, waving a hand and throwing commands to the floating orbs. One fell upon the desk, its core igniting to set the wood ablaze, two more flew to ignite the papers that laid scattered about the room, and the final 2 fell upon the girl who still lived. As they landed Evalin would whisper softly, "Hakin." Igniting all of their course so that they would feed upon the fuel they found themselves upon. The girl's screams echoed once more as the fire began to lick at her skin, singing flesh and hair. Rolling from the table she would try to stand, but the pain and loss of blood disoriented her, and she could do little more than stumble from wall to wall as she was slowly consumed.

Stepping past Ignotus Evalin would hold the door open for the man, closing it shut and locking it once more before turning to walk down the silent hallway, "What a shame... the poor child should know better than to carry a lit candle into a room with so many flammable objects...

"Think nothing of it, my dear." Ignotus purred to his preserved paramour. When the girl asked what was going on, the wizard couldn't help but laugh. "It's quite simple really, my dear meal ticket." he said in a light, mocking voice, "You're going to die in this room. Don't feel too bad, though. Your demise means I'll live forever. Think of yourself as a noble martyr, dying selflessly for her fellow man."

Even Ignotus couldn't take himself seriously then, and fell into a fresh fit of giggles as the screams started. Giggles that only grew in intensity at the sight of the girl's pain and terror. It wasn't hard to puzzle out why. Ignotus enjoyed seeing her suffer. What Evalin was forced to do by divine compulsion, he simply saw as a bit of fun. He was a bit disappointed though that she was passed out already. "Tsk tsk. I'll have to show you a savory meal one of these days..." he said wryly. Of course, Ignotus wasn't a cannibal, but what was wrong with seasoning some meat for one?

Following Evalin, Ignotus' grin slowly subsided to a smirk. He shrugged at her little joke about the girl's fate, remarking, "Really? It seemed more like a suicide to me. I suppose the Wave Guard will decide later."
The prattling conversation took a backseat in the Hypnotist's mind now. Soon. Soon he would live forever.

Evalin smiled slowly as she pulled her hood back into place, the sound of her staff echoing on the stones as she made her way down the hallway. Her mind felt as if it floated upon clounds, and her soul began to feel heavy, as if weighed down by a great weight. Voices danced within her mind as she felt the growing strain of the use of her djed growing with every step...

Be damned... to this rate I shall crumble upon the floor long before the ritual is begun... she thought to herself, casting a glance behind her to the man who followed eagerly. Her limbs felt as if lead weights were tied upon them, and try as she might her vessel began to fail her. Thinking quickly the woman paused at the first classroom she found, turning to smile at Ignotus, leaning upon her staff. Raising a hand she would speak, "Well by boy... your prize is well earned, and for your gracious offering I shall indeed offer you the chalice of immorality, however, I require time to prepare."

She would turn her head to the side, as if she had to think of all that had to be done in preparation. Nodding slowly she would look back at the man, "Return to this room 8 bells past the sun's set, and I shall have prepared your final resting place."

Without pausing to listen to whatever the man might say, whether it be a protest or now Evalin would open the door to the classroom, stepping inside and speaking the crack in the door just before it closed, "Remember, 8 bells past sun's set and not a chime sooner. Much as to be prepared in order for this to be a success..." With that the door would close with a 'click' and Ignotus would be left to wait one more day for what he had dreamt of so long. After waiting for this long, a single day more couldn't be so bad, right?

Once she was certain that Ignotus had left Evalin would slump against the desk at the front of the classroom, her staff clattering to the ground as she slipped to teh foor. Her mind felt hazed, her body as if it were pulled down by a thousand pounds. Whispers of the strangest and frightening nature filled her mind, pushing her to cast just one... more...spell... but she ignored all this, shaking her head and covering her features with her hands, "Curse this body... curse my weakness..." She would sigh, growing still as she awaited the following day...

In light of Evalin's less than ceremonious dismissal, Ignotus was left with little option but to retire until tomorrow. He passed by the girl's ashes with nary a second glance as he left the office.

It was difficult to sleep that night. Strange, crimson dreams haunted his resting hours, and he awoke a full bell before the appointed time. After quite a few chimes of waiting outside the door to the office, he knocked on the door of Evalin's office on exactly the 8th bell after sunset. After that, all that was left was to wait.

OOCSorry for the shortness of the post. It didn't seem a particularly important one :P

It had taken Evalin some time to recover her strength, yet while she sat against the wall her mind wondered over various thoughts and contemplations, thinking upon how she would present the transformation for this man. About 3 bells before he arrived Evalin slowly stood, moving to check the contents of the classroom for what might be useful to her. In several drawers she found chalk for the board at the front, as well as several candles. Absently Evalin wondered why a classroom required so many candles, but then with a shrug she dismissed this thought to move on to far more interesting endeavors.

The classroom was rather small, but Evalin new she would have to make due. She pushed all of the desks and chairs to the side, leaving a space about about 10 feet across with which to work with. Taking up the chalk she drew a circle in the center of the floor, about 6 feet in diameter. Within the circle she drew another circle just within the first, and a third, smaller circle in the very center. She then connected six lines from the innermost circle to the center circle. Along each line she began to draw, scratching words written in the ancient tongue with a slow hand. Words such as "Maintain" and "Survive" were a dime a dozen, yet three symbols appeared at very specific points along the lines: "Death", "Abandon", "Life". Each of these words were drawn once upon each line, a line drawn to connect these words in such a way as to link them together to form another circle within the drawing.

Finally Evalin stood, dusting off her hands and moving to collect the candles. She placed then in a ring around the drawing, and upon the desks and chairs that were pushed back to make room for the ceremony. Once all of the candles were in place Evalin stood in the center of the arrangements, closing her eyes and summoning her power to flow and swell once again. From every pour res bubbled up, flowing from her like steam that distorted the world seen through it. Waving her hands as a director might a baton, Evalin directed the res to form man tiny little balls, sending each to float over the wick of a candle. Then with a his she igniting them, each wick catching fire to cast its own wavering light about the room.

It was at this time that Evalin heard the knock upon the door, and with a sigh Evalin moved to open the door, waving her hand to motion him in, "Come then child, let us begin."

Ignotus raised an eyebrow as he glanced over the trio of circles and the phrases written in them. Phrases he could read. It was certainly a queer ceremony...
"All right. How do we go about this?"

But it would work, and that was what was important. Still, what exactly it would do was starting to concern him. The circles weren't for Summoning, and what little he was aware of Animation, he didn't think that was it either. Indeed, it was unlike any circle he was aware of. What then would it do exactly? It wasn't impossible that she was going to betray him. But where else would he find the key to immortality?

It didn't stop him from disliking the thought of putting his life in someone else's hands, but he didn't have any other recourse.

OOCI did not see you online so I took a couple of liberties again. PLEASE tell me if I should alter my post :)

Evalin reveled in the man's discomfort, fed upon his obvious unease, and so her smile grew as she said, "Remove your clothing and step into the circle."

Her amusement grew as she watched him do as she instructed, and of course he would. He wished to gain immortality, and indeed that is exactly what he would get... Though perhaps it would not be just as he expects. she mused.

Once his clothing was removed Evalin would step forward with the ink once more, using her finger to draw the symbols upon his body. Across his chest, down his arms and legs the symbols flowed. Each word spelled out a story, one that rang with power and potential. The symbol for "Death" and "Life" appeared multiple times, as did "Immortality" and "Perseverance". Other words found their way into the mixed, each coming together to form a chain of powerful glyphs that would, hopefully, aid him in his journey. As she worked she spoke softly to Ignotus, "I sense your unease, your discomfort and... fear perhaps?" she would smile, "Though it is a strange thought for those who still live, fear is not a hinderance. It is an aid, a powerful tool when controlled. Fear tells us many things. When to flee, what to avoid, an do of course warns of those whom would harm us..."

Evalin chuckled, drawing a glyph upon the man's hand, "You will face madness. You will face a darkness and fear unlike anything you have ever experienced before." Her eyes looked up to catch his, "You will die."

Standing Evalin reached up to draw a symbol upon Ignotus' forehead, where he could not see it. The word she drew was "Remember". A simple, powerful word that hopefully would take effect as he was in the midst of the darkness. When death loomed over people tend to forget what they were, their reasons for being, yet with this glyph perhaps he would find his purpose and reason for being a little simpler to hold onto, Though it might also heighten his remembrance of this day, and what he owes to me.

Hiding a smile she moved to his back, drawing a large glyph there that took up most of the small of his back. "Evalin". This final glyph was then connected to the ones upon Ignotus' shoulders with a set of lines, and the rest of the glyphs were connected in a similar way. Once all this was finished Evalin stepped back, turning to the desk and picking up a bucket which sat close to it. From the folds of her robes she withdrew a knife, cutting deep into her wrist Evalin let the black ichor flow free, "Lay upon the circle, and when I present this bucket to you drink every last drop." As more of her life flowed out Evalin felt her strength waver, yet she did not let it show. Not yet...

Once the bucket was almost full Evalin clamped her hand over the wound, wrapping it in her cloak to slow the flow. Taking the bucket she walked to Ignotus, handing it to him. As she did she allowed some of her own djed infused ichor to fall upon the drawn lines over his body, adding a bit of her power to give them life. With a smile Evalin stepped back, "Die well boy. Perhaps we shall meet in eternity."

The ceremony was starting to become... Interesting, to say the least... Evalin's little speech didn't faze him that much... Until she mentioned he would die. Die? How would that work? He had heard vague stories of undead, but those couldn't be real... Could they?

"Of course they could! You yourself vomit fire and bend minds!"

There was a way to find out for certain if Evalin was finding out the truth. And, of course, a fun little something for her to remember him by...

When the Nuit offered him the bucket, he took it... Along with her wrist. Steeling himself for a very macabre possibility, he tugged the witch towards him before planting a kiss on her cold, preserved lips. To make sure he wasn't incinerated, he pulled Djed to the location in order to make the whole thing a little more pleasurable for Evalin. Simply transferring a vague sort of lust that was easily dismissed and more easily buried under surprise.

After a tick, Ignotus was satisfied with the data gathered by such a move.
"Yep, that settles it. Definitely undead."

He pushed Evalin back by her shoulder and stepped into the circle again, before raising the bucket like one would in a toast with an arrogant grin. "Until we meet again, Evalin."

And with that, he laid down and downed the bucket's contents.

The ichor tasted like a strange cross between ice and mucus, and was cold and uncomfortably slimy running down his throat, but that was the least unpleasant part. In ticks, a ghostly chill spread to his stomach, and into his arteries as the milky fluid overtook blood. His pupils shrank to pinpricks, his heart hammered erratically, and his face contorted in pain. The frost soon spread to Ignotus' veins as well. His breathing was coming in pained wheezes, and his hands clawed madly at the floor.

Ignotus no longer felt warmth in his body. His eyelids fluttered, then closed. The man's body seized up once more before falling completely and utterly still. There was one long, final exhale, then his lungs stopped, and his heart beat no more.

For a moment, he could see her. A woman robed in black, with two jackals at her sides. One as dark as night, the other white as snow. She was looking directly at him, a bemused expression on her face. She and the jackals were approaching. "Is this... Dira?.." Ignotus wondered weakly. Suddenly, the woman stopped, her brows furrowed, and then all was darkness and silence.

Chimes passed. Evalin was gone. There wasn't the slightest movement from the corpse on the ground. Then, without warning, its eyelids twitched, then slowly slid open. Its deceased lips curled, and a soft giggle filled the quiet of the room.
It worked...
The giggle soon intensified into a giddy laugh, and then a full on cackle.
It worked!
He was too weak to move, but that didn't matter. It was only temporary. He was forever!
IT WORKED!!!

Ignotus Everto was dead, but not departed.
