Chance or Fortune?

15th of Fall, 512AV
Nitrozian Plaza

Kelmar was in the process of making another lap of the Nitrozian Plaza, his eyes intently observing the scene around him as Syna slowly rose to her midday zenith. As usual, the square was bustling with activity, street performers drawing small audiences and people either rushing from place to place in a hurry or casually strolling alongside friends as they gossiped about the city. So many things whispered and chatted from mouth to ear, each a small clip of information that could be potentially useful to someone in Kelmar's line of work. To those who knew how to access it, the Nitrozian Plaza was a hive of information constantly updating itself against the many different sources that milled about it daily. Even rumors could be useful if pursued correctly, and if there's even some truth to it then simply hearing of the information can set an agent on the right path.

As for Kelmar, he wasn't there on business, at least not yet. Just as the rumors spread in the plaza could be used to help progress jobs, it could also be used to find jobs. People often gossiped about the wealthy merchant families, about grievances between some and alliances between others, and often proved a ripe source of information for a freelance. All he would need was the mention of a recent action by one house against another, and then the target's reaction, and Kelmar would know who to look for. However, at this point he hadn't heard of any jobs yet, which wasn't a first but was definitely an uncommon occurrence, especially considering the reliability of the rumors was decent at best. If Kelmar weren't so distant, he might be frustrated or annoyed, but remaining in his cool and calculating demeanor he continued his lap of the plaza, keeping his eyes and ears open.

Dedicated as he was to finding work and then executing it to his best, Kelmar rarely took the chance to actually pay attention to the street performers, which was a shame because there were certainly a few he would have enjoyed were he to stop and watch long enough. The young man was fascinated with power and skill and ability, and though he was convinced of honing his particular skills for the moment he never stopped to think of the gifts of the everyday performers, and there were quite a few he would find fascinating. One of whom he was about to meet more personally.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Amelia Cross on November 16th, 2012, 7:33 pm

[15th of fall, 512 A.V. ]
[The Nitrozian Plaza]

Such a calm day in the plaza, Amelia had little to do after her father had gone out in order to fulfill his duties in the name of Rhysol. Not only did Amelia never in her life approve of her fathers dedication, now was special. She had no clue how much time she was given to spend in the city of canals before she is forced to head back to Zeltiva. On top of everything, she was troubled by just how calm the day had been. Even though Ravok had always been kept in order, she remembered the city full of dirt of bout morals and actions. None the less, the only thing she could hear was some of the people here whispering.

It toke her just one little glance over at the direction of the voices that had caught her attention. The tone of speech was so much like the one childhood friends would use and they were all smiling. However, you could see there posture identified hatred and disgust. Probably disgust of the family they were putting down, Valdinox if she could make it out correctly. ’how predictable of the people here’ Amelia thought somewhere in the back of her head, before she felt something poke her side.

”Fauna, behave or I shall take you back to fathers stable” The pale girl said in a soft manner as she ran her long fingers through the mane of her beloved horse. She thought, no, she knew it understood every word she said, but was too stubborn to obey her. ”I know you aren’t found of this city, but you will get used to it, I promise” the girl continued as she wrapped her arms around the horses neck, inhaling it’s scent deep into her lungs. These actions made her feel like if she was home, but Ravok never really was her home. Even now she could feel eyes of disgust looking on her. She couldn’t even tell if it was disgust of her horse in a city, her affection to it or the girl’s attire. It was a fine dress, but here she often felt like a street rat, this was one of those times. None the less, she didn’t let emotions get to her face. Only her eyes showed the little bit of pain she felt, her face was stone solid and showed nothing but boredom.

”Fauna, common” Amelia demanded once she noticed her horse had stopped, clearly amused by the anger that was burring up in her eyes the horse did nothing but let out a low neigh, indicating her thoughts clearly as she decided to lay down. ”…what am I supposed to do with you?” Amelia asked, not really expecting an answer as her small anger turned into amusement, while she pulled out her deck of tarot. This had been a gift, a gift from a special person and she would cherish it. Just for a moment, her face would lighten up as she pulled out one card from the deck, the fool. This card had always held a special place in Amelia’s life; it seemed to come out whenever she was questioning her own decisions or path of life. ”new beginnings, eh? How many of those can we get, Fauna?” she almost giggled before putting the card back in the deck and shuffling it a few times. Actually it has been quite a long time since Amelia had practices her fortune telling on anyone but herself or her mother. This made a thought occur in her head, perhaps she should practice it on someone now, not like she had anything better to do and earning a few mizas won’t hurt.

Amelia let her gaze wonder from one person to the other, she knew getting to a group was so much harder than grabbing onto someone who is wondering alone. So her eyes didn’t stop at anyone who was accompanied by someone. However, she couldn’t find anyone who was alone and looked available, until her eyes found a man. He was tall, surly over 6 ft, walking proud, surly of the nobility here with his quite slim built. ”purrfect” Amelia spoke to herself before readjusting her face to a fun smile and inviting glance. She almost skipped over to the man while shuffling her cards skillfully, throwing them from one palm to the other, stopping only when she had reached the quite taller man ”Does the Sir crave to know his future?” Amelia asked whit her voice softly trying to gain his attention. ”…money, luck and desires…I hold the answers to your curiosity in my hands” She smiled, only to pull out a card and look at it, the fool. If she wasn’t trying to gain a potential customer, she’d probably be laughing now.

OOCAs of much latter, I found out that a horse in Ravok is practically impossible...I promise this is the only thread featuring it

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Kelmar Hedos on November 17th, 2012, 6:11 pm

Now walking along the edge of the plaza, hoping to pick up some pieces of conversation people preferred to keep private, Kelmar looked across the city center and briefly remembered a scene from his childhood. He tried not to think of his past before his days as an agent too much as they often brought the pain of emotion and melancholy, rarely did he feel good after remembering. It wasn't so much that the memories themselves were bad - to the contrary, most of his life before had been happy and full - it was remembering the loss that came afterward and how he ended up here that put this usually emotionless man in an even quieter mood.

This particular scene Kelmar remembered was when the agent was no older than about nine or ten, the little noble Hedos dragging his father around the plaza while mother Hedos dealt with the auction of some fine tapestries somewhere in the city. Mr Hedos clearly didn't wish to be here, but he had promised his son a chance to get out of the house and he was, after all, a man of his word. That didn't make him any more pleased though. The little Kelmar didn't notice though, too caught up in all the various performers and all their skills. He ran from person to person, watching each individual skill, often asking if they could teach him. All smiled at him and said they would one day if he asked again, but Kelmar was never satisfied. He'd go to each person, watching wide-eyed and asking for lessons. He was turned down each time though, and he had already made it around the plaza. Mr Hedos was getting impatient and started urging that they return home, but just as he was about to tell his son that they needed to go little Kelmar ran up to an old woman fiddling with a deck of cards.

A rustling from his side drew his attention to a pale woman approaching him, a white horse covered in black dots astride her. She was a few inches shorter than he was, wearing a fine red dress and with equally red lips. Her eyes were startling similar to his own, irises and pupils indistinguishable from each other so that they looked like a single solid hole in the middle of the white. Long black hair that was combed straight and fine fell to her hips helped complete an alien yet elegant look. In her hands was a deck of cards that constantly changed hands, flowing from one to the other. A fortune-teller most likely, but everything about her look told Kelmar that she was not merely a common street performer.

What she said to him confirmed the former part of his conclusion. Usually, Kelmar disliked being randomly approached and suddenly waylaid due to his intense work/train focus, but something about his recent recalling made him pause. He had no job currently, and as of yet had not heard any rumors that might point to one, so really he wasn't in any hurry to go anywhere or do anything at all. Studying this fortune-teller, Kelmar tried to make an analysis before replying.

her posture suggested a comfortable upbringing, back straight with her chin at a slightly higher angle than most. That kind of arrogant body language was usually employed by the wealthier citizens of Ravok, which suggested she'd at least observed such high life if not lived part of it herself. However, the horse beside her obviously belonged to the woman, else it would not be beside her, and it was laden with baggage. A traveler then most likely. Not only was it rare to see an animal allowed to wander the canals and walkways - in Nitrozian Plaza no less - but it indicated that she wasn't native to Ravok, a fact most outsiders tried to hide because of the scrutiny and... lesser favor shown by the Ebonstryfe. Perhaps either ignorant of the rules, or aware and simply bold enough to disregard them. The horse itself was getting a lot of looks, people probably wondering why it wasn't in the stables. Kelmar was wondering too, but he wasn't as annoyed. In the end, he found it hard to pin this woman down, but her eyes seemed indifferent towards him, and indifference was much better than malevolence.

His usual disregard for fortune-telling was not specific - he ignored all street performances equally these days - nor was it because he questioned the credibility. No, however fortune telling worked, there were some practices that definitely produced accurate results. Back ten years ago, when Kelmar ran up to the old woman playing about with her cards as easily a child would a toy, the old woman had the same reactionary smile to the lad that all the others did. She offered to tell him his fortune, and the young Hedos agreed readily despite his father's disapproval and dismissive claim of it all being a bunch of claptrap. Annoyed that his son had outright ignored him, he pressed the matter that they returned to the household soon. The old woman only had time to tell him a little, but it was enough to get the lad thinking. Sometime down the road, the Hedos would suffer great tragedy, but afterwards Kelmar would be freer than he'd ever been, freer than a bird.

Five years later, his parents were murdered.

So yes, he put stock in fortunes.

"Craving is a sensation I keep myself distanced from," Kelmar replies, choosing to respond in a similar fashion. "I have no interest in money, nor luck, nor desire. I am, however, curious as to what you have to say. So please, say what you will, and I will listen." Once he'd finished, he stood still, gauging her reaction and doing his best do analyze and deduct from her appearance and actions.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Amelia Cross on November 17th, 2012, 8:49 pm

Amelia could feel the man look her up and down; she couldn’t help but wonder, was he looking for something? Perhaps he was trying to satisfy his own curiosity of a human? Though, she knew that wasn’t it, unlike her, most people weren’t interested in others and their behavior. Everyone nowadays was far more interested in their own problems and forgot of the beauty of the world, she could put her life on the line that most of the people living in Ravok don’t even appreciate the beauty they are given from their windows. So logically, she assumed the man was just amused by her just like most of the nobles she would meet in Ravok due to them visiting her father, not a noble, but being a respected member of the black sun had its benefits she had to agree.

Then again, she didn’t stand out with modesty or trying to blend in either. Who could blame someone for staring and whispering behind her when she clearly wasn’t trying to even respect the rules here? Walking with a horse wasn’t exactly what someone would find fitting in this city, yet Amelia didn’t care, she even liked being thought of as a guest, even though she almost lived here.

With a slight inviting, maybe even seductive twist in her smile she looked up at the taller man once more. Trying to speak just with the use of her eyes, inviting the man to trust her and follow her, yet she broke the eye contact relatively fast, letting them travel up and down the man not bothering to hide her actions for the slightest bit. Shame was something she had lost a long time ago, and if people thought of her as a mere street performer a side show even, she had no need to claim she had some.

”cold lies” she stated with a small, even joking giggle that was skillfully acted out as she flicked the card of the fool in front of his face ”A man in Ravok is interested in 2 things, 3 if you want to divide everything in overly detailed manners” Amelia stated while circling the man in a childish manner, earning a little glare from her beloved Fauna. ”Power…” was the first thing she mentioned carefully looking at the man’s reaction before continuing ”pleasures only a woman can bring” her manner of speech becoming much deeper and seductive as she touched her own, most favorite part of the human psychology. Everyone wanted those simple pleasures, and who else knew it better than someone who cherished the goddess of pleasure, Nikali herself. ”and then…there is the simple love of money” Amelia finished with her most disliked desire one could have, she didn’t think money was irrelevant, but she didn’t find it meaningful enough to do the things she saw her father do, she cursed in her head while the gaze wondered off to a group of noble woman glaring at her horse. It didn’t bother her directly, but she could feel Fauna wasn’t thrilled of the glares and whispers, there for she decided to cut her usual convincing speech short, not to save the man’s mind from her little games, to save her friend from curses the women of Ravok were skilled in.

”but…it’s not my job to explain to you, your own mind, I just answer questions and predict” Amelia said with a bow that hinted the theatrical mock. Soon as she straightened her posture she motioned for her horse to come up and let her palm slide along Fauna’s strong neck while speaking with an amused smile ”I advised us to head to a more silent place, looks like the vultures here aren’t thrilled by my friend, and reading someone there fortune in a busy place like this isn’t smart” the fortune teller in training stated, clearly hinting the reference of vultures and the noble women of Ravok. She was glad her father allowed her to live in Zeltiva for most of her life, otherwise she'd be destined to become like this. Talking like an angel with someone's face, but covering them with dirt from behind and planning ways of hurting the people. Like the women here had nothing better to do.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Kelmar Hedos on November 18th, 2012, 2:21 am

The smile that this woman displayed wasn't quite warm. It was seductive, but not genuine, a sort of hidden agenda behind it. Her eyes traveled up and down his body, much as his had hers, and he let it happen, pinning it on natural curiosity. At least, as far as Kelmar could tell, though the suspicions were confirmed as she began to circle him like a vulture, quipping out what she saw as what a man in Ravok desired. The meaning of the fool was lost on him, though he assumed it was meant to be to his detriment. She likely did not know all the information she was giving him, but such was the pitfall of ignorance and an overabundance of self-confidence.

Her giggle suggested that she liked this kind of game, trying to toy with him and evoke a response he resisted from giving. Power did get a response from him, a turn to face her as if she might tell him more, only to realize there was nothing and swearing to control himself next time. She seemed to have no reaction to it, but if she was like him then she might be hiding a response. As for her next topic, pleasures, Kelmar noticed that her voice had sunk and her movements became more lithe, seductive. Probably a topic on which she herself had some personal... interest in. Or it could be simply for his benefit, but such was a wasted effort. The only pleasure Kelmar would ever feel was power, and that was if he felt at all. Such desires he managed to suppress in his pursuit of individual strength and power, and this woman's efforts were wasted trying to prompt a response. When she moved onto her last axiom, he felt his lip curl slightly. Money. Money was what his family had leaned on, money was what they had, money was what had betrayed them. Could money save a life? So ignorant, everyone was so ignorant.

"Let us be grateful you are not supposed to explain to me my own mind," he replied. "If that was what you were supposed to be doing, then you have seriously failed. But if you deem it necessary to remove ourselves from curious eyes and ears, then I concur. Lead, and I will follow."

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Amelia Cross on November 18th, 2012, 5:15 pm

The little reaction Amelia earned from the man was disappointing. Even though the girl wasn’t usually too skilled in catching someone attention, she usually was good in keeping it. Yet this man, he seemed interested in everything but her. For a moment she even wanted to just flee from him and find someone a bit more easy to handle, not that Amelia wished to take the easy way out, it’s just that telling someone a fortune is easier is the person gives some signs of interest in what she would be saying. This man seemed to be worse than the biggest of skeptics. However, the small, response he seemed to give either by accident or true interest, was enough for Amelia to keep her interest on the man and desire to do what she loves doing.

”Kind Sir, my mind is nothing but a maze I have been lost inside of for 20 years” Amelia stated, regaining her passive manner of speech, as now she was more caught in the thought, of finding a place to calmly, with an easy mind tell the man his desires. Since nobody now wanted to really know their true future, they just wanted a little bit of their dreams spoken by someone else, and who better to explain these dreams than her trusted cards? After all, Tarot cards showed only 2 things, ones wishes or their nightmares. In the few occasions when one wished to really see his future, the cards would honestly show it.

Amelia let her eyes wonder around the perimeter, she hardly could catch a glimpse of a place that could fit her desires and needs. This part of the city was usually overcrowded, this day wasn’t much different. Everyone was busy with their own thing and probably wouldn’t notice the little fortune telling going on, but it still made Amelia feel uncomfortable. She tapped her index finger along her lower lip, trying to figure out a place where she could bring the man, but nothing in particular came to her mind. For a moment she considered renting a room in the ‘Tarsian’s boarding house’ but her realization of not even naming a price to the man, made her reconsider and come up with a better idea.

”Come” more of a demand than an offer, but somehow came off with a shy voice, probably because Amelia has been used to being told what to do and how to act. Each time she was in Ravok and didn’t have her father around, like usual, she would discover a new side to her that seemed more bizarre than the previous, sometimes she did consider herself a maze and each little encounter is a little guide to the right path.

The walk itself was short; it wouldn’t have toke more than 3 minutes for the two to get there, two. Fauna had trouble moving along and so it toke them a bit more than 7, maybe 10 minutes to get to the exact place of the canal Amelia wanted.”call this my office” she giggled, it was true that she did wish to have a fortune telling place once in her short life, but now it was a reason to laugh at herself and naïve dreams. After all, Amelia wanted nothing more than to see the world, too bad the world was so huge she had no clue of how to get around it. The black haired girl sat down on a bench, letting her back rest against the border between the pavement and the canal. ”shuffle” she smiled, offering the man her deck of cards.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Kelmar Hedos on November 19th, 2012, 4:38 am

Kelmar could tell from the woman's faltering smile that she was being discouraged, that she found him harder to sway than most. She probably thought of him as a skeptic, someone who didn't believe, but that wasn't the case. No, he was something worse, he was neutral. He didn't really care what she had to say, so far he had just listened to her to entertain her, because she had confronted him and he was listening. But that was a lie. Since that day in the plaza over ten years ago, he'd avoided fortune-tellers who claimed truth, partially because he didn't hold any avid interest but also because he feared what some had to say. Yet here, someone was offering him a glimpse at what might be his future, but he could not pry himself away. Curiosity was something he rarely felt, mostly a desire to know for the sake of power, which was close in effect, but now he was actually curious.

He noticed that the woman's eyes were scanning the surrounding area, though looking for what he did not know. Was it perhaps possible that she was looking for a handler, or some allies? Was she going to lead him into an ambush? When those thoughts crossed his mind, he too looked around the plaza, keeping an eye out for anyone who was paying particular attention to their little talk. He did not notice anyone though, the people in the plaza going about their usual business in a normal manner, which only led Kelmar to be confused as to what the woman was looking for.

When she bid him follow, Kelmar was of half a mind to abandon this pursuit and simply resume what he had come here to do, which was find some work. However, he was not aching for coin at the moment, and a curiosity he did not know he had was piqued by this traveler. Perhaps he could learn of something outside Ravok, maybe a way to gain even more power? There had to be more strength in the world than just that which was here in Ravok, perhaps this women could tell him of some. Kelmar followed the woman and her horse, constantly looking behind him just in case anyone was following. It was a force of habit, a habit he had no intention of letting go. The walkway was narrow, and the fortune-teller's insistence that she bring her horse only added to the time, which began to annoy Kelmar after a while. He respected that the horse would indeed be powerful and likely made things much easier out in the wild, but here it was simply cumbersome. Regardless, he followed patiently, looking back every now and again.

Once they'd reached the spot that the woman had decided on, Kelmar looked around, examining the area. It was nothing special or unique, just a bench beside the canal upon which ravosalas drifted calmly yet quickly towards their destinations. There was practically no one else around, which Kelmar found a touch suspicious but didn't dwell too much on. When handed the deck, he took it straight away and began efficiently shuffling the cards, not skipping a beat.

"How come you decided to approach me?" he asked, trying to probe this woman for information. Knowledge was indeed power, and no harm ever came from knowing more.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Amelia Cross on November 19th, 2012, 3:28 pm

Right before the man toke the cards she could spot the doubt in his black eyes that seemed quite like her own. Or perhaps it was distrust? Either way she couldn’t really blame the man for not trusting her. It’s not exactly often for a fortune teller to approach someone; they usually set up a tent of sorts and wait until someone approaches them not the other way around. But Amelia enjoyed doing things opposite to others and what is expected of her, so this reaction of the man only made her smile grow in a mischievous manner.

Her eyes were glued to the hands that shuffled the cards, the movement was clear and strong, not something she sees often, after all the Tarot Deck is bigger than an average deck of cards. Men usually end up dropping countless cars on the ground or do it shakily. This one had precise hand movements; Amelia couldn’t help but wonder what his occupation could be.

However she was awakened from the little world she had sunk in by accident, by the man’s voice. ”curiosity killed the cat” was her first answer, she didn’t necessarily agree to her statement/ After all she was quite curios of everyone and everything herself, she just always loved to say that, a habit her father had grown onto her. When she was still a small girl, he’d always say that when Amelia would dig through the scrolls of god knows what he had. ”but if you must know, I just found you to be more interesting than the average citizen spreading rumors, you were looking for someone or trying to hear something, your manner of walking made it clear that you weren't there for fresh air, so I assumed you'd be fun” the girl answered with a quite common , lazy tone as she didn’t bother looking at the man and just turned her head to face the canal. The city of Ravok was beautiful, she would want to learn all of its secrets starting ‘the black sun’, ending with ‘rising dawn’, but she never spent enough time in this city to have the chance. What a shame. ”I can tell a lot of things by how one walks and holds his hands…but that’s not the case now, is it?” Amelia laughed the question off, she didn’t really intend to bring it up, it happened by accident as she rarely thinks over what she is about to say to a completely perfect stranger. She outstretched her hand over to the man, waiting for him to give the deck back to her and let her do what she came here for.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Kelmar Hedos on November 20th, 2012, 3:18 am

In her eyes Kelmar thought he saw a hint of amusement. Well, more than a hint as it turned out when a mischievous smile graced her lips. He was still suspicious of this woman, who approached him out of the blue just as he happened to be looking for a job and led him to this isolated place, but she seemed to genuinely enjoy this from what he could tell. Paranoia is what others would call it, and perhaps they were right, but it was a useful trait to have regardless. Nobody was passing by, nobody was watching, even the ravosalamen didn't seem particularly interested in what was going on in this little corner of Ravok.

He handled the deck confidently and efficiently, shifting the cards from top to middle to bottom and back. This was not exactly a practiced routine for him, but he'd noticed the increased size of the cards and quickly got a feel for them. It wasn't masterful, but it was solid and he could do it easily. That's the way his mind worked, simplicity and analysis. As he looked to her for the answer to his question, he saw that she was watching him handle the cards with interest. Was it that engaging?

He listened to her explanation calmly, keeping the cards in his hands moving the entire time. She turned away, looking towards the canal, perhaps thinking of the city as a whole or something less tangible. Her first response was unsatisfactory, and one had no personal opinion on. Curiosity for curiosity's sake wasn't particularly useful, and what did her care about cats? He understood the meaning of the expression, just not the choice of words. Alliteration? Most likely. Listening to her explanation how she could deduce part of a man's existence by analyzing them, Kelmar shook his head. "Those are the skills that belong in the field of intelligence," he said. "What does a fortune teller need with skills like that?"

Finished, the agent looked down at the large deck of cards for a moment before returning them to their owner. "Curiosity is not bad," he told her. "It can be pointless at times, but knowledge is power and the only way you learn is by looking for the answers yourself. As for myself, it is my job to remain nondescript. People often share details about themselves that can give themselves away, so I try to limit the details I give to others best I can." His explanation was a bit more in-depth than token, but still this was not what he was here for.

Chance or Fortune?

Postby Amelia Cross on November 20th, 2012, 2:22 pm

Amelia outstretched her index finger to the man, moving it from right to left in a manner a mother would when scolding her child, a gesture she had seen from her own mother quite often ”tsk, tsk young man, you haven’t been too observing now, have you? Do I look like a mere fortune teller?” she asked, not exactly awaiting a response from him, the questions where offered in a manner of statement more than anything else ”and let me note that it is quite rude to assume that a fortune teller isn’t intelligent enough to hold skills like that” she added before accepting back her beloved deck of cards. It was clear to feel the small energy the man had left in them, it wasn’t pure as the ones she encountered most of the time, or maybe she was being judgmental because of the way this man handled himself. ”knowledge is power, I must agree””and I have all the knowledge of you I could get” she finished in her head, the idea of her skills being high enough to already know the man was obscure, but she believed in it and the girl was stubborn by nature.

”let’s see” she said while pulling out two cards from the bottom of the deck, these cards held no particular knowledge of the past, present or future, the ones that everyone left without notice, but they were some of the most knowledgeable. These cards showed a person as he was, small things that Amelia always knew how to wrap in her stories that she’d speak of, or at least help her get a better hold on the person she was reading to. The first card was the first card of the Royal Arcana, something she rarely saw in this position, the magician. A magician is a graceful and powerful man, holding power in his hand and having the whole time on the world to complete the knowledge he holds. This card usually was someone’s goal, not there state. The card that was next to it, only increased the Amelia’s puzzled, thoughtful look at her deck that seemed to trail up all the way to the man and back to the card of the swords, the Page of swords to be precise. All the swords held the same general meaning, knowledge and words. However the Page was the little unique guy of the set, it was a liar who spread rumors or was surrounded by them. Amelia couldn’t really link the two together. Until she recalled just how she found him, he was paying close attention to the world around him, not looking at anyone; he was listening, listening to rumors. Rumors where word, words are knowledge and knowledge is power. ”you hold power in your mind and are respected; it’s all about power for you, isn’t it? You weren’t looking for someone back there where I found you, you were listening, searching knowledge to use against others for your own sake…to gain something” Amelia finished as she placed the deck of cards next to her on the bench before looking back at the man, still holding the page of swords and the mage in her hand, waiting to see his posture change or his face give out a sign of emotion, so Amelia would know has she hit the bulls eye, hit close or went horribly wrong.

”I assume for you to thrust the cards and me, you’d like me to tell you something of your past and present, no?” Amelia let a smirk play on her lips as she pulled out two cards from the top of the deck, placing them on the bench, one next to the other, followed by another two that she laid out in a similar manner just a row higher, leaving quite the gap in between ”or would the Sir, prefer to hear of his future, or the paths that lay before him?” she asked, taking two more cards from the top of her tarot deck and placing them a row higher than the previous two, but she placed one on the left and one on the far right, leaving a huge gap between the two, there she finally placed the all mighty magician and the liar page, there they stranded for the man’s soul and who he was. Now she just awaited his answer..
