Wandering the Market?

Postby Sharyths on December 10th, 2012, 3:30 am

Time: 4th of Winter 512 AV - Dusk

This market is so big, and these people...so strange. Sharyths had been wandering the market for sometime now. Having had a previous encounter with two very strange, very different hue-mahns, Sharyths departed their company and slithered a way. He was still getting used to his new Dhani form, it was still hard to walk.

He had been pushed and pulled by the hue-mahns, that he had gotten lost and found himself no longer in the market. It was somewhere even higher up than he'd been, he could tell for the temperature had dropped even lower and he was getting slower by the minute. He had to find his way down, but how? He didn't know where he was.

But then, curious thing happened, he forgot about the cold and being lost. He thought of those two hue-mahns, the tiny cub, and the eyes staring at him, though he still wasn't sure from where. He thought of why he was here in the first place, his mission, his father and grandmother. He pulled out his grandmother's locket and remembered all of her stories, the funny ones, the sad ones, the stories of the hue-mahns and their trickery's.

"Sshahath vi tali Nschylti kobra tu Sharyths," he hissed to himself, unaware of another's presence.

Wandering the Market?

Postby Farlen on December 10th, 2012, 11:52 am

The tall blond man walked through the market as if he'd have never seen one. Amber feline eyes looked at everything as if it was completely new to him, the buildings, the people. Truth be told, he was well and truly lost. Lost like he never had been. But then again he had never been known for knowing his way around places. All this movement, these smells, these people whom he had never seen before. It confused his senses.

Very first day in Lhavit and the city did not yet repulse him, like so many others did. For example Alvadas. Well that was a hell of a city, with streets that shifted and led him to the wrong places. Then again he wasn't in Alvadas anymore. he wasn't in Wind Reach either, where he had felt lonesome and alienated. This was a completely new city with new people and the start of a new life.

Farlen's eyes tried to single out a single organism in this mass of heads, but to no avail. The cold seemed to slow down his mind. Instead he settled down on a bench somewhere to the side and took a deep breath, submerging himself in his fur lined cape. The winter frost didn't bother him as much as it seemed to other people, but the soft fur of his clothing felt soft against his cheek.

Wandering the Market?

Postby Sharyths on December 10th, 2012, 5:11 pm

Sharyths sniffed the air, this scent was like none he smelled before. His guard was up, this presence felt like an enemy, but not one he had known. He, slowly, searched for this new presence. Knowing not what he would find, but knowing he would find company.

That is, of course, all he ever wanted, someone to have a conversation with. Whether good, or bad, or something in between, he would finally have...a friend.

He had come to some open space, finally at a reasonable elevation, and found the source he had been tracking on a bench. He appeared to be sleeping, so Sharyths cautiously crept closer, keeping up his guard, towards the man.

"Sssir, you beeth Nnapping. Mighth I joineth thee?"

Wandering the Market?

Crowds still bothered her. They bothered her in the extreme, but sometimes she braved them to drop orders off that clients had insisted they needed hand delivered. Haeli hadn't gotten the hang of saying no to many people yet. And to her, it was worth making the extra coin to find someone someplace and drop off an order if it saved them time and energy in their otherwise busy lives.

Haeli wasn't frantically busy like everyone in Lhavit seemed to be. Instead she simply kept to herself and kept her hands and mind occupied like she'd been taught. The incense tucked into her basket was for a cloth merchant that wanted to draw his customers into his vending area with the pleasant smell of sandlewood because his nearest neighbor was a leatherworker and his vats of leather softening agents were pungently offensive. In fact, they were so pungent that the cloth merchant accused the leatherworker of often infusing his cloth with the putrid smell of such things as vats of urine (ripening in the open air to be used to bleach the leather) or harsher smelling lyes. Haeli had heard the whole story, and had mixed up the incense special so that the merchant could counter some of the neighbors reek.

There was only one problem. And one problem alone. She was lost.

She'd wandered the Azure market for nearly a bell looking for the right shop and the right merchant, but she hadn't been able to find either. The twists and turns of the buildings, alleys and hallways in The Azure Market had her completely and utterly confused. She couldn't even seem to find the way out, and had found herself wandering by the same merchants over and over again even though she'd picked different routes.

So when she came upon two gentleman sitting on a bench, she paused before them and quietly asked. "Excusse me. Do either of you know where a cloth merchant by the name of Ssssavil is? I have an order for him but I cannot ssseem to find him." She said softly, nervously. Haeli couldn't believe she was having this problem, but the market was overly crowded today and she was definitely lost.

Wandering the Market?

Postby Sharyths on December 10th, 2012, 11:08 pm

The man did not seem to respond to his motion. Was he dead? Or deaf? Or was luring the dhani into a trap? He would do such a thing, Sharyths knows he's done the same. And why should't he? For does he not know of the evils this Dhani had brought about innocent villages? Children taken from their mothers, husbands from their wives. Well, not today, Sharyths will atone for his sins another day. This man shall lose his life before Sharyths loses his.

He was just about to bare his fangs, and fill his belly, when he heard grandmothers call, "Excusse me. Do either of you know where a cloth merchant by the name of Ssssavil is? I have an order for him but I cannot ssseem to find him." He turned his head to the sweetest sound he hadn't heard since he was a snake-ling. But, this was not his grandmother, this was not even a dhani. How could she have taken his grandmother's voice? Was this a witch of some kind? Wait, Sharyths had heard of a Witch of Gyvaka, but he thought those just stories.

"Exscusse me miss, but whath arth thou? Thy sskin is of hue-mahn, but thy voice is of Dhani." Sharyth studied this creature and found himself caught in her eyes. It is as if the stars from the sky have fallen into her face. "Ssss."

Wandering the Market?

Postby Farlen on December 11th, 2012, 12:36 pm

Farlen looked up at the two persons before him. A woman and a Dhani who had a somewhat ominous look about him. Hell, to a newcomer such as himself, there was something ominous about the pair of them and suddenly Farlen was on the defensive, wishing to find himself as far away from the two as possible. A terrible thought tickled his senses, an instinct pushing him to stand and run. But he did no such thing.

Lustrous amber eyes looked up as the conversation between the two began. Though it quickly became apparent that she was merely looking for someone. Wishing not to appear rude, he spoke with unease and haste "Forgive me my lady, but I have only just arrived at the city. I know not where anything is."

The lynx must have had the most ridiculous of puzzled looks upon his human face. His lips slightly apart, eyes wide open. At a second glance, the woman didn’t seem so bad. Her manner was generally friendly and polite. But the Dhani next to her seemed like just a moment ago he was ready to cause serious harm to the Kelvic. His stomach turned a little at the thought. What a glorious first day eh…

Wandering the Market?

Postby Sharyths on December 11th, 2012, 2:23 pm

Sharyths had had a good day, for his first day. He had met three fascinating hue-mahns in the market and now two more marvelously interesting specimens. Where one stood charming and petite, the other struck him as scary and deranged. Though which one was which, he couldn't tell, they both had an unusual aura to him.

"Forgive me my lady, but I have only just arrived at the city. I know not where anything is." He had just arrived in the city? Another outsider like Sharyths, maybe he could be a good friend to this lonely dhani? We could work together, travel the world, tell stories of our many misadventures.

Is this fate, or coincidence, that our paths should collide like this? Will this lead to a friendship of great passion? Or a rivalry that could destroy the world as we know it? "Ssir what iss your name, if i be sso boldsth? The same gesssture to the hue-mahn who speaks my tongue?" As Sharyths hissed this bequest he felt a surge of some emotion he had not felt in a long time. Joy?

Haeli might have been a witch standing in a city, but she could feel an animals unease almost immediately. She pushed her hood off her head and very carefully and deliberately dropped her gaze and stretched her hand out and touched the man who was not a man along his jawline. He was not exactly an animal, being kelvic, but he was no human either. "You should not look so frightened. No one here will hurt you. My question was an honest one. I too get lost in this city. But if you will help, creature of the wilds, I will compensate you with a fine meal of your choice anywhere here in this city. I suspect your nose is far better than mine." She said to the kelvic while at the same time almost speaking to him, her body language all cat, all non-threatening. She even purred deep in her throat, comfortingly, wanting the other animal to not be so afraid.

Then she turned to Dhani, looked him over, and smiled. In fairly good snake-tongue even though her mouth should not be able to form the language, she spoke out. Her internal structure, almost instantaneously rearranged itself to make the sounds possible. Morphing, after all, was a handy skill. "I was raised by a Dhani Priestess. We spoke snake-tongue often. She taught best in it, not in Common, so I had to learn." Haeli said softly, then let her vocal chords relax and fall back into their normal shape. For the Kelvics benefit, she repeated what she had said in Common. "I told him my mentor was Dhani. Her common was not so good so I had to learn." She added.

Smiling, she tried very hard to include both men into her conversation. "The man I seek is not a tall man, though he has long fingers. He has blond hair and is perhaps your weight." She said indicating the Dhani. "He often smells strongly of cloves, since he using the plant shredded and smokes it rolled up in paper. It is an exotic scent but is not obnoxious. Do you think you can help? I will extend my offer of a meal to you as well." Haeli said, indiciating the Dhani.

"My name is Haeli." She added, almost as an afterthought.

Wandering the Market?

Postby Farlen on December 11th, 2012, 6:21 pm

An animalistic purr escaped Farlen as she stroked his face with her soft fingers. And how this touch pleased him. The smoke of fear evaporated from his form and left him relaxed, his eyes closed as he cherished the contact. No one had done that to him since Merric...

Something twisted within his gut at the thought of that name. A deep hatred which he tried to bury yet it resurfaced every time. A spite, an illness, a memory so terrible even he knew not how to deal with it. A cure with no cure and any other terrible word one could think up to describe this man. But words were alien to Farlen and there was only one word he could use in conjunction with the name... and that word was betrayal.

What the woman had done next came as a great surprise to him, but also tickled at his curiosity. For she spoke to the shake man as if she her self was a snake. The sounds which came from her were those of a snake. And many times he heard the language of snaked and many times it sounded a little funny to his feline ears.

Both of them had asked his name so burying the spite deep inside him, he answered ever so politely. "My name is Farlen the Lynx. And I believe it was my eyes that gave away my race." he then exchanged a quick glance with him as if to ask 'shall we help the lady? There is food at stake.' As for some reason he felt compelled to take this ominous creature into account when making his decision. "You know how to sway me." he said to her once again. "A good meal is precisely what I'm craving right now. And how about you sir?" he asked, turning to the snake man.

Wandering the Market?

Postby Sharyths on December 11th, 2012, 11:06 pm

He had not heard his own language be spoken to him in such a long time. It brought good memories to his mind that he thought were gone forever. It also brought up the bad ones that he did not want to share to these people at this time. But, nevertheless, it was good to hear another snake-tongue again, even if it was from a witch.

So, she was raised by a dhani-priestess, there was no point in lying. He knew what he had to do, and he did want to help this fair maiden, though by the look of her he knew that that was a rarity with her. "My name is Farlen the Lynx. And I believe it was my eyes that gave away my race." His name is Farlen, a lynx. Such a strong name, well, by the look of him he earned it. He's looking at me, like wants my help in helping the lady. "You know how to sway me." he said to her once again. "A good meal is precisely what I'm craving right now. And how about you sir?" All he is thinking about is his stomach, is that really it? Although, Sharyths was about to devour him, but that was purely in defense. Or was it? The Dhani had been walking quite a while, he deserved a meal, besides, this city has yet to offer him one.

"My sensses are yourss," he told the fake-dhani-girl, "cloves, you say? I can smell them from here, they've been bothering my sensses. I lead you to them," and, nodding back to the Lynx, slithered towards the foul odor. Maybe Farlen could stay with this lonely dhani in his home he recently acquired. Sure its small, but Sharyths needs not much room, Sharyths can make room...Yea, Sharyths can make room.
