“Go ahead and blow, pitiful wretch. I will be happy to dance as I cut this villain's heart out!" roared a demonic voice.
Sinoa Tried to catch a glimpse of the ghost to see what he was talking about. He saw that Kuvarakh hands were holding a dagger ready to impale himself with it.
“Kuvarakh NOO!” He cried
Sinoa's felt so helpless in his current state he had no idea how to stop the ghost and it was about to be too late.

Blissfully lost

Postby Kuvarakh on December 1st, 2012, 6:32 pm

The ghost paused a moment. The pycon had shouted something odd. The "NO" was obvious enough, but what was this "Kuvarakh" he'd said? Everything about the situation suggested it to be someone's name. The ghost knew it was not his own name. And he knew from his suddenly clarified memory that it was not the bastard he was possessing.

This monster struggling with him was one of the hated "Craven" family. His whole purpose in rejecting his passage to Lhex and his eventual rebirth was to destroy them, as their stooges had destroyed his family's claim to their old estate. Left to the criminal mercies of his half-brother, they had been driven into the street to perish as beggars, thieves and prostitutes. He had been impaled with spikes of soulmist to languish in despair. By the time the soulmist faded enough to win free, everyone had died, including his half brother. There was no one left to avenge himself upon...Except the Cravens. And now he had one!

So why did this "Kuvarakh" word bother him so? 'Why does it seem to strengthen this victim's ability to resist? What does it mean?' It struck him suddenly that there had been a third person, another man, a rather old and cadaverous looking fellow. 'Was it his name? What was it this man was about to do that the pycon should shout a warning?' He turned to face the other man, turning his back on Sinoa.

OOCSorry for the late response. >.<

Corpus did the only thing he could think of, he grabbed the pycon, not harshly and then quickly said, "Sorry about this... Just keep playing... Okay?" And without much response from the clay being the ancient nuit threw it as hard as he could towards Kuv and the ghost.

He could only hope that the pycon getting closer would cause the ghost to expel itself from his comrade. Poor little guy. I hope he survives this.

Corpus didn't wait though for any response instead he ducked behind the fountain, trying to keep out of sight of the ghost and the others. He didn't feel like being possessed.

Kuvarakh's friend gently grabbed Sinoa and told him to keep playing, Before Sinoa could respond he was flying through the air at alarming speed. He realized he was being thrown in Kuvarakh's direction Sinoa took the opportunity to shoot four of his small legs in Kuvarakh's direction hoping to startle the ghost into dropping the knife or maybe even scare the ghost out of his friend entirely. He landed with a hard thud against a tree next to the fountain. His face was smushed but quickly reformed. His flute had fallen out of his hands again from the impact but Sinoa was to dazed to notice. he was fading in and out of consciousness and could only see a faded glimpse of what was going on before him.

Kuvarakh saw Sinoa sailing towards him through the ghost's vision. Exhaustion was claiming them both now, but he knew the ghost would have enough time and energy to slash a horrific trench through his torso. It would be unlikely to kill him, but it would greatly weaken him and reduce the amount of effort he would be able to make in this body from then on. Also, it would accelerate the rate of the body's decay. Not to mention, it would hurt.

But it would hurt the ghost as well. Of course, once it abandoned the body, that would no longer be the case. So it was reasonable to conclude that once it made a gory mess out of Kuvarakh's body, it would go on its merry way. That did little to lift Kuvarakh's spirits. But it DID keep his buried mind focused on opportunities. And Sinoa's airborne approach was one such.

Having carried a different Pycon, named Saige, around town before, he knew how stout they were. As the ghost turned to respond to the wriggling clay missile, Kuvarakh could sense his intent to catch the flute. Kuvarakh let his slight hold on the muscles of his shoulders flow with the ghost's movement. At the last second he jerked the arm to deflect Sinoa right at his face. The ghost instinctively whipped the other arm in a wide parry, sending Sinoa into a nearby tree, but also knocking the knife free from his grip.

The ghost roared in anger and went to prop its weight up on the low stone rail around the fountain as a prelude to retrieving the knife. Again, Kuvarakh tweaked his arm, to let the support slip. The conflicted body flopped back into the water, its head pounding the stone as it went.

This was both good and bad. On the one hand, the ghost's head slammed against the stone, dazing him. On the other, Kuvarakh's head slammed against the stone, dazing him.

The sudden bang of Kuvarakh's head snapped back sinoa to the present.
"Kuvarakh!" he cried
"you have to fight it Kuvarakh! you can't let this ghost control you....Kuvarakh...fight..." sinoa said as he faded out of consciences again.

Thoughts of his daughter dominated Kuvarakh's mind. They always did when he was in the...classroom lab...at the University...in Zeltiva...the water...

Her death...at sea...the water...his obsession...so hard to focus...on studies...on the...water...the class...the professor...calling his name again..."Kuvarakh...Kuvarakh" Like he had years ago...IS IT years ago? 'yelling something about fighting control? Control of the alchemy ring?'

Then the professor yelling again, "Kuvarakh...fight"

'What is he yelling about?'

'No, stop yelling. I hear you, professor...professor? I'm right here!' his thoughts were so clear. There was something important, some part of him...trying to ignore the professor...trying to suppress...

Kuvarakh jumped up and his head spun, but he shouted "I'M RIGHT HERE, PROFESSOR!" There was disorientation, but it came back now. He saw the fountain, felt the water sloshing down his soaked clothes and skin. His head felt like he had been beating it against a stone wall.

He saw the stone wall around the fountain's pool and remembered...he HAD beaten it against a stone wall! he looked down and saw an ethereal presence still superimposed over his lower body. 'The ghost!'

He realized he had more control of his body. He started slapping his right arm with his left. The right arm was numb from mid bicep down. But as he slapped at it, the impacts brought awareness of his own body's sensations back as the numbness began to recede from the impact points. He started kicking his legs against the stone.

'Damn...I'm going to be sore in the morning...'

In Sinoa's unconscious state he was having a nightmare where kuvarakh was being slowly dragged into the open mouth of the now giant head of the ghost. Kuvarak kept yelling for help but no matter how fast Sinoa ran he could not catch up to his friend.
while Sinoa dreamed he called out Kuvarakh's name over and over again. His head began to shape shifted rapidly into odd looking abstract shapes something Pygons commonly do while dreaming.

Each time he heard his name, he felt more of his own senses return. It was not so much that hearing his own name made his battle stronger, as it made the ghost's possession weaker. He finally pulled completely free, falling over the wall onto the grass outside. He was too exhausted to move. The vaporous face of the spirit slowly inched above the wall and looked down at Kuvarakh. It too, displayed a look completely spent of strength or energy.

"Who are you...Kuvarakh...That IS your name, isn't it? You are not one of the Cravens. Why the charade?" It said, too tired to be angry.

"I'm s...sorry," Kuvarakh gasped for breath, his body flopped on the grass, unmoving. "So...very sorry. It was my mistake. There has been an onslaught of spirits lately. I have been able to scare them off by masquerading as a Craven family member. I had no idea that you had a legitimate grievance against them. The spirits here have just been malicious pranksters and haunters."
