While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

The night was beautiful; she had been always fascinated by shadows. Then again, she knew well that nights weren’t safe and thus, it made sense to camp. Even if she was still unsure of what would happen. She restrained from answering the comment about her no needing to kiss him. Even Amelia could feel he was amused by her reaction to it earlier.

”thank you..” gees, Amelia had really outdone herself. She usually didn’t thank people much or ask for forgiveness, now this man was close to getting more ‘thank you’ than most had managed in years of knowing her. ”I can manage to calm myself down, but I would like to find a stream…I don’t have anymore water and Fauna is thirsty to” she explained while letting her hand brush along the strong neck of the horse that was glued to her side. Fauna didn’t trust the man and wasn’t intending to leave Amelia without watch for even a second.

”shh” she whispered to the horse who was tensing up with every moment, she seemed to catch the mischief on Devlin’s face, Amelia was clearly too frightened to see it. ”let us go, or do you wish to rest some more?” scared, yet her voice was exceptionally calm and face didn’t seem to show much emotion at all. This situation was unusual and so, she just went with the flow of things, hopping to learn something on the way.

Just a rabbit…[ Devlin]

"You don't have to thank me. Just pay me when it's done, and I'll take that as thanks enough," Devlin said, leaning against one of the trees and chewing on one of his nails. "Stream?" Devlin said, looking about. He held his hand up to make sure the girl understood the need for silence. He could hear one in the distance, just a faint gurgle over the ambient sounds of the forest. He motioned for her to follow as she suggested they leave, and headed off into the woods.

Every few steps he marked a tree with an arrow, just so they'd be able to find their way back to the clearing. They walked on in silence, listening for the stream in the distance. He stopped occasionally, checking the moss on the trees. He stopped walking for a moment and squatted down, digging into the forest floor with his hand. When he pulled it up it was damp.

"We're close," he said, nocking an arrow to his bow as he made his way further into the woods. One could never be too sure around water. Everything needed a drink now and again, and he'd be right petched if he'd walk into a Gods be damned trap. He stopped behind a tree at the edge of another clearing and peered around it. Up ahead there was a stream. It came down the front of a rock face, cut across the grassy forest floor, and ended in a deep pool.

"Well. That's petchin' picturesque innit?"

Just a rabbit…[ Devlin]

A man biting on his nails? Disgusting! Amelia was bits away from shouting at him and teaching him how wrong that is. The only thing stopping her was the fact she was stranded with him being the only help she had, the short straw she had to hold onto. ”Y~” but she was cut off by his hand rise, she knew this motion from her father and mother. Ophelia would often do this when she was writing music and her father…well…pretty much every time he just wanted Amelia to keep quiet. This lifted hand, it was nothing, but it always seemed to hold almost magical control on her.

Silently, holding Fauna close to her side she began walking after Devlin. Looking at each tree he marked with his arrow. She could see the use of it, even guess why he touched the dirty moss. Some things were unclear, but she didn’t want question him as she was still controlled by the motion of ‘stay quiet’ that didn’t leave her mind. She was walking alongside him, like the obedient daughter would next to her father.

Once they had reached the pond, she was full of excitement and was about to run over to the water, she couldn’t really wait to have that blissful feeling of it running down her through. Still, the urge had to be suppressed. She didn’t understand why they didn’t come closer. ”it’s beautiful…can we….go?” her polite tone was visible, but it was hard to hide her impatience.

"Aye," he said slowly, eyes still scanning the forest around the clearing. It looked safe enough. Devlin stepped out from behind the tree and made his way toward the water. He bent down at the edge of the pool, snatched a rock from its spot in the topsoil, and dropped it into the water. He watched the ripples spread out carefully. If something was in the water, he'd do his best to disturb it. When the ripples had died down, Devlin stuck the tip of one of his fingers into the water. He left it there for a moment, all the while holding up his free hand to keep Amelia back.

When he was satisfied that the pool was free from any inhabitants, he straightened up and turned about. He smiled at Amelia, and set his bow down by the edge of the little pond.

"Fancy a swim? May as well camp here for the night, head back to the road in the morning. Then I'll have you on your way to wherever you'd like to go," Devlin said. He pulled his shirt off over his head and tossed it by his bow. Next came his breeches. He unlaced the front, and yanked them down, tossing them next to his shirt. Devlin was a lot of things. Bashful wasn't one of them. After his breeches came his underclothes, also tossed into the pile. He closed his eyes, and lifted his head toward the sun. Felt petchin' good on his naked skin.

Without a second look at Amelia, he threw himself into the pool of water. It wasn't cold. It was just the right temperature, warmed just enough by the summer sun to take the chill off, but still cold enough to be refreshing.

"Well?"

Like usual, the man toke the chance to check things. Just by the short amount of time she had spent with him she had realized how much he enjoyed making sure of everything twice. Amelia didn’t mind cautiousness, it was always better to be safe than sorry and the girl was quite easy to scare. She watched as Devlin walked to the pond he threw a pebble that probably made those ripples she couldn’t figure out. Growing up in cities that where by the sea, she had seen a lot of people do this but never had she really mastered that, none the less this was not a time to ask for a teaching in this.

It wasn’t much latter that Devlin put his bow down and made it clear that Amelia could come closer. She didn’t hesitate as the thirst was quite bothersome and she could tell it was bothering Fauna as well. However she didn’t manage to even completely come close to the pond, before Devlin offered a swim, the girl just rolled her eyes at the offer and completely ignoring the man.She removed the saddle bags and dropped them to the ground, soon after leading her to the edge of the pond ”come on girl” she said as the horse lowered it’s head to the water ”that’s right…” a faint smile before she began actually thinking over what the man had said about setting a camp here.

It was a moment’s question, before he spoke to her once more; finally she turned away from the horse and bothered to look at the man, her whole body turning to face him. Not surprised to see him already in the water. She would enjoy a swim, water always felt good on her skin, but sadly, she didn’t know how to swim. Yes, a woman who grew up by the water barley knew how to dogpaddle…more precisely, how to keep herself from drowning. ”I’d like to, I just…don’t know how to swim…” she confessed, taking of the bags from Fauna as soon as the horse had stepped away from the water. She dropped the bags not that far from the place Devlin had thrown his clothes. Still not paying attention to that she walked back to Fauna and released her from the saddles, by the way she laid down it was quite clear that she was glad to finally have those off of her.

Just a rabbit…[ Devlin]

"Neither can I love," Devlin said. The water wasn't terribly deep. He was standing flatfooted and the water only came midway up his chest. Braur had tried to show him how to swim, but he'd never really caught on. He rarely spent time in water, so he'd never bothered to learn. Maybe when he finally crossed the Suvan Sea he'd teach himself. Until then? Not petchin' likely. He sloshed his way over to the shore and leaned on his arms.

"Unless you're shy. Guess you don't have to get in with me. I'll close my eyes if you like," Devlin said, smiling mischievously. He covered his eyes with his hands, opened up a crack between his fingers, and chuckled to himself.

He dunked his head under the water and resurfaced, running a hand through his dripping hair, pushing it out of his eyes.

"Come on love. No reason to keep yourself swaddled up," Devlin said, laughing again.

Just a rabbit…[ Devlin]

Postby Amelia Cross on December 23rd, 2012, 4:26 pm

Once Amelia knew that her companion didn’t know how to swim as well, she felt at some ease knowing he wouldn’t exactly laugh at her quite sad attempts to dog peddle. Then again, if she would manage to start drowning, a man who doesn’t know how to swim wasn’t much of a help. The situation kept running along her mind, the good and the bad. He held no interest in hurting her; if he wished to kill her he’d have done it long ago. Take advantage of her? No, as frightening as he seemed to be at first, he didn’t seem to be the kind of man who’d do that.

After a few moments, she did however decide to join him, about to take off her boots when she heard Devlin assume Amelia was shy. Shy? Of all things, of course she could act timid if the situation called for it, but it was far from her true nature. So truth be told, she felt offended by such a guess, far enough to have a barley noticeable frown sneak up to her face. Fauna seemed to catch the shimmer of stubbornness in Amelia’s eyes and let out a disapproving ‘neigh’, but it never stopped Amelia from doing what she wanted.

Casually she began undoing her boots and carefully laying them down besides the messy pile of clothing Devlin had left after him. She didn’t pay attention to the fact he pretended to ‘not-peek’, there weren't any notable flaws in her body for her to be ashamed and the comments about it never seemed to bother the girl. Still silent, not answering Devlin she toke of her cloak that many considered to have grown onto her flesh as she rarely toke it off. She put it down next to her boots before turning her back to the pond as she begum taking off her dress, completely revealing the gift of Audius that played on her shoulder. Once she was standing in her undergarment, she came to realize that she would have to swim naked. The realization forcing her to freeze for a split moment, before she finally toke it off ”keep in mind, that staring is rude” Amelia said, her back still turned to the pond and Devlin, while she pulled her hair in front of her body.

Finally, Amelia tuned around and while her black hair was falling along her pale frame, she began walking to the pond. Trying to keep her side turned to Devlin while she let herself enter the pond, she might not be shy but she was far from being vulgar.
