Bloodfight // In which Sama'el spends a night in the rain and danger comes calling.

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

"Fuck!" The collision of his shoulder with the trunk hurt like a mother, and he dropped his dagger. Quickly crouching to pick it up with his other hand, he knew he wouldn't be able to mount a creditable defense, so he skulked by the tree, keeping his eye on the halfling. Carefully, he attempted to roll his arm around in its socket. It was numb, but still functioning. That was a good sign, he hoped.

"I could've told you that," he spat back. And, "Likewise."

But when the halfling made no move to attack or flee, Sama'el sheathed his dagger and, dagger-eyed, moved carefully around to throw some of the dry-ish wood he had gathered onto the fire and stoked it up for more light and more heat. Then he sat down with the fire between them.

"Bigarren," he called, and the horse moved over to his side, ears flat and teeth bared at the halfling. "I'm called Sama'el. Since you're apparently sharing my camp and my fire, do you think you can manage being civilized until morning?"

Bloodfight watched him, seething over the response, did the man think himself better than Bloodfight? The halflings eyes narrowed as he expected an attack but recieved none, his plan had been to wait for the man to come at him so he could lead him in the dark and away from the safety of the fire. Apparently fate had other plans in mind as his 'former victem' stoked the fire and sat down, watching Bloodfight just as Bloodfight watched him back, fiercely. Bloodfight simply stood far from the fire still, the shadows and the lights dancing around erratically for being fed more fuel. From the distance the halfling was still at, he would still be shrouded in rain and darkness, but after a moment of realization the fight was done and over with for now, Bloodfight moved closer, still on gaurd.

The idea had never occurred to him, when the man stated they were sharing the camp, never, ever, did the thought cross Bloodfights mind that sharing a campsite would have been even possible. But for Bloodfight to be sharing something with another? He, Bloodfight? SHARE? The concept was bizarre and oddly foreign to him, he never had to share, if he wanted something- he took it by force. Regarding the man, with a small gleam of curiousity passing by in his gold eyes, he hunkered down to sit in front of the fire as well- opposite of the man and surely not within a full arm span of Sama'el. It wasn't like Bloodfight enjoyed the thought of sitting, ungaurded so near to the man, so he kept his arms free, and his hands on his knees.

"Sharing?" Bloodfight questioned, soaked to the bone "What is this sharing?" The look the halfling might have given Sama'el could have been interperetted as borderline childish "I can be good if I wanna be....Mabey" Bloodfight added quickly, not wanting to seem too casual with a human.

After a few moments, Bloodfight slid the jacket off (and the body pack) and began to wring the oddly made jacket of the water, away from himself; as well as shaking his full body, sending flicks of water off his furry body and leaving him at least dryer before. Doing the same thing to his hair as he did the jacket, wringing the blood red and shaggy locks out. For the most part, it seemed Bloodfight wasn't paying attention, but he was shooting glances at the man every second he got, as well as towards the horse. Questions formulating in his mind on who the man was, what was he doing here? Was he a native, or not? Bloodfight certainly couldn't see any of the marking the Drykas would usually have on their body. Not like he cared, if it was not a native, the man was totally game for Bloodfight to kill without a seeming penalty.

Or at least, thats how Bloodfights mind was working.

"Sharing," he said, blinking at the halfling. "As in we both sit here and stay warm by the fire."

He watched the strange creature divest itself of wet clothing and its pack, shaking like an animal and then partaking of the fire's heat. Of course, he wanted to ask if he knew Dymphna, or the child she had born of a Zith rapist. Surely this couldn't be that child. He peered at him curiously, telling himself the red hair was not the right shade of red to be hers.

Well, he had attempted civility, but the beast wouldn't even share his name. Sama'el just settled in for a long night on his toes, and hoped at least Bigarren would get some rest. Then they could escape the boggy bits of the local terrain and get back to Endrykas where they both could rest in safety.

Scratching the tuft of fur on his chest lightly via knuckles, he stared hard and long at Sama'el, knowing if he tried something there was a fire inbetween them that would sully any quick reflex, and attempted attack. So he sat there, looking at the human, wondering about many things, especially about the humans name and how he could pronounce it, "Why share when can take, Sammers?" Bloodfight came up with the nickname, on the fly of course, but only because the name 'Sama'el' felt like it would be a little wish washy in his mouth, he would be better off with a nickname instead of the real name. It kind of reminded him of the words 'yammers' or 'summer's.

Leaning an elbow on his knee, with legs crossed, he took the other hand and made a thumbs up gesture and then pointed the thumb at his chest "Bloodfight" It was simple, of course, but he liked it "I like blood, and fights, so I'm Bloodfight." A snerky smirk of a smile, an energy entering his body as he explained and then pulled a bit of his hair and wiggled it around "it's red like blood too." As if that tiny explanation was suppose to mean anything great to his..aqauintance.

Then he made a sweeping gesture around him, though bored on the outside, he held a resolute twinkle of curiousity in his eyes "why here?"

"Because it's my damn fire and you couldn't take it from me," he snapped, then scowled into the fire a moment, holding his hands out to it, wishing it would swallow all the humidity that the unceasing rains brought. Sammers? he thought, but didn't comment on it. Perhaps the Zith vocal apparatus didn't lend itself to proper human speech.

"Your name is Bloodfight?" He didn't laugh. He didn't. He nodded gruffly instead to prevent laughter. "Well, Bloodfight, I'm here because the ground is higher and there are the trees, so the ground isn't as sodden and the rain is off my head. And I control the Fire..."

That said, he twisted his finger in a lazy circle toward the fire, a thin snake of smoldering red energy spiraling down toward it. The flames leaned toward his power and then lit it on fire like a wick. A twist of his hand gathered a whorl of the energy and as the wick disappeared in fire, the globe of energy became fire too, floating in the air before him.

"So no funny business."

Hah! your fire? Bloodfight thought to himself, just wait till you're sleeping...

An incredulous expression had formed on the halflings face, crossing his arms and slouching to hold in more of his own body heat, plus the fires in front of him. The response which Sammers had performed was to be expected, Bloodfight had attacked him, and Bloodfight was.. a Zith.. without wings; and so he didn't let it faze him much. It wasn't as if the human had won the fire when challenged for it, or the coverage, because of one measly fight between the two of them which may, or may not have lasted a bit. To Bloodfight, the scrabble between them seemed to be on mutual terms, or rather a time-out, and when that time was started again...

Bloodfight relished over the thoughts, taking a closer look at Sammers- the man was thin, but not in a starved way like he had seen in Sunberth so many times before. From what Bloodfight could tell, through the fires bright light, a minor annoyance to his eyes being so close to it, was that Sammers was possibly someone that could survive, and if he was out alone at night in the grass without a group, he must be a surviver as well. That alone, was just speculation, Bloodfight doubted the human was- with how the fight had went previously. Which led to the question: would Sammers then, taste better raw, or cooked? Bloodfight was not against cannibalism, but as he became annoyed at his own thoughts, which had made his stomach growl, angry at him for focusing on possible food which seemed to be impossible to aquire at the moment.

The halfling raised his eyebrows at the humans gestures, the strange liquid formulating as Sammers spoke. Bloodfight couldn't describe it properly, it looked like gel to him, maybe even a strange red liquid. One not the color of blood, no wheres close to that color, but was a red glow, much like a fireplaces embers just sitting there without any actual flame coming out. An unsettling thought entered his mind, as he remembered Sunberth, the whispers of 'mages' who had abilities that were not meant for the likes of mortals. Not like Bloodfight had ever seen anything like that in the world while he was in Sunberth, besides bodies hanging by ropes with a mob chanting 'mage', they didn't seem to be limited to just humans, but just seeing the odd liquid put Bloodfights fur hairs on end with suspicion.

Then poof! The strange liquid lit, like a spark to oil and was now a firey ball of flames, it had surprised the halfling so much he scrambled away from the fire, just now on the edges of its light "WHAT YOU DO?!" Bloodfight yelled, holding his arm up to shield his face in case it came at him "What is that?!" He quietened a little, a sharp whisper in his voice. Leaning in like an animal trying to make sense of what had just happened. The initial fear of what Sammers had done was still there, but he wasn't going to let fire drive him away like it did wild animals "..fire? Water?...Fire water?" Bloodfight questioned, not actually knowing the correct word, maybe it was oil actually and a nasty trick was being played on him to scare him away.

OOC :
;) Blood doesn't actually know what "mage" means, but he's gotten vague ideas via taverns, mobs, and other such experiences when he was in Sunberth years ago.

I also didn't see anything mentioning upper body-wear in your CS.. >.> *coughs*

The Fire broke into pieces: witchlights, will 'o the wisps. They hovered around Bloodfight like a swarm of malevolent bees that lived on fire. He could not help but smirk at Bloodfight's reaction. With a Zith, even a seeming halfling with no wings to speak of, it was imperative he establish his own power. Zith didn't respect anything but power.

"I have mastered Fire, Bloodfight," he warned. "Remember that when your Zith heart counsels betrayal."

Those witchlights went from threatening the Zith-man to swarming around Sama'el like so many adoring moths. They were aflame, and yet attracted to him. Let Bloodfight think him overly powerful, and perhaps he could sleep the night without fearing his throat would be opened.

Bloodfight watched the fire, it burst into multiple balls of fire- each one floating around him and lighting the area, and making the gold in his eyes flicker. For all that he tried to watch, he felt scared yet amazed at the same time. One wisp of fire that floated near his face, he leaned back from but out of curiousity he tried to grab it, squish it in his palm, only to recieve a shocking burn that made him cringe. He shook his hand repeatedly and then slammed it palm first on the ground to choke out the air and life, wiping it on there, making it worse, with dirt grating into the burn. He did not utter any crys of pain, he only hissed at his own stupidity for thinking fire could be touched without retribution.

Snapping his gaze towards the fire controlling human, glaring, he gave Sammers a warning growl; he did not like what he was seeing.

The wisps which had magically been flying around him, the humans words, he felt nothing but utter contempt. How did fire, such a dangerous thing not harm the man? The wisps of fire flew so dangerously close to Sammers, that Bloodfight thought he might have felt the burning sensation which fire brought when touched. The man didn't flinch once, seemingly. It wasn't possible, not for fire to be controlled- it had no master- it was it's own energy that was not to be trifled with; and here, now was this human, he was bending it's purpose- he was not normal. What he was doing, was wrong, it screamed against the very nature of things- in particular- fire.

Nor did Bloodfight completely understand what the fire controlling human was saying, he heard the word Zith, and tensed. Snarled at him.

"I am Zith, so what?" He spat, hand balling into a fist with dirt held in it, watching the fire around the man very carefully even if his eyes were beginning to get tired of the brightness it presented "what you? Mage creature? No better than me, or Zith." Bloodfight was very sure now that this- this was a Mage that took the guise of a human, control of fire was not possible for normal mortals, it was not something that flew in the air on its own, seeming, accord. This was not a human, it was a mage, one of possibly many whispered of in Sunberth.

Sama'el didn't really care if he had offended the tricksy beast of a man. He seemed more Zith than human, and certainly he had already tried to kill Sama'el. Why should he trust him? But he concentrated and the flames again congregated in the firepit. If he had wanted to burn Bloodfight, he would have urged the flames against him, but he had reached out and touched fire as if it were not fire. That was not Sama'el's fault.

"I'm a Drykas man," he said, and that was all. He had made no comment of superiority, merely warned against betrayal, and he had never met a Zith he could trust, so Bloodfight was lucky he didn't sic the Fire upon him. Now that they were not locked in combat, Sama'el had the tactical advantage.

But this Zith-man reminded him of Dymphna's story, and so after a moment of silence, he offered a small bit of compassion. "You ought to step and and put mud on that. It'll help."

"Not Drykas," Bloodfight responded "mage creature is Sammers" he corrected the mage, looking so serious at him, as if he believed that "look like human, but not human. Feared. Like Zith- so you... aarrre.. like Zith." He gave the 'are' a more of an 'air' sound than actually an 'ar' sound, as if trying to pronounce it correctly in his voice, eyebrows both raised as he looked between the man and his own, now dirt encrusted, burning hand; grumping over it. How silly he was, he was simply uneducated about these types of things.

"Mage creatures look like other... creatures..." he didn't exactly know what to call the other races, he mumbled this last bit as he looked around. There was tons of water falling from the sky that he could wash the dirt off with, but if he did that... What if the mage creature would have had something planned for him when he got back? He glared, at Sammers, then sneered at the suggestion "why murd? What is murd?" He questioned, with a slight r pronounciation to the 'uhs' that would be in 'mud'.

Was he prooving to be frustrating? Perhaps being annoying (unintentionally at first, of course) would drive the mage creature away.

Actually, why had the opposite not occurred? Bloodfight slid himself closer to the fire, squinting more so when he was near it. Glad that the mage creature had finally stopped its nonsense, he stared intently at the human. Then wondered as well why he had called himself Drykas when he was a mage creature that looked human "why say Drykas, when mage creature?" He questioned, completely out of the blue.
