Bloodfight // In which Sama'el spends a night in the rain and danger comes calling.

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

"I am Drykas," he said, annoyed, but mostly because the halfling had woken him from his sleep and now he couldn't safely return. He sighed at the creature's willful obstinacy and pushed himself off the ground. Of course, he made no threatening moves, didn't even lean in Bloodfight's direction. He eyed Bigarren, who was across the fire from the halfling, too, and was trained to defend himself, anyway. "Just a moment."

He wasn't much of a healer, but he knew a thing or two that he remembered from his Nana or had learned through dumb luck when it had just been him and Horse those two years. But he disappeared in the dark, Bloodfight's blinded eyes likely not having a chance to readjust. Sama'el was only gone for a moment, though, and he returned with his hands cupped together and full of cold, wet mud.

"I'm coming over next to you. To help. If you attack me, I'll burn off all your skin and eat you for breakfast." It was more ill humor than an actual thread. Well, he might set Bloodfight on Fire if he attacked again, and call it retribution for Eldon's father, for Dymphna's innocence, for all the Drykas who had suffered at Zith hands.

He knelt down next to Bloodfight, held out the mud.

"It's cold and wet. Put your hand in there. It'll draw out the heat."

Bloodfight shook his head, finally closing his eyes out of necessity- the fire, if not, was annoying and becoming a tad painful to his eyes. How could this mage creature be drykas as well? Drykas looked like humans, but humans looked like mage creatures, so did they also take the form of someone that was Drykas? What exactly was a Drykas? He just knew they were the natives... People he did not want to cross if they were ever nearby and in large numbers. But this mage creature, he was saying he was Drykas... If, lets say, a mage creature could be two things at once- then that would make this mage creature a Drykas as well... Ah, what? What?

Bloodfights mind began to sting, trying to make sense of what was being said between what he was thinking.

Opening his eyes a smidge, he squinted where the mage creature had been, and then heard the footsteps coming nearer. Making him tense his body long before Sammers could speak, was the mage creature planning trickery? For all Blood knew, this 'Drykas' would perform more crazy mage creature abilities on him; opening his eyes wider to look to his side, being warned by the mage creature, and then being... helped? Bloodfight looked down at the 'murd' in Sammers hands, it looked like waterfyed dirt in color, but it would help? This mage creature was helping after he had attacked him? The thought was stupendously surprising to him.

"Mage creatures eat Zith?" There was no ill-intent in his voice, or at least, none that he could discernify from; just a little dark humor "no tricks?" He asked, giving the mage creature a sharpish glare, as if he were trying to stare straight into the mage creatures plots and plans. He reached out for the 'murd' and was quite well aware of how sharp and long his claws were, and was at least trying to be careful with them when he reached into Sammers hands for the 'murd'. Promptly taking it away when there was a sufficient amount, he began to squish it around his hand, feeling the odd texture- it was like waterfyed dirt, liquidy like water but the color of dirt.

"This is murd? Water dirt?" He rhetorically questioned, feeling rather stupid now "keh."

Sama'el rolled his eyes at the very thought.

"Eat Zith? Hells, no. You probably taste like shit anyway." He just held the mud out, shaking his head about tricks, until the halfling took it out of his hands, and then he began to wipe his hands nearer the fire to let the heat dry it out, the better to get it off his hands.

"Water and dirt make mud," he agreed, thinking this was a simple enough concept for a cave-dwelling monster. Well, a cave-dwelling monster who clearly had human parentage too.

"You're not just Zith, are you? You're Zith and Drykas. Who was your mother?" It was a bold question, perhaps rude, but Zith had no manners, no culture to speak of beyond a pack mentality from what he understood.

"Does the mud help?"

Bloodfight shrugged at the comment of himself probably tasting like crap, he hadn't tried himself, and he wasn't about to either. What confused him was that Sammers wouldn't actually eat him, so it was a joke, something he had a hard time understanding the concept of "I bet Sammers taste good" the halfling shot back to the Drykas mage creature... No. He was named Sammers, not mage creature. Being painfully, bluntly honest with his poorly thought out come back; turning his eyes back to the fire, it was painful, annoying, yes, but it was interesting as well- had Sammers made the fire with his mage creature powers as well?

"Keh," he reitterarted, his mouth only opening a smidge to allow the high frequency pitch out lightly, Sammers had in a matter of moments in the conversation gone from eating Zith, to mud, and now to Bloodfights parentage "what does matter to Sammers" he seemed to hiss out, anger bubbling in his words, "who mother was?" The question had been enough to make the halfling grit his teeth, he wanted to attack Sammers for asking those things, he didn't want to think of his parents. His mother, the Zith whom had given him the choice to defend his father...and die. Or to allow the human to be ripped into shreds, and then take his own fathers flesh into himself.

The choice had been plainly obvious; as Bloodfight was still there, and talking to Sammers presently.

Shaking his head, he looked away from the fire and into the darkness- he could see splotches of color, as if one had been staring into the sun for too long. He looked at his hand upon Sammers question on the mud, or murd, "yes, murd helps" Bloodfight grunted out. Blinking his eyes to rid himself of the strange color that came with being near bright things for too long, he shook his head again, the distraction had prooved to be oddly calming to him. As if the abrubt change of subject had made the conversation better, "be right back, have food" the halfling stated to Sammers as he stood up, leaving his jacket and body pack behind to dissapear into the darkness.

He would go around the camp, and not directly through it; wary of how Sammers or that horse would react.

Bloodfight wanted the conversation to stay away from that subject of parentage, he knew just the thing, perhaps Sammers was getting cranky because he was hungry? He had spoken of food, indirectly, so the halfling could only assume that Sammers was giving off hints. So into the rain, Bloodfight sniffed through the boggy air for the smell of his shrooms in the pouch, hidden next to the backpack he had abandoned not too far from where Sammers camp was. The halfling sifted around bushes, slowly soaking to the bone once more but he finally found it. The bag was still a little wet, but it seemed to have dried off some under the thick bushes, and with it the mushroom pouch he stored his mulch in.

The halfling would return with a filled bag, and a stocky looking pouch, having of followed his way towards the light of the fire again. Grumpily, he took his place again, tensing as he passed Sammers and set his bag down to where he would be sitting. Taking a moment to shake himself dry of the rain water before sitting down, frowning at his pouch and taking some mushrooms out, just hopefully they hadn't been squished too much from the flight they had taken earlier; holding the shrooms to Sammers "food."

He squinted at Bloodfight. Was he saying he did want to eat Sama'el, or was that a joke? He couldn't tell, so he let it go. At the halfling's response to his question of parentage, though, he blinked. It still did not occur to him that his mother might be Zith. He knew plenty of stories of male Zith raping any Drykas woman they could catch and prevent from killing herself, but he would have thought no female Zith would want to let human seed into her womb. Didn't they hate Drykas? A male Zith raping a woman was a destructive act, but a female Zith bearing a man's child was a creative act, though even that could be perverted.

But the mud was working, and Sama'el could only keep a wary eye on the halfling's form fading into the dark after food, and then he was back with his muddy mushrooms. It was bad form to turn down hospitality, even from a halfling Zith. He reached out for one dubiously.

"You first."

Relief washed over the halfling as Sammers didn't press on the parentage issue, he actually seemed rather thoughtful.

Snorting at his reaction to his schrooms though, he plucked one off and popped it into his mouth and began to chew. Bloodfight didn't see what the problem was with his mushrooms, even if they looked a lil smooshed, they still tasted the same as always. Creamishly, sweetly, with a hint of dirt mixed in; for when his snares had went empty, he always relied on his portable mushrooms for nourishment. He plucked another one off, and continued to hold the mulch sqaure covered with shrooms out to Sammers, as if to say they were fine, they were edible "good" he added on.

They weren't as great as meat though, but the shrooms would have to do for tonight. Sammers had made his hand stop burning, and in turn Bloodfight was sharing food with him. It seemed like a fair trade to the halfling, as he knew what barter was; opposed to just giving freely as this sharing idea seemed to point out. Setting the mulch down, Bloodfight began to unpack his bag- just to find his winter blanket (which looked a little ragged, compared to what a well taken care of one would have looked like) and began to wrap it around himself, why, he must have looked silly.

He was only using it for the main purpose of warding off the chill the rain had done, but was dissapointed, and annoyed when he just noticed the blanket was a little damp. So he set it next to the fire, carefully, making sure it didn't touch the flame. Bloodfight was trying to ignore Sammers, his already poor mood had hit the bottom of the metaphorical ocean, he didn't actually think the human would give up on asking, so perhaps he could just make a little clarification... He opened his mouth to say something, but found he could not formulate the words.

After Bloodfight had chewed and swallowed a couple of mushrooms, Sama'el began to eat the one he had. Deeming it safe now, for certainly it looked like ones that were for sale among the tents, he ate a few more.

"Thanks," he said, when the halfling assured him they were good.

Then he watched as Bloodfight grumped about his blanket, but he didn't say anything. He clearly figured out what else the fire was good for. Sama'el took a few more mushrooms and went back to his spot, giving Bloodfight space to go about his business without someone lurking there. He chewed on his snack thoughtfully, watching the fire or watching the halfling. This was certainly turning out to be an interesting night.

When he started doing his impression of a large-mouthed bass, though, Sama'el blinked and peered at him.

"Something the matter?"

Something the matter? Bloodfight shut his mouth, and began to scritch scratch his head with his knuckles. What did that mean? Oh these silly humans, and their silly words, the halfling had to take a moment to decipher what Sammers had said... 'Something the matter' now what did that mean? Obviously he was meaning something, and it had been a question to Bloodfight, so he was asking something of him. 'The matter' ? Bloodfight scrunched his face up in thought, he didn't know what matter meant exactly.. But usually it meant a situation, or something happening, so was Sammers asking if something was happening with Bloodfight? Eh?

He grumped a bit, picking apart what humans and other beings spoke was such a chore sometimes "no," he breathed out, "nothing."

Of course nothing was wrong, he thought to himself, straightening up again and watching his blanket dry by the fire. He felt it, where it was nearest to the flame and knew it was dry there, so he re-arranged the other side to begin drying as well. Then he moved his bag around, away from him so he could turn and lay on the ground with his arms crossed behind his head and his leg slightly crossed, looking up to the sky which was blocked by the copse of trees. There was nothing more to say, or at least Bloodfight thought, he had 'shared' with Sammers, and it seemed any previous animosity was gone. If Sammers were to sleep now, would Bloodfight still attack him- once he was sure the human would be out cold?

He had to think on that for a bit, Bloodfight didn't know Sammers, and Sammers didn't know him. But in a way they had both helped eachother, after a bout of violence, it was hard to believe there would be anything but hatred and anger. Then it had occurred to him, what had stopped Sammers from burning the halfling to smithereens? Why had he asked such questions, so forcefully? Was it because he was only a half breed, an impure bloodline of repeated incest, to be broken by the mere chance of human blood being mixed in. Making him the half blood he was, Human and Zith, did Sammers see a bit of human qaulity in Bloodfight?

"Sammers is odd," he said, without looking to the drykas man "like big bear in smelly human city, odd" he yawned and shut his eyes, wiggled his foot around that was suspended in the air by having his legs crossed "after fight, helped me, you do same now like big bear." Bloodfight was still very much awake, his mind was buzzing with thoughts, and questions, his curious nature going above and beyond "humans very odd, hate me most time, Bloodfight done no harm to them, other time some don't hate," he peeked an eye open to glance at Sammers, squinting, as he was across the fire "does Sammers hate me after fight?..even..if..helped.. me?"

His last few words were punctuated, but forced, he was trying to talk better and it was hard. No, Bloodfight didn't, he wouldn't attack during the night, the situation between the two was a harshly mirrored one years ago that he learned from- even if it was a little. No matter what Sammers would say, he would stick to what he had decided.

Sammers wasn't going to press the issue, so he just glanced at Bigarren to make sure the big stallion was all right, and then leaned back against the tree that would keep him mostly upright for the rest of the evening. Despite their progress, he wouldn't fall asleep with Bloodfight there. He wasn't sure Bigarren would either, not with the smell of predator so fresh and near. He sighed and stretched his legs out toward the fire, tucked his hands behind his head and watched.

Sammers was odd? he thought, also thinking Bloodfight was the pot calling the kettle black, but he definitely wouldn't understand that. But he thought about Bloodfight's question for a minute. The Zith had done terrible things to people he loved, but clearly some Zith had done the same to Bloodfight's other parent. He didn't know the intricacies of that little bit of rape, but he could only assume it was rape of some kind. He couldn't bring himself to hate someone for being the product of rape, even if that gave them bestial features and ...

"No, I don't hate you."

With a grunt to his reaction and response, Bloodfight turned over on his side to avoid the fires sickening glare inching into his sanity. Crossing his arms and shutting his eyes as he let the cool blackness greet his buzzing mind, the showers over head mixed with the thunder and lightening were mere background sound. He seemed to act more so like a child than anything else, still very much a youth despite his biological age and appearence. For having of turned over he exposed his backside to the mage creature, but he expected no attack on Sammers part, he had won this time. If barely by the sentience Bloodfight clung to meagerly with his own curiousity, he wouldn't be stumped the next time, and he would proove that even halflings were better than humans.. and perhaps the mage creatures as well. What with their strengths and all.

Too much thinking, he had enough of it for tonight, there was a sharp pound resonating slowly but fiercely within his skull that grew over time; thunder cracks and lightening flashes in tune with it, a small torture which faded with his conscience mind into that of sleep. Snoring loudly, with his mouth open and tounge lolling out past the sharpness of his teeth, drool travelled down the side of his mouth as he would turn to be laying on his back. Once or twice, randomly scratching the tuft of fur on his chest, he was out cold soon enough and deeply enough so that the storm raging on didn't bother him as much.

oocI believe we can wrap it up, I apologize for the long delay in replying; I have no viable excuse, and will make none, besides explain I was on a plot rampage with another character I so love and hold dearly to myself. :P Bloodfight was kinda washed out, and I now hope to bring him back to at least active levels. >.>;; So here is a post.
