4th of Winter, 512 AV

Amnesia.Headache.Nausea.

Lopeus woke up in front of an abandoned shack with very little memory of previous events :The weird people that surrounded him, the body, the ritual...The ritual?!

He was feeling really weird, with strange sensations flowing through his body. He felt unexplainable emotions, such he has never even dreamt off. He was well aware of the looks he was getting from the people around him, but this was Sunberth. As long as you're not wearing your wizard hat all over town, you can even survive a day or two. It wasn't their looks that bothered him, it was the way he was looking at them that did. Lopeus felt...superior. It was clear something was not right, and he wasn't about to keep sitting in the middle of the street, someone might mistake him for easy prey.

He quickly got up and decided to take a stroll.

Thundiirn walked through the streets, as he had the past few days, in search of familiar faces from his past, still to no avail. Granted, there had never been many that he called friends, and most weren't the type you'd run into at he market, but still all he had found so far were a few beggars he had befriended. They didn't recognize him, and he threw them a copper or two, depending on how much he had liked them when they had known him.

As he crossed out of an alleyway and into one of the more major streets, he saw what made his blood stop. He'd only met a few within his lifetime, but he was almost certain of what he saw. It was a Nuit. He had researched them briefly in Zeltiva, and while it was uncommon for a living person to convert themselves into a Nuit, it was not impossible. Perhaps this was the solution to his dilemma. He could spend eternity growing and developing himself, dead inside but always improving. It was a thought he'd have to consider later. For now he wanted to keep an eye on the being and make sure he was correct. Slipping into the shadows, he began to follow the creature as it moved through the streets. It seemed... off... slightly. As if it wasn't comfortable in its own body. Maybe that's just how they always were.

A (Very) Rough Morning.

Postby Lopeus on December 28th, 2012, 10:31 am

Lopeus felt a strange sensation every time he passed near a human. He felt as if he could see through them, see their soul. In a town like this, that isn't a pretty sight.

Something was not quite right, though. He felt as if he had little control over his own emotions whatsoever. He was not sure at this point if people can realize he no longer is one of them, but yet he has turned into a creature far beyond his understanding.

He took a strong right turn, away from the main street and entered. He felt down to his knees as his brain began storming him with flashes and images from his past..

A pale girl laughing. White ichor. Crushing pain.

He exhaled deeply and got back on his feet. He noticed a mirror on a nearby wall, and decided to look at it for a while. This body of his, a strong and muscled body. Yet there was something about it so..dead.
He was certain that it was his fault, although he didn't really understand how it all works.

You're a Nuit, aren't ya?

The creature had turned off the main street and now stood looking in a mirror. Odd, but to each his own. Fearing hostility, but fearing more of losing this opportunity, he had followed it there and now spoke.

You seem new here. No one walks into an empty alleyway without some way of defending themselves here, and I see no weapon on you. I've heard yer kind are rather frail, physically speaking. For a gold miza or two, I'll show ya around and advise you how not to get picked off on the street. Your type especially need such lessons if you're new here, and you won't find a cheaper guide round these parts.

Thundiirn wasn't lying. This guy had already made several street blunders in the short time he had been following him. While he wasn't above making a quick miza off a hapless traveler, he also didn't want to see this one dying anytime soon. He might turn out useful to Thundiirn, in the long run. And why let use go to waste?

Lopeus turned to the newcomer. He was not surprised, because for some strange reason the sensation of a surprise was completely unknown to him. This guy must've followed him here, and he knew wiser than to get into a fight, especially in Sunberth. In addition, Lopeus' condition wouldn't really help the outcome.

A guide, eh? There are some requirements before I'm able to accept such a thing. A name, for starters.

This guy seemed to know a thing or two about Lop and what he's become, and what's even more important, about Sunberth. He could really use his guidance, he cannot go around with a complete stranger though. Not with the situation he's in at the moment.

A name? Oh why of course, what a reasonable request!
He could sense he had the Nuit's attention, and gave the being the most charming smile he could muster.
My name would be Lithan. I was actually on my way to the market when I had the wonderful fortune to run into you! Why don't we walk and talk? At this, he gave a quick glance around where they were standing, hopefully not too overexaggerated. He really wanted it to follow him.
This really isn't the safest place to chat. A mostly-lie, they were within sight of one of the main streets and it was bright daylight out. Still, no reason to push luck.
Walk with me, I'm gonna go buy some more wintery clothes. We will be in well-populated areas, there will be no chance for either of us to take advantage of each other. If your not satisfied, don't pay. If you are, I'll give ya a bed and show you around a bit more tomorrow.
He threw in another smile for good measure. Please oh please come he thought to himself.

Lopeus could clearly see behind the stranger's charade, but his was the only offer on the table, and he wasn't really in the position to reject it. He needed any help he can get, and this particular fellow didn't seem to be too evil.

I can certainly allow myself to accept such an offer. The name's Lopeus, at least i think it is.

Lop wasn't certain about anything at this point. It actually made him giggle a little bit, only on the inside though. Being caught kneeling and staring at a mirror is weird enough, no need to push it any further.

You will have to forgive me, though, for I am feeling really dizzy and might slow you down a bit. However, I'm anxious to see what this town has to offer..

Plus, a bed for the night doesn't sound so bad

Lead the way, Lithan!

Caught, trapped, he'd secured his prey. And so, beckoning eagerly, he led the creature out of the little alleyway and back into Sunberth at large. The thing wasn't kidding about being disoriented. He hadn't been able to see quite well just how bad it was when trailing him, but now that they walked more or less side by side, jostling through the crowd, Thundiirn could see just how slowed down the thing was. Twice already he'd seen people anxiously check their purses, suspected that his bumbling into them was a farce to pick their pockets, and they'd only been going a few chimes.

"You really need to stop that bumbling into people," Thundiirn called over his shoulder. Lopeus had fallen behind again. "They think you're pick pocketing them. Sooner or later ones gonna attack first, ask questions later.
The Nuit's eyes widened with slight fear, but he said nothing and moved onward, trying his best to match Thundiirn's pace while also now concentrating on not giving the appearance of an amateur pickpocket.

Thundiirn thought about what he had to get at the market. The list wasn't long, merely a warmer cloak for the winter and some sort of weapon. He hadn't tended to carry one as a boy, but after all the weird, completely unexpected, and downright dangerous situations he had been in since getting back in those short few days, he feared his Sunberth street luck might be down from leaving it so long. Suddenly curious, he turned back to the Nuit to ask if they get cold. Perhaps he'd need some warm clothes, too.
Unfortunately, he wasn't there.
Shyke! Thundiirn thought to himself. Where had the bugger gotten to? He was not about to let this opportunity slip through his fingers, he'd comb the entire city if he had to. He couldn't be far, he had only warned the creature about his pickpocket appearance a few moments ago...

A (Very) Rough Morning.

*BUMP*

My apologies. It's been a really rough night...Was the best excuse Lopeus could manage to form up. The stranger however was not convinced, and his rage was still pretty much...well, raging.

I know your kind! Bumping into people like this, hoping to get a little peek into their fortune! It is scum like you that make the streets of this god forsaken town even filthier! Somebody has to teach the likes of you a thing or two!

As he looked around himself, Thundiirn was nowhere to be seen. A little group of people that just kept blindly moving, following their own motives, now stopped. Lopeus was the center of attention in this particular area. He could not risk fighting the stranger, not with the state he was in. Another thing he was afraid of was the bunch discovering his little secret.

This stranger was not really built like a fearsome warrior from legendary tales. He resembled an angry peasant, which he really was. The only problem is, this particular angry peasant was wielding a knife which he probably wasn't planning on using to cut the fruit on a nearby fruit stand.

Luckily for both of them, Lopeus did not make himself hard to find. Already a small crowd was gathering around the creature, for who knows what reason. Probably nothing good. Slipping between two people in a thin area of the growing crowd, he found himself face to face with a man wielding a knife and not looking too happy to see either of them.

"This varmint yers, mister? You can answer for him then." Thundiirn smiled at this, as innocently as possible though he was highly amused that the bloke had reacted that poorly to whatever this harmless, disoriented Nuit had done to him.

"Sir? I don't follow. What has my friend here done to you?"

"Whats he done? He's gone and tried to pick me pockets!" the man cried. Thundiirn silently lamented not having gotten a chance to buy a weapon yet, though it was more a cathartic thought than real wishing. Had he had a weapon right now, he still likely would have done what he was about to do.

"Why sir, I think you are mistaken." Thundiirn began, at the same time scanning the crowd and deciding who would play victim today. "My friend here is an innocent civilian who bumped into you by mistake." This was a routine fight for the crowd, and they began to disperse in disappointment. Now it was just him and the knife wielder. And, unknowingly, the short man with a flimsy cotton shirt and dirty hair who had been in the crowd. Thundiirn nodded his head in the man's direction.
"Between me and youse though, chap, you should be keeping a closer eye on that stall of yours and less on your pockets. That man there jus' stole somethin'." He slipped into more peasant speak as he said this, figuring being relate-able could only help in such an instance as he distracted the man from Lopeus' misbehavior.

At this, the man burst into a full on grin.
"I been trying to track down my thief for a week now! Thank ya kindly sir, I'll give ya a 20% discount on anything in the shop, its the least I could do." Thuniirn glanced at the shanky, broken down stand, and all the dusty and dirt smudged broken trinkets that stood (or tried to) on it. Thundiirn thanked the man, and promised insincerely to return later. Finally turning to Lopeus, who was probably terrified half to death at this point, he was surprised at the general lack of indication on the Nuit's face. Must be a Nuit thing... he thought. There was a lot to learn.

"Come on, clutzy, let's go before any other knives show up aimed at our back."
