Name: Mirza, from the tents of Hamish, of the sons of Malech Race: Benshira Age 24 Birthday: 7 Autumn, 488 Physical Description From a sickness at a young age, Mirza did grow to be healthy looking. It was more than the palish cast to her skin or that she seemed to thin for her bone structure; it was a essence of fragility that surrounded her. She has been in fine health since those days though, appearances aside. She may get tired a little faster than her peers, but her was functional. Beside the traditional clothing of her people hid much of it. She wore large shawls that the covered her dark, curly hair and the veil of metal disks that conceal much of her fave, leaving only her eyes exposed. Her eyes are one part of her that do not look sickly in the slightest. The are sharp, taking in everything that she looks at. It's easy to forget her weakness when she begins to study someone. The sleaveless tunic she wears goes down to her ankles and is sinched by a chord. In the winter months she may wear a heavier fabric, but she does not like to give up the garb of the Benshira, right down to the sandals. At 5'1, and being as covered as she is, one might thing she is a child at first glance; she is just so small. However, beneath the veil is a very expressive and womanly face. Her thinness only makes her features seem bolder. The way she moves also seems so purposeful. She does not move especially quickly, as she does tire easily, but she moves as though she always knows exactly what she is doing and where she is going, even if she doesn't. Character concept: Mirza is a gentle, thoughtful, and devout woman. Like many of her people, she is extremely stubborn. If she believes what she is doing is right, it is a near impossible goal to make her change her actions. Such behavior is what took her away from her family and neighbors in the first place. The knowledge she thirsts for shames her family, but Mirza knows in her heart that magic is not evil. She wants to prove to her people that she can keep her heart pure in this quest. She is perhaps overconfident in herself and is currently going through a crisis of faith, not in her gods, but in the belief she was raised in. If the tent was wrong about magic, what else was it wrong about? Were the Benshira disrespectful to the more bestial races? She aims to learn firsthand, unaware of the negative possibilities. What does she have to worry about? She has faith in Yahal, and so she shall be protected. Her faith grew the moment she left her people. She holds a lot of guilt for leaving he Benshira, even if she thinks that she was right. So she tries to continue many of the traditions from her childhood with renewed fervor. She feels that if she looses Yahal, she looses her connection with home. Mirza did pick up a few more gods to pray too along the was, most notably Priskel and Eyris. She will give a prayer to any of the other gods she feels are good, should the appropriate occasion arrive. Character History: Mirza was born in the deserts of Eyktol, a large healthy baby. She grew to be a strong and gifted child, truly destined for great things. At the age of 9 she fell to a sickness that no matter what the healers did, had no effect. Mirza was surely to die. Somehow, she hung. Slowly she grew stronger and defeated the illness on her own. Though joyous that she did not die, Mirza was left nearly a cripple. She never gained all of her strength back. She was doomed to remain near her home. She was clever though and showed some skill with the plants. Eventually, she even figured out ways to preserve them, and even food. Despite all of her success and how helpful she was to the tent, when Mirza reached marriageable age, no one claimed her. It was likely she was not strong enough to bear children. Her younger siblings began to go befor her and she grew only more determined to study. If she was to be a spinster, she would be a talented one. Visitors were uncommon, but unheard of, as they roamed the vast desserts. One such man came to them in Mirza 21st Spring. The visitor wasn't that much older that Mirza herself, but he seemed so worldly. Mirza often visited him to be told of the world. Soon she discovered that he had magic. Magic was not strictly forbidden, but was frowned upon by her tent. Mirza was intrigued. Soon enough the rest of her family found out too, and asked the man to leave their company. With the blessing of the Hamish, the oldest patriarch of her tent, she asked to go with this traveler. He agreed and as they made their way to Syliras, he taught her some basic magic and she taught him about her gods, her people, herbs, and philtering. They parted ways at the gate and Mirza has been in the city since. |
