I'd like to respectfully disagree with you there, Goss. I think what you said is accurate 9 times out of 10, and 9 times out of 10 in that remaining 1 the angsty we-cant-be-together stories are spawned of stupid adolescent (mis)ideals of love. However I think that there is room for it in good writing, however slight. Life has a way of making pretty crazy conditions for people, and sometimes love is great but just too complicated to work. Especially when you start getting into non-traditional love.
But then I guess we get into the realm of arguing what kind of love is the wrong kind, which people can have quite passionate opinions on, so I won't step on toes and get too far into that unless you want to
