Appearance :
Tatiam is a slender being with sparse curves and a healthy, slightly athletic shape. Her skin is naturally fairly tanned, her hair a rich and deep chestnut color with copper highlights, which she keeps in long braids, sometimes under a headscarf. Her golden orange eyes are often marked with a dark line of makeup. She wears a few piercings, notably in the ears and one in the left nostril, and several polished rings which the mixed-blood tends to twist and turn on her fingers as she ponders.

Clad of cotton and leather garments, she looks ready to venture outside the city or get into a fight. The few uncovered scars tell of her hard days as a drudge and her adventures in the wild. She sometimes wear a dichroic glass pendant under her clothes, hidden. Tatiam's gestures tend to be balanced and composed when she is by herself while vivid interactions provoke a bolder demeanor on her part.

Temperament :
Tatiam is a conflicted individual, with a duality hard to control. There's a lot about herself that she doesn't share, equally losing herself in action and contemplation. The mixed-blood likes the comfort of knowing where she stands towards people, and won't be easily approached by anyone who seems of higher status.

The young woman likes to put up a front, one that isn't all that different from what's underneath, but a lot prouder, sometimes louder and less restrained. Because Tatiam doesn't know how to fulfill her myriad needs, she might act cowardly once and brave the next, resolve on pursuing a desire at the expense of many others, or cluelessly try placating her constant dissatisfaction.

Like her father, she has begun to take a fancy to smoking and drinking, which impair her feelings and soothe her. It's often in that state that she tries to connect with others, sometimes just for a card game or a drinking challenge, sometimes trying to drown her past with any kind of new relationship. Endearing, sometimes charming and entertaining, Tatiam is a good partner for parties. She loves music, dancing, teasing or playing tricks on people, and she laughs quite easily.

Her instinctive way of communicating revolves around showing more of her inner emotions and struggle, which means the people that get close to her aren't always friends, but stable figures, people alike to her, or any kind of lucid person who can offer her a piece of comfort, advice, or shake her resolve when it needs to be. Not all of them realize that she has allowed them into her life.

Tatiam stays away from the Inarta and the Wind Reach. She won't reveal the reason of her obvious animosity, but she doesn't hide the resentment either. She pretends not to know from the region and their language. The fact that the half-Inarta has lost her sense of belonging and doesn't know what to fight for anymore, has made her value for life--and mostly her own--fade. If she saw an opportunity to give it up in exchange for a decent outcome for others, she would consider it.

The brown-haired woman tends to be insubordinate, especially when her opinion or input could largely make a difference. She's a natural rebel who gives a lot of worth to equity, freedom (of thought, of expression and to a certain extent, of action), creativity, trust (that is, others trusting her) and love. She shows a very special kind of loyalty, but she needs a lot of time and won't necessarily give people her attention easily.

Tatiam's rare prayers are far from being exclusive, rather she addresses any higher being as the only witnesses of the entirety of her life. To some she utters mental profanities more than anything else, others she cherishes as her benevolent companions.
Akajia, for keeping her secrets and letting the night shroud her as she lets loose her obscure thoughts.
Leth, sole companion and guide in the darkness of her thoughts.
Aquiras, giving her the curiosity to discover the different places of Mizahar, and hope for a better life, closing doors and opening new ones throughout her journey.
Caiyha, both beautiful and unforgiving as are the lands of Mizahar.
Eyris, keeper and provider of wisdom and knowledge. Tatiam is sometimes grateful, sometimes angry at her meager generosity.
Rhaus, responsible for her (lack of) inspiration and chaotic mind, the creator and entertainer, a model and a carefree fool.
Nysel, whose symbols she uses in her paintings. He feels like a mystical messenger who speaks within her dreams, which often seem so foreign and original that she cannot believe that they are a manifestation of her mind and nothing more.
Sivah, influencing her frivolous, hedonistic, sometimes excessive envies with tempting offers.
Nikali, comparatively, is Sivah's dark sister, honest but still enthralling. She doesn't lie, a true friend who stays by Tatiam's side, but doesn't hesitate to say: "I told you so." She reveals people's dark nature without embarrassment, and that has always given Tatiam a lot of respect for her.
Lhex, more to laugh sarcastically with him when she feels disconnected from life, or the world. She doesn't pray for his help, but rather mocks the ironical and sometimes entertaining turn of events that she witnesses. She usually hates him for giving her no rest.
Krysus, when she wants to cross the gates and hope for a swift end.

History
Before birth :
486 AV
A crew of ships had been travelling South and selling goods from Spires to Denval and eventually stopping at Wind Reach as a violent storm chased them. Winter had arrived, preventing the frozen ships to leave the docks and forcing the crew to sell everything the Inarta would take until they had to put their own talents to use. Denova was among those sailors and traders when she met a very skilled musician and bonded with him.

488 AV
Denova's life had changed since, living in Wind Reach and working as a commoner. She became pregnant with Tatiam during that year, and was still feeling divided about the idea of letting her soon-to-be baby live in the ways of the Inarta. Rhaen, her husband, had no such concerns. He was slowly beginning to feel the weight of his years as a hard worker, seldom indulging in the wrong things and having no pride left but for his art.

Childhood :
489 AV until 496 AV (0 to 7 years old)
Sefiryn was born into the world, her complexion the one helpless condemnation of her fate. It did not make her parents love her any less, but taking after her mother was an offense to the Inarta. Denova hadn't expected this judgment to go that far, still Sef had grown up rather apart and isolated from the rest of the children her age. There were a few exceptions to this, namely a kind girl who had gone out of her way to share a meaningful friendship with Sefiryn during their childhood.

Despite her high interest for birds, the mixed-blood had no particular talent or gift with them. During her Bendi assignments, she visited the aeries without bonding with any eagle, but she loved to tame the smaller birds in a fashion that might have been more similar and conventional to her mother's culture. Her lack of intuitive telepathy was almost expected due to her dark features, so for little Sefiryn, it felt like her life was already written.

497 AV (8 years old)
As a Yasi, Sef tried hard to prove herself as a valuable person. The commoners knew her by then, not because she wasn't properly raised by her parents, but because she would often leave her home even though she wasn't on Bendi duty. The brown-haired girl was a lot like her parents: A curious (aspiring) artist, wanting to explore the world and her own mind. Sef wasn't nearly as hard working as she was independent, though, and that made her a problem child even more than she already was.

The young girl's attention and willingness to learn wasn't always present, her learning curve was also quite lengthy; Sefiryn took more time than average to master simple skills, but by then she was more keen and successful with them than most. Her few chances at practicing anything with the amount of focus she needed still did not amount to much. She had little interest in academics, for it seemed too abstract and intangible, and she would not impress any artisan.

The mixed-blood's clumsiness, among with everything else she did and was, cost her her chances for a brighter future. She was just a kid, after all, a ten years old who didn't grasp the importance of her actions. Having been the exception since birth, Sef did not well comprehend what was awaiting her.

499 AV (9 years old)
It was at the beginning of the year, in the first days of winter, that Sef was put in the ranks of the Dek. It was more incomprehension than humiliation; Sefiryn's mind was very occupied, shocked and trapped in a dreamy state, some thought Sef had a peculiar illness or disorder and would never be fit for anything more than the Dek caste.

Adolescence :
499 AV until 504 AV (9 to 15 years old)
The darkly skinned girl grew up with the dredges, finally learning her place. Sefiryn would rarely speak or visit her parents, her budding body barely gaining a feminine shape with the passing years. The harshness of that life forced her to daydream much less than she did before, but the rebellion inside of her, the confused anger fed her inner creativity.

Sefiryn would escape and breathe her sorrows clad by the night shadows. It was a life she had partly accepted, if only to have those precious moments to herself. She was getting used to being called an incompetent fool, sometimes getting into fights and stealing food. The punishment for her lack of discipline only fueled the fire, but Sef kept silent.

505 AV (15 years old)
Unable to witness the horrors of her daughter's life longer, Denova pleaded Rhaen to do something. He surely wanted to save Sef, but knowing her interest in painting, Rhaen didn't see how he could elevate her himself. With enough thought, Sefiryn's father remembered the favors and help he had given, until a soul reluctantly accepted to take his daughter as apprentice. The artisan owed Rhaen, after all, Endel was still a young adult striving to improve and be recognized as a talented painter. Sefiryn was an obstacle to his goals, but he recognized the untapped and untrained potential in her. Despite her peculiar style, Endel tried to teach her.

505 AV until 508 AV (15 to 18 years old)
Sef developed feelings for the artisan, oblivious of her parents' influence for her apprenticeship. There was much to appreciate about the young man: he was mature, willing, he took her and their art seriously. He wasn't especially nice or considerate with Sefiryn, but he was one of the rare contact with the living that wasn't completely unpleasant.

Still, Sef was a hindrance, his shackles, and with every passing season, Endel grew more impatient with her. He wasn't exactly a tactful character, and the bitterness he showed towards the mixed-blood was a sign of his ardent exasperation. It had a huge impact on Sefiryn's progress, the helpless dark skin who wasted all her chances. The teacher's desperation didn't prevent Sef's feelings for him to bloom, building a misunderstood frustration between them.

However, the young woman had an admirer, an old friend that watched over her. Sef's secret guardian hadn't often shown her kindness, and only rarely visited the mixed-blood since they had joined the Yasi. Alessa saw no opportunity to approach Sef otherwise when she asked her childhood friend to marry her, admitting to her long-kept love in the process.

There were little words the tanned young woman could utter at that moment. "No" wasn't an option available to her. Scared and dismayed by the confession, Sefiryn could see her world really crumble for the first time. Despite the past hardships, the pain and the unhappiness, Sef had never felt so powerless as then. She didn't even want to be loved in return, she didn't care anymore if she would live another day. The two girl's relationship had never seemed to be more than a friendship, one that had lingered and almost faded, and certainly didn't not bear the depth and meaning of love according to Sef. Brought into Alessa's chambers to further their affection, Sefiryn was completely afflicted, unable to think straight, and so she flew the scene without explanation.

And then she left Wind Reach, blindly.

Adulthood (ongoing) :
508 AV until 509 AV (18 years old)
Her few days in the wilderness were a blur, a mystery as to how she managed to survive and find a caravan that brought her to Denval. Sefiryn changed her name to Tatiam, and adopted the use of a fake family name in order to blend in. Her use of the common language, which she had learned at home with her mother, increased and she became more apt at it. She worked to repay her debts, treasuring her freedom and the secrecy of her past.

509 AV until 512 AV (19 to 23 years old)
Tatiam gathered enough hard earned money to travel from city to city, until she reached Alvadas, spending more than a season there before she finally experienced the feeling of sailing on the Suvan sea. She joined a crew of Svefra sailors heading to Syliras, after having heard much about the thriving city. Tatiam was hopeful to find a suitable place to improve her painting skills and find work that would be more interesting for her.

Syliras did not seem to be the place, alas, but its nature made leaving a challenge in itself. Forced into a small apartment and left to herself, the mixed-blood managed to appreciate her space and painted as much as she could. Tatiam would have to make sacrifices if she intended to leave the crowded city, but as of then, she still needed to figure out if there was a better option out there. The was a profound sadness in her exile from Wind Reach, an epicenter in the world of arts, and she feared no other city could ever compare in that way.
