Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

Postby Tiernan Swiftriver on January 14th, 2013, 7:59 am

Timestamp: 10th Day of Winter,512 AV. 11th bell (11am mid-day)
Location: Area of the sea that is a ten day sail ride south of God's Eye Point.

Tiernan sat cross-legged on the bow of his Casinor, with a simple piece of parchment set in front of him. The parchment only had one image drawn onto it, which was a large circle with a second circle drawn parallel to the first inside of the larger ring. The outer boarder line of the largest circle used to keeping the reaction of a summoning inside its boundaries. Touching the charcoal stick to the parchment, soft intonation of charcoal strikes against the parchment trailed off as into the ambient sounds of near shifting water. Tiernan laced a fine line along the contours the page.

It was a simple mark that laced a horizon line through the center of a second largest circle. It was a hesitant marking as his eye shifted to the side of the parchment looking around to surrounding ocean scape. It was a pleasant day to practice, which was why he had lowered his sails, and dropped anchor to let his ship shift in place softly. The hesitation of his stroke was to compensate for the minor shifting of the ship. Being a perfectionist, he knew he would hate himself if he ruined his circle with a accidental slip of the hand.

ImageReturning his eye to the parchment, he touched the charcoal to the topmost point of the inner circle and dragged a line down the diameter of the circle. The second line itself passed through the first horizontal line to form a cross inside of the circle. At the intersecting point of the two straight lines he drew a small circle that defined the center of the cycle; the small circle resulting in a partition that split the center circle into four halves. The minimal circle was still incomplete since it was missing the inner circle used to set the astral coordinates. He was in no rush to complete the drawing as he paused to examine the charcoal stains on his right hands finger tips.

He wiped his hand along his simple flaxen colored pants leaving a black smudge just above his right thigh. There was a small bowl that was apart of his artist tool kit that he set down on the parchment to weight it down, not wanting a gust or shift of wind to move it as he stood up from his seated postion. Tiernan stretched his hands into the air he walked to the very edge of the bow of his ship. "♩ ~ Come now, come now.. ~♫ The Otani called ♪~ the seas and the streams are fun for us all ♬~ ♩ ~ Her hair was blue, a shimmering hue`." ~♫ Otani, Otani-tan-Oh♬~ " The small sea shanty slipped from his lips as he gazed out to the ocean looking for anything interesting.

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

Postby Tsukiko on January 14th, 2013, 8:35 am

Tsukiko sat comfortably by the tiler of her vessel, a few stray breezes teasing a few strands hair from its' tie. She was relaxed, pleased that she seemed be sailing smoothly, the waters calm around her. Though it was cold, the weather was fine, and she hoped it would hold for awhile. She hummed an improvised tune as she rummaged around for her water-skin. She sipped some of the cool liquid slowly as she, deep in thought, recalling memories of days such as this. Tsukiko had been with the Oceangem pod, her adoptive home for the past two years, since the day she had fallen to Mizahar. She remembered how they had welcomed her, though it hadn't been so welcoming in the beginning, when she had been an outsider. She chuckled softly as she remembered some of the events that had led some of the members to soften up to her. She pondered many things, singing a few lines from tunes she had improvised every now and then. "..the endless blue sky ~♪ is so vast that my eyes ~♫ are caught up in the clouds~ ♩ as my feet are bound to the ground.. I feel so lost and wish to be found~ ♬ but alas.. the light fades away~ ♩~ ...

Tsukiko leaned back against the railing, shielding her eyes with one hand as she looked up at the sky. At that moment, she heard a faint sound, melodic, but to far to discern it completely. She began to sit up slowly, training her gaze on the ocean around her, scanning for it's source. Tsukiko began to recognize the sound as a shanty, one that the younger men of the pod had sung every now and then...
There. She saw what appeared to be another Casinor, sitting with it's sails lowered, and seemingly anchored. The sight of the missing sails caused her to look up at her own, one of them clumsily mended with fishing line. Returning her gaze to the ship, she began to steer her vessel towards it. "Perhaps they're stranded," she thought to herself, glancing at Troian's Casinor...

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

Postby Troian on January 15th, 2013, 10:39 pm

Troian's casinor followed Tsukiko. She'd rather be in hers. It was comforting and in its own way... Beautiful. She sat on the first bow with her Tavan. She was slowing here's down as she watched Tsukiko's casinor. She let her long dreads blow in the wind. She thought sooner or later she'd let her long brown hair sit out. The air was cooling down. She couldn't wait for spring. She would be able to be free. She always felt trapped during the winter. She didn't know why though. She just felt trapped. She shook her head once she heard a song. A song that sounded soothing. It reminded her of the songs Her pod would sing. No, her pod sung songs about what happened around them and each other. This one reminded her more of the one the Konti she worked with would sing. She would study the Konti's seductive moves.

Troian wasn't the best slave. She would've gotten abused every single day if it weren't for the Konti. She'd step in between Troian and the slave owner. She silenced him and sung a song. A beautiful one that even attracted Troian but mostly the man. His wife worked a lot so she was never around to witness it. Witness the Konti touching her curves and body swaying. Her dance around the man before touching his chest. She'd tell Troian to go outside and feed the farm animals. She would but then she'd look through the window and watch the Konti turn him into her slave. Troian began to wonder. Is that why the Konti liked it there? She controlled him. What was she planning on doing? Troian wondered where the Konti is now. If she's still there...

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

NPC :
Image
Full Name: Fionnula Swiftriver
NPC Type: Traveling Companion
Race: Svefra
Association: Adopted-Daughter
Religion: Laviku
Birthplace & Age: Northern Suvan Sea; 10
Status: Alive

Skills:
  • Dance: 5
  • Sailing: 5
  • Fishing: 5
  • Cooking: 5
  • Swimming: 5
  • Dagger: 5

History

Born into an unstable, almost abusive environment. Hardened more than someone her age should be, Fionnula is truly conflicted about life. She didn't know much kindness in her youth being raised in poverty, hungry more often than not. It was enough to make her run away from the pirates she called parents. Fionnula was found by Tiernan Swiftriver alone after the The Massive Djed Storm of 512 on the shores of Glasswater Bay. He became her surrogate father after bringing her to the Lia of his pod, who adopted her into the Swiftriver's.

Fionnula is Sweet as sugar and as kind as snuggly kitten. She is the last person anyone would expect to be a fighter. In fact, on listening to her, most people doubt she's ever lifted a weapon in her life. Not every killer does it for the thrill, or even enjoys the act at all. Though given that her previous parents were constantly attacked during her short life due to piracy, she learned how to use a knife to defend herself. She's been having trouble adjusting to the much more passive roll, yet, Tiernan's seriousness and kindness has kept her balanced. Growing attached to the man more everyday.

She currently lives with Tiernan Swiftriver aboard his casinor, yet often lives with the Pod Lia when Tiernan is out on a long adventure.

He had been completely wrapped up in his thoughts, humming the melody of the song he had been singing quietly. A large portion of himself thought that he should have just thrown himself into seclusion after what had happened several days ago; shuffling himself back away from the railing of the ship. Even though his hallucination had subsided, he still found himself looking for shadows of specters at the edges of his peripheral vision. After falling prey to the visions of hallucinations, he was right to question his sanity and reality. The only real anchor that weighed the ship of his mind to sanity was his daughter Fionnula for the past ten days.

Tiernan canted his head to one side as he watched two separate casinors drift toward his ship. Regardless of who the strangers were to him or one another, he couldn't really tolerate the notion of something getting close that could make Fionnula cry. He waited patiently for a moment trying to spot the occupants of either ship. "WHO GOES THERE!?" He shouted towards the other ships. "NAME YER POD!"

All of Tiernan's shouting had awoken Fionnula from her nap, causing the sleep idled little girl to walk up from the cabin below deck to see who her father was yelling at. The four and a half foot tall little girl wore a simple flaxen beige colored dress with a belt, her clothing matching Tiernan's simple shirt and pants flaxen color. On her belt was a single dagger in its small sheath on her left hip and just like her father, she wore no shoes. With her fists balled up, she began to rub the crust from her eyes. "Pa?" He turned around, waving his hand for her to get below deck until he knew who the strangers were.

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

Postby Tsukiko on January 17th, 2013, 8:30 am

Tsukiko tensed slightly at the aggressiveness in the man's voice -for it was indeed a man's voice- but soon realized that it was caused by something that seemed to be protectiveness. She caught a glimpse of the small figure of a child, and guessed that it was his child. Tsukiko moved into a position which would allow the man to have a better view of her, in a way to reassure him that she was not threat, and called back. "I am called Tsukiko, and I am of the Oceangem Pod." She gestured to Troian's casinor, and calmly added, "This is my friend Troian, and we mean no harm, we just thought that you might need some help!"

Tsukiko lowered her gaze and took a deep breath, hoping that the pitch she had used helped her voice to reach this man who seemed to care so deeply for his child. Her figure was lithe and toned from sailing her own vessel, though she did possessed some rather flattering curves, and her skin, a golden tone. Her blue eyes softened slightly at the thought, wondering how it would feel to have had such a father... however, she could not even remembered her name, and had had to choose one for herself. In appearance, she was around the age of nineteen to twenty-one, she had only just arrived in Mizahar two years earlier. She could not remember much of her past, and the bits she remembered came in flashes, rarely making any sense at all. Tsukiko did, however, feel as if a part of her was missing from her existence... something that would most likely never be replaced.

She looked back at the Casinor before her, waiting for the man's reaction. Some part of her had admired his voice's resonance, how it had carried across the water so easily. The part of her that caused her to stay up many a night to sing while looking at the moon, or to improvise a tune or two.

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

She was startled by the man's aggression. Surprised actually. She's never been yelled at by another Svefra. She stood. She heard Tsukiko explain who they were and she nodded." Yes, we didn't mean to startle you." She went silent. She had no pod right now. She watched the little girl run her eyes and smiled. He was protecting her... Which is why Troian had no anger. He had the same aggression Missy had when their ship was invaded. Showing no weakness because of they did... It wouldn't end well."We're no threat." They really weren't. When's the last time you heard a Svefra hurting another Svefra? Never because they treated each other like family.

She waited for a response. It's been a while since she saw a child. Years. A lot of years since she saw a child. Her pod was full of them. And Troian being older than all of them helped take care of the kids. She would help a jolly woman named Birtruim lay them down and put them to sleep. And when she did she would tell Troian to stay up just a little longer to incase one of the really little ones awaken. A few times they did, because of a horrible nightmare. Troian would sit by them until they would drift off again. She loved children. She always thought about having her own. But maybe not now. Maybe when she can take care of herself she will.

"Oceangem, huh? Quite a'ways-way from the Mid'Suvan Sea." Said as he looked up to the mast of his ship then back to the other ships. "No, there is a minimal breeze and current today. We are in no trouble. Just dropped anchor and sail to relax on calm tides. My name is Tiernan and this…" He waved his hand over to Fionnula to come next to him. "...Is my daughter Fionnula." WIth a bright smile on her face the bubbly little girl moved to stand next to him. She lifted her left arm and began to wave to the two women. "Can just call me Fi if ya want's." She said as Tiernan rested a hand on his daughters shoulder to comfort her; The hand he set on her shoulder was also used to stop her from waving her arm around in the air frantically. She was a bit overexcited to have company around that wasn't her father.

"Ya'can also just call me Tier and we are of the Swiftriver Pod." Leaning over the edge of his ships railing, he began to inspect the weaved cylinders of rope that formed bumpers which hung along the side of his ship. Once he was sure that each bumper was in place and would keep the hulls of his ship from scratching or crashing against the other ships he turned back to the women. "Yer'welcome to join us, Just pull up port or starboard an I'll Raft us up."

OOCFeel free to pull your Casinor's up next to Tier's ship side by side. You can control/Assume that Tiernan will lay out the raft properly, Secure and tie the boats together with bow and stern lines, ect, ect... then you can just come abroad his ship.

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

OOCAlright, thank you ;)

"Hello Tiernan, and thank you for the invitation," she nodded, bowing slightly as she did. She gestured to Troian, indicating that she would go to the far side. Tsukiko did as the man had suggested, steering her Catamaran towards the starboard side of his Casinor, lining up her own as accurately as she could, and lowered a bumper of her own. 'You could never be too careful', Tsukiko thought. She ducked into her cabin, bringing out some her rations, snagged her water-skin where she had left it, and jumped over to Tiernan's vessel. Tsukiko landed lightly, barely causing any movement to the craft. She set her bag of rations down by the railing and waited for Troian to join them.

While she waited, she looked at Tier's daughter and smiled. The girl, Fionnula as her father called her, seemed to look at her with curious eyes as she stood beside Tiernan. 'I suppose she does not meet women too often,' she thought to herself. She smiled, thinking, 'And little she does she know, she will probably never meet another of my kind... either of them, for that matter' she thought, glancing up at Tiernan. Her eyes seemed to laugh at this thought. Tsukiko turned her gaze back to Fionnula. She always found children fascinating, being so small, yet so full of life. She had been very amused to watch the children of the Oceangem pod and their antics, and usually helped with their care. Tsukiko gave a small wave to the child. "Hello Fionnula, or would you prefer to be called Fi?", she asked, crouching so that her knees were folded, and was balanced on the balls of her feet.

She pulled her casinor up on the other side. It slightly bumped his and since she was so close, she just jumped over. She jogged over to the two and crossed her arm." Where's your pod?" She asked curious. It was just the two of them. Or at least she thought it was. She looked around. Then looked at the two. She thought it was cute how the outfits almost match. She's seen it once in the big cities with the mothers and daughters but never the father and daughter. She smiled before putting her head down.

Opening Gates of Friendship [Tsukiko, Troian, Open]

Postby Tiernan Swiftriver on January 21st, 2013, 6:00 pm

On first impression, the two women seemed lovingly pleasant to him. He loved their tones of voice when speaking to his daughter, and felt relaxed though to trust them to raft-up with each of their ships. He left Fionnula's side to securely tie the lines that connected his ship to Tsukiko's. As he glanced over at Fi who was nodding in agreement. "Fi's fine, Pa sometimes calls'me Fi-Fi" Tiernan jokingly patted her on the head softly. "Fluffy Fi-Fi" Calling her a name which caused the little girl to stick her tongue out at her daddy. "Aye'am not Fluffy! I am strong like you!"

Her words were a compliment but held roots of sadness. Tiernan rafted Troian's ship to the other side of his ship as he shook his head. Fionnula had once thought he was dying, yet was strong enough to fend of death itself. It was a childish notion that he let his daughter believe so she didn't have to worry about him. Turning to Troian, Tiernan pointed to south.

"The main ships of the Swiftrivers are a'ways-way that way. Sail'till'ya hit Glasswater Bay an'aye am sure'ya will see Swiftrivers sails." SInce he was in the middle of practicing, he turned back to the Summoning circle he had just drawn. Removing the small bowl that was used as a paper weight and picking up the parchment. Fionnula immediately went wide eyed when she saw the parchment. "Oy! Are'ya gonna'make the magic window!? Aye wanna see!" He picked up his charcoal stick, holding it in front of his lips shushing her to lower her voice. "Aye was. Just dun wanna startle our guests. Aye'll show ya later."

Of all his arcane arts, he was more public about the fact he was a summoner than a Reimancer. He even told Fi to not speak about his Reimancy when infront of strangers.
