28th Day of Winter,
Denvali Quarter
Early Morning

Mak'Viri stretched as the woke in the University employment quarters in her bedroll, a small smile on her face. She'd slept well, despite the frosty temperatures that crept in from outside. It was far colder this time in Mura, so this winter was practically balmy in comparison. She stood up and rolled her bedding before exiting the Old Quarter. She didn't mind carrying the bedding around, needing to get used to the burden before she left Zeltiva anyway, so she placed it in her pack, which she slung over her shoulders. The extra burden didn't bother her much, but she knew that if she wanted to carry much more around, she'd need a horse and saddlebags.

She hadn't gotten more than a sewing kit, scarf and coif from the market a few days ago, but they were sufficient for covering the largest of her racial oddities. She strolled leisurely through the run down streets, hands grasping her cloak tightly around her frame. She had planned to travel from Zeltiva before the winter had truly set in, but she had changed her plans to leave immediately.

There were several things keeping her from striking out into the wilds immediately. First, she was still too new to the area to really gather people willing to join her on her journey that she didn't first have to pay. Second, she intended to buy a horse, and such an animal would be extremely hard to feed when there isn't anything growing to feed it. Third, she needed more time to plan her journey, to read maps, learn to read, in general, and just pick up a few more useful skills before she left, and by the time she'd done that, arranged the necessary contacts, and so on, winter would be in full swing. She had no choice but to stay until spring.

She sighed as she hefted her bag over her shoulder, a worried frown marring the peaceful expression on her face. She wasn't sure what she'd be doing as far as expenses went but she hoped to get a job sooner rather than later. She had more money than most in her position, but she was conservative and frugal by nature, so she would rather not spend the majority of her funds on merely surviving during the winter in a city when she could have a relatively comfortable existence, even if it were spent out on the streets at night.

She blinked as a loud ripping sound tore through the quiet air, and looked down to find the source. Her dress now had a long gash running from her ankles to her thigh, which exposed the chemise she wore beneath it. She stopped, setting her pack down to rummage through it, glad she'd bought the sewing kit at the market now, and pulled the dress off over her head. She took out a few needles of varying size, some thread, a pair of shears, and then frowned.

She had no idea how to do this... She looked at her materials with a frown.
