Personality:
  • Maribreen is a childish, fun-loving boy, and sees almost everything as a game. He's a bit of a wild-child and lacks common sense, and could come off as eccentric (if you want to go that far). He doesn't really mean harm, nor does he want to kill.

  • Immature and lacks understanding

- Character's Concept -

This character was made with the basic idea of "what can a child do?"
The boy isn't immortal or have extreme superpowers, he's just a child. However, just because he's a child doesn't mean he's not capable of doing incredible things. You hear stories about children preforming amazing feats, that's the concept I had in mind for this character.

For the character's personality, I decided to go with the fun loving trickster. mainly because I think its a good way for him do distract himself, trying to ignore and suppress his memories surrounding his mother's death, instead of being the type who reads books.

His skills mainly focus on avoiding combat, rather than engaging. A child wouldn't be physically strong enough to do substantial damage to a harden, or trained enemy. So avoiding or running should be the main option for a child. Attacking head on would be extremely dangerous, and if he wanted to attack, he'd have to be cunning.

- History -

Meribreen grew up only by his mother’s side. His father abandoned him before he was even born, he just ran away. After Meribreen was born, his mother took care of him. She ignored that Meribreen had a father, instead made herself believe that she was blessed with a child. Meribreen doesn’t know anything about his father, what he does know is that he exists. He learnt this when his mother accidently leaked information about him. However, he was only 6 when he heard that piece of information.

Meribreen’s nimbleness and acrobatics started at age three. He was only three so all he could do is jump, but they were uncoordinated and often left him falling on his backside. As time passed, his skills developed further when he could successful jump and roll about. When he turned five years old, He could easily achieve a forward handspring with no issues what so ever, as well as preforming a cartwheel. However, aerial based flips and twist were still a challenge. He’d attempt them, but would often fail. Landing on his rear, or flat on his body didn’t discourage him; it just made him want to do it again. His first consecutive summersault was perfected at age six, but still has trouble preforming some tricks.

During his sixth year, food for his family was scarce, so they had to forage for it. His mother attempted to teach Meribreen how to survive in the wilds, in case they had to sell the house. She tried to teach him the basics of foraging for food, explaining what was good, bad and poisonous. It was extremely difficult, but she managed to teach him the simple parts of gathering berries and fruit. Meribreen build little forts out of whatever he could find, using it as a play fort or shelter. Although it was crude, it served its purpose as a shelter. Meribreen never slayed an animal for meat, only collected berries and plants, so eating meat was very rare for him. Grown accustom to fruit, he’d choose a fruit that’s sweet over a well done steak.

At age seven, a new interest arrived for Meribreen, a fan and shurikens. His mother gave him her heirloom. The heirloom was a fan with a silk spread that had a picture of a forest on it. The fan was handed down for her mother, and now to Meribreen. She thought that her child needed to learn how to protect himself, should a situation arrive and she wasn’t around to help. Along with the fan, she handed him shurikens for throwing. She taught him the basics of using the fan, and throwing the stars. He was able to pick up the skills quickly, but his skills in combat aren’t the best. So he had to rely on his nimbleness to survive a confrontation.

His eighth year was the grimmest part of his life. His mother was murdered, and he was left alone. He was too young to understand what murder was, but he knew that his mother wasn’t going to be around anymore. The grief he felt was strong enough to suppressed everything memory that surrounded his mother’s death, it’s possible he knew who the murder was, but is unable to remember. On his eight year he also met a very interesting crow that talked.

Living alone with the skills he learnt, nine year old had to sell his house. There was no orphanage in Syliras, and he didn’t like the thought of someone else taking care of him besides his mother. So he chose to live in a mobile home, a tent. He understood the basics of surviving in the wild, but he still needed to be near civilisation. His tent is often seen outside the city, mostly hidden is shrubbery.
