92nd Day of Winter
East Street
Sunrise

Mak'Viri walked quickly through the streets, her new Golden Palomino horse named Kaiya at her side. Mak'Viri kept her head down to avoid the stares she got from time to time. She wore a teal scarf around her neck, despite the warmer weather to conceal her gills from view. She was still nervous about being seen, despite having been in Zeltiva for an entire season. It was always best not to tempt fate. A dark brown coif was worn over her hair, and a cloak over her shoulders that matched it in color.

The worn cobblestone underfoot was drenched from the dreary weather of this particular afternoon, and people move quickly from one place to another, huddled down, wrapped tightly in their cloaks. Mak'Viri mimicked them in this, despite her coif, wanting to keep her head dry. She ducked beneath the flaps of several overhanging tents that dripped steadily as she continued down the street. Recently, she had been telling anyone willing to listen that she would be venturing into the Sylira Wilderness, and that she would need others to travel with her that could survive in the wilds.

She wound her way to an abandoned stall, taking refuge from the rain that pelted down upon the port town. She tied Kaiya's reigns to a wooden post that held the stall's roof up, and settled on a small wooden bench concealed behind the stall. She would be watching the streets for those who would be coming to join her, since she had specified she would be here this day to speak to those willing to join her. She shifted a little, the brown leather pants, corset, and boots were seen, as well as the sleeved of the teal blouse she wore. She propped her chin on one hand, staring out over the thin, milling crowd blankly.

The journey that she had originally planned to embark on at the very beginning of winter would be a hard one, she knew this. Getting along with new people had never been hard for her, but she knew that others getting along with each other may be hard. Surviving would be a whole different issue. They would need to learn how to start fires, to hunt for food, to entertain themselves as they moved from place to place, to defend themselves if they weren't already aware of how... The list went on and on. Mak'Viri took a deep breath, a little daunted at the thought.

She stood again restlessly, checking over the saddlebags on Kaiya's back, making sure everything was secure. She threw the horse blanket over her to keep her from getting too cold in the damp air. Kaiya tossed her head, shaking her moon-coloured mane in happiness. A smile crinkled Mak'Viri's face as she ran a pale, webbed hand over Kaiya's nose and murmured soothing words to her. She had bonded with this horse almost instantly, and had been unable to resist buying her as soon as she could. Kaiya was a gentle mare with a smooth gait, which Mak'Viri appreciated, having never ridden a horse before.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught movement coming toward her. She turned, a small smile on her lips. And as the newcomer approached, she dipped her head in greeting. ”Hello. Are you here for the journey into Sylira's Wilderness?” She asked, keeping her manner approachable.

Seeking Companions for Travel

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 20th, 2013, 12:07 am

C’Arya was looking for adventure, something to do to pass the winter, as winter was a dull time in towns. She had heard rumors in the tavern that a woman was looking for traveling companion for a wilderness trek. She was perfect for the job. She new how to track game and hunt. She was a great cook and her skills at herbalism only improved her cooking. You could be stranded in a desert and she would come to you with seasoned rabbit legs, roasted on a spit. She would be an essential part of this journey.

It was raining out, dreary weather in the town. She was walking down east street when she spotted someone who matched the description given perfectly. She followed her through the town, until the woman came to a stop at a deserted market stall and sat down, sheltering herself from the elements. C’Arya had only her tunic and boots on, as she did not need much cloths to be perfectly warm, in fact, she only wore clothes because it was indecent for a woman not to. That was a big advantage of being Kelvic.

She approached the woman, who had a coif over her hair, who busied herself with checking her horse, putting a blanket over its back. C’Arya made her footsteps louder, as she had the habit of walking so she could not be heard, and the woman turned to look at her, a smile dancing across her face. She dipped her head, a greeting and said, “Hello. Are you here for the journey into Sylira’s Wilderness?”
“Yes, indeed I am. My name is C’Arya Tomva, of the third generation of Kelivcs. I am good at surviving out in the wild. I am skilled at hunting and tracking, and I am a good cook. I can also use plants, as I am trained in herbalism. I think I would be a big help on your adventure, if you would have me,” she said, smiling in turn. C’Arya hoped she would be allowed on. She did wander a lot, but that was a lonely life, and it would be good to have companions with her. She waited eagerly for the pale girl’s response.

Seeking Companions for Travel

Postby Mak'Viri on January 23rd, 2013, 1:23 pm

Mak'Viri was used to seeing women who wore more clothing, rather than less, but she'd spent enough time within Zeltiva by now to know a Kelvic would be inclined to wear less or none at all, depending on their nature. So when she examined the woman who approached her more closely as wearing naught but a tunic and boots, saw the vertical pupils in her green eyes, the tint of her red hair, Mak'Viri knew what she was looking at before the woman opened her mouth.

But when she did, Mak'Viri couldn't help but let her honest joy and excitement show in a large, sunny grin. ”Oh, I would love to have you!” She exclaimed with enthusiasm. She leaned against Kaiya a little, who was a bit nervous around the woman, shifting from one foot to the next. Despite this, Mak'Viri knew intuitively that the woman before her would be vital in her journey. Kaiya would just have to get used to dangerous people. She had the feeling there would be other dangers that Kaiya would have to face.

She soothed her mare, though, with a gentle hand along her nose and neck. But she wasn't to be deterred. ”Your skills may prove invaluable. I haven't learned much about surviving in the wilderness, so I look forward to journeying with you for the sake of learning how, if nothing else. But I think we'll be friends before long.” She said with a mysterious smile, and gestured to the bench.

”Why don't you sit? I'm waiting for others to join us. I know that there will be a few of them.” She said, and sat upon one side of the bench herself, leaving enough space for the woman to sit with her.

Seeking Companions for Travel

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 24th, 2013, 2:49 am

C’Arya was surprised at the girl’s reaction. A wash of joy and excitement rushed over her face, her mouth in a sunny grin that made her features light up, which made C’Arya smile too, even though she wasn’t meaning to. “Oh, I would love to have you!” the girl exclaimed, eyes shining. She then leaned against her horse, who looked to be a bit on edge, her feet shuffling around nervously. It was to be expected. Other animals could smell and sense a Kelvic’s animal form, and Kelvic predators cause alarm among more domestic animals. The girl soothed the horse’s mane, with a light touch of her pale hand along its neck and nose.

She continued, looking up, saying “You skills may prove invaluable. I haven’t learned much about surviving in the wilderness, so I look forward to journeying with you for the sake of learning how, if nothing else. But I think we will become friends before long.” She finished with a mysterious smile, and waved a hand, gesturing to the bench. “Why don’t you sit? I’m waiting for others to join us. I know that there will be a few of them,” she said, and sat upon one side of the bench, making room for C’Arya to sit down next to her. C’Arya grinned and sat down, anticipation the adventure ahead. “I look forward to it. I would be glad to teach you what I know along the way, as situations present themselves. It would be great if more people joined us, the more the merrier as they say!” she said, words soft as silk and as sweet as honey. They waited in a pleasant silence for some time, waiting for more people to join them in their travels.
