40th Winter
Just After Midnight
Anchorage Flotilla

Gabrielle Seawind was bored. She, to the greatest degree, had nothing to do and this frustrated her vastly. She was sitting on the deck of her casinor and had her feet up on an upside-down bucket. The Svefra woman tapped her feet on the sides of the wooden bucket, making out the soft beat of a song she had learned long ago.

The skies were dark and the Anchorage was slowly drifting with the seas. Everyone else was already asleep in the cabins of their ships. Gabrielle, on the other hand, was suffering from insomnia and had no whatsoever idea of what she could do to pass the time.

Finally, with a huff, she stood up and stretched. Perhaps a walk would do her some good. She would have to go walk from the decks of ship to ship, and she had to do it softly lest the owners wake up and yell at her.

She hopped unto the ship closest to her casinor, towards the direction of the center of the Anchorage. However, she was careless, and landed with more force than she intended. As she landed, the wooden decks creaked under her weight and the ship swayed very slightly. Sheepishly, she stood still for a while and waited for it to stop swaying.

Hopping unto the next ship was more of a success. There was almost no sound as she did so. With that momentum, she went from deck to deck, deeper into the mass of ships. She had no real goal in mind, though she did think of heading to the bigger ships that held the markets. The young woman wished to see if any goods had been left out carelessly. It was always nice to snatch things when their owners weren’t around.

The Shadows of Ships [Tiernan]

Postby Tiernan Swiftriver on January 21st, 2013, 6:47 pm

Tiernan had sailed hard and fast to the Anchorage Flotilla, sailing from sun up to sun down. Resting only four hours during the night to set sail again before the sun could rise. He had no reason to take the journey slowly once he had dropped his daughter off to stay with his Pod's Lia. He knew a little girl was in no way the perfect person to have aboard a ship when willingly going in search of danger. WIth his skills, he knew the only jobs he would excel in would involve danger. So when he finally arrived at Anchorage during the early morning before sun rise, Tiernan collapsed into his bed to get his well earned hours of sleep,

He had slept from sun up to sun down, sleeping just as hard as he had sailed. Once he got out of bed he slipped on his flaxen colored shirt and pants, ignored putting on his boots as he walked to the upper deck from his cabin below. Stretching his hands far into the air as a yawn slipped from his mouth, he decided to take advantage of the peace and quite of the night. While he enjoyed practicing summoning in public. He loathed preforming Reimancy infront of prying eyes. Tiernan was paranoid that showing people his greatest skill would, in essence, be his greatest weakness.

While he had enough privacy, due to his ship sailing alone. He had lowered his anchor to set his ship close to the merchant ships. Anyone walking across the decks of the merchant ships could see him, but If anyone wished to join him, they would need to swim a short distance to his ship.

Tiernan closed his eyes as he stood on the bow of his ship. Calming his mind as he listend to the sounds of the ocean. "Niar." The incantation helping him to focus his Djed as he expelled an apple sized sphere of res from his finger tip. The incantation itself was simply the word 'rain' said backwards. It was a spell he used when he really didn't feel like doing anything special. The sphere of translucent Res was an ethereal alabaster white in color as it floated in midair. It was a practice to work on his control as the glowing sphere of res hovered around his head. Willing the res to float away from him, then back with an ebb and flow that matched the rocking seas.

It didn’t take long for Gabrielle to find the merchant ships. In the end, she had settled for the ships on the outer parts of the Anchorage. These were the merchants who liked to come and go, usually bringing new products every time they came back. She crept in the dark, taking care not to wake everyone. Gabrielle had little ability in stealth, but she fought to be light on her feet. The wooden boards made soft sounds as she walked across them, but the sounds were not loud enough to wake anyone.

She was atop a merchant ship about double the size of her casinor when she noticed something strange. It was a strange flicker in the corner of her eyes, a movement that caught her attention. Quite startled, and afraid that somebody would catch her obviously trying to look for something to take, she crouched down behind a heap of boxes.

The movement had come from a ship that was not tied to the Anchorage. An area of water separated his casinor from the Anchorage. Gabrielle peered at the ship and the figure atop from it, most of her body hidden behind the crates.

There was a translucent sphere floating atop the man’s hand. It floated from him slightly, and then back again. He was a mage, and he was controlling his… res? Yes, it was called res. Gabrielle had learned that from a mage she had met before.

What was he doing? Curiosity got the best of her and she crept around the boxes, staying as close to the floor as she could. She had her eyes focused on him. Fortunately, she was at the right angle, and was not in his line of vision.

She stopped by the end of the merchant ship, halted by the sea that separated her from the man. If she jumped, it would make a noise, and it would surely catch his attention. But why was she thinking of jumping? To what end? Well, she did want to watch him… what he was doing was certainly interesting.

So, the Svefra woman stayed there in silence. The natural darkness of the night helped to keep her slightly concealed. And she waited, for what he was to do next.
