Thanks to everyone above! Kiran, I should have another vid or so up sometime or another that shows a few good shots with my compound. :)

That set aside, decided to make a vid about the problems with novices and archery. Thought I'd point out a few big things I have noticed that some have been playing as walks in the park. ;) This was a pretty crappy vid as well considering I don't feel too fantastic but oh well. :D

So in the end, what you're saying is the answer is more body building.

Okay, so just out of curiosity. Have you ever used a traditional or recurve? Like.. one without pulleys and sight windows and the crazy trigger release thingys, and all the other fancy stuff we have in modern times but probably not in Miz? And the real question I am wanting to ask is, if you have ever messed with those kinds of bows, how well did your skills with the compound transfer over to using a traditional? Is there a huge difference between how you shoot with a compound versus a different type of bow, or is it all pretty much the same?

Xalet, precisely. More strength, more balance. :)

Ron, I have personally never shot an arrow from a recurve or traditional. When training for tournaments and the like my family has always had a tradition of picking one type of bow and sticking with it from the start. Another thing, I was never really comfortable with the feel of a recurve. However, from what I have been told, it is somewhat the same concept but it does have its differences. A recurve has a different grip feeling than a compound depending on the shape. Some recurves made had different shapes of grips but for the majority, you would have to have a tighter grasp on it than a compound. Also, you would need more balance as without a sight window/arrow rest, the arrow would have to balance on your hand without sliding off. You would also need a better judgement of position as many compounds have sights that you have to adjust to where the arrow is shooting at from a variety of distances like my own. A recurve you pretty much have to judge, from your position, where it will land depending on the trajectory.

However, there is a few differences between the two. With the compound bow, the sight helps your consistency as you have to only take a small amount of time to align your target with the dot. This makes the compound more accurate as well. The compound bow is more powerful, smaller and more compact, and has longer range. This means that if you were to transfer from a compound to a recurve, they wouldn't be precisely the same and some adjusting would be in order over a few times of practice. Thus, the recurve would call for better judgement skills and usually takes longer to get used to and actually get to hitting the target. All in all, there is a slight difference, but same concept.

Hello Daydream,

I have a few points I'd like to make on your last video:

First Point:
I personally feel all bows in Mizahar (unless heavy gadgetted [Is that a word]) wouldn't have sigh windows or any sights at all. All bows within our world would be equal to the bows used in the medieval times in my option.

Example of said bow:
Secret :

Second Point:
With this I believe you are correct in the use of hands to steady to hold the bow. So we would need gloves like the following picture to keep the arrows feathers from tear our hands apart.
Secret :

Third Point
On the subject of needing to be stronger to use a bow better. If this is the case. Wouldn't the use of bows grant us bodybuilding experience since every time we draw the bow back we are working those muscles and getting stronger?

Fourth Point:
And on your point of the nock on the bow string, my grandmother is a Native American and creates authentic Native American Crafts and Weapons. To my point, my grandma once told me that the some tribes used different materials from string, cloth, and sinew to tie on the string to help keep the arrow nocked in the right place.

Now that I look over this post, it doesnt seem to make sense. But if you don't understand any of my points, just ask and I will answer your questions.
