Character History Before her birth, Adilliana’s Mother had been separate for the pod due to disease killing the crew of her boat leaving her alone. Unable to make the return journey to the sea and her pod she wandered the coast line spending over a year on land. During this time, unknown to anyone else she would become enslaved by the Zith. What happened and how she escaped would remain shrouded in mystery. What was unveiled was the she be close to the coastal town of Kenah Where she was reunited with her people when a Nal’yeo was called. It was obvious that her time away from the sea had been distressing and she was accepted back without further incident.
A few months later though it was discover that she was pregnant. It was too soon for her to have attracted the attention of the men of the pod. She became hysterical exclaiming that the child was a curse place upon her by Laviku. She tried without success to rid herself of the life growing within her. However the Lia of her pod interceded ordering her to be restrained for the good of the child. There evidence of a curse upon her and thus she was forced to carry the baby to term.
When Adilliana’s mother died giving birth to her the where muttering amongst the pod that the child truly was a curse, however the baby bore Laviku’s gift of blue eyes. Again the Lia intercede and the child was reluctantly accepted into the pod. As the baby her sleeping Patten had always been off as she would cry all night and sleep all day. As she grew she was able to communicate that this was because the sun hurt her eyes. No doctor could find a problem so it was believed to be something she grow-out of.
Thanks to the abundant sources of food available to the Svefra Adilliana grew to 5’8 feet which is slightly taller than other breeds of female human. Her dark brown locks are often tied up in a scarf so they are out of her way. To an outsider with her colourful clothes she would seem the picture of a Svefra. Amongst the pod though, she is unusual.
She continued to led a nocturnal life by preference though if required she would appear during the day without incident. She is quiet and reserved bearing no tattoos and never spent enough time in the water to find a Tavan. Indeed unless necessary she avoided swimming preferring to remain on deck her attention drawn to thing she did not understand immediately.
This was most obvious with the stars that hung in the night sky. She could spend all night staring skyward, occasionally mapping their positions. This eventually led to her being the weakest swimmer in the pod.
Another difference was her fighting preferences. Younger member of the pod fought unarmed but Adilliana took to keeping a cutlass at her side. This could have been because isolation imposed on her as despite the Lia word most of the pod still looked on her a bad omen. When something went wrong the pod would look at her, holding whispered conversation. The problem with these whispers was the fact that Adilliana hearing was extremely sensitive and she could hear most conversations on a small Casinor without any perceived effort.
However she did have redeeming qualities. She became an astute navigator and a dependable person in a pinch. Despite the differences between her and the other members of the pod she was a part of the family. |
