Kovac woud not have considered the Enclave a place to meet anyone interesting. But his new acquaintances were interesting, or a the least...different. The girl was determined to convince Kovac of the validity of her explanation for his crimson highlights. She lectured him on the nature of the Goddess of Light and delivered an admonition that he not anger Priskil or risk losing his red streaks. As if dismissing the boy's ignorance, the girl shook her head at both of the males.

In the meantime the artist's attention had lighted upon Kovac, after the revelation of his mixed heritage. Valo looked up at the mongrel with deep dark green eyes, the curiosity they possessed almost penetrating in intensity, as if every angle of Kovac's features resonated with the staring young man. Kovac in turn, though a bit unnerved by the gravity of the attention, studied the teenager's face. He was effeminate in countenance, almost attractively so. Valo's features were thin, delicate, even his mouth, like a young woman's. Kovac did not know what to make of the strange boy, but he was relieved when Arandolya chimed in again.

Kovac could not help but smile. The girl was on the verge of adolescence, still possessing the wide eyed wonder of a child with the expanding awareness of the world around her. She was a cute ginger, and in a few years, would probably be an attractive young woman. She leaned in as the two boy's had locked stares, inserting herself into the scene. Kovac looked down at the girl's innocent gold eyes with a wide smile.

"Well thank you..I don't think I look that weird either!" Kovac replied, watching as Aran took a lock of her bright red mane and lifted it towards him, as if she were matching an outfit.

"I would never look as good as you do with red hair Aran, so I will keep my dark hair."The Avora's smile continued, before turning back towards Valo. He was curious why the artist had taken such an apparent interest in him. In his typical inelegant manner, Kovac lead the conversation onward, if only to learn what this strange boy was about. His eyes darted down to Arandolya again, his wink inviting her to stay if she wished, she seemed interested as well.

"So, you are a good artist, but what do you really do...like for a job?"

"I don't think he looks that weird," spoke Arandolya almost accusingly. Had she thought Valo disapproved of the dark haired youth? If so than she was more than wrong, for instantly Valo wanted to be nothing less than the boy's friend. He wanted to become closer to him and to talk and do all these things friends would.

"Well thank you..I don't think I look that weird either!" Kovac added.

Valo averted his eyes instantly. A quick mumble. "I...It's not that... I'm sorry." barely loud enough to hear. A surge of embarrassment passed though him at his foolishness, as his eyes became thrust into the floor, or his book or anything else that was not the two people before him. A vicious tear at his pride.

He still Kept his eyes averted, taking mere periodic glances as the little girl measured up her hair against that of Kovac's person. "He would look good with red hair, so he must be mostly Inarta," she said after a chime, looking behind her to Valo with a smile. At least she smile. At least he had not behaved in a way to offend her, it seemed. A brief stone that fell from his heart. Offending anyone, especially his new acquaintances, was the very last thing he wanted to do.

Suddenly the question came, which perhaps threw Valo a little bit off balance. "So, you are a good artist, but what do you really do...like for a job?" asked Kovac, never once displaying the lack of interest in the artist. Indeed it was an interest he did not expect, despite thinking himself a rather interesting person. But to that question he simply could not reply coherently. In all honesty he did whatever job he could find to help out his mother, how had raised him and his two sisters almost single handedly.

"A bit of this and a bit of that." he finally smiled for there didn't seem to be a better answer. No better answer came to him. "How about you?"

Arandolya seemed surprised by Valo's apparent hurt and embarrassment, finding it quite odd in the world of outspoken Inartans that would snap at a comment towards their pride or honor. If someone was offended, or hurt - or affected in any way, really - by something Arandolya said, they were quick to tell her. Her parents often chided her careless tongue, and tried to teach her more on accurately perceiving emotions instead of assuming as she often did. Arandolya didn't mind when people spoke harshly, or bluntly to her, finding it much easier to respond and correct than trying to understand what bothered them. People with silent grudges never really got along with young Arandolya, as she normally didn't catch on they were displeased, and had a large change of repeating the offence.

The fact that Valo adverted his gaze and added nothing while Kovac responded easily to Arandolya, made her slightly worried she had hurt his feelings. "I would never look as good as you do with red hair Aran, so I will keep my dark hair," Kovac said to break into Arandolya's thoughts. She smiled briefly at him, and peered at Valo who had seemed relieved when she had smiled at him. Kovac went to address the other boy though, so Arandolya retreated from addressing the problem, instead beginning to twirl, letting her hair swirl like fire around her.

The two boys started talking of work and jobs, and things Arandolya didn't want to have to worry about. She had little understanding of what 'this and that' might pertain to, and tried not to assume. 'This and that' sounded like her Bendi, though she was sure Valo was not a Yasi any more. Perhaps it just meant he was almost like her father? He was a Chiet that didn't have a firm job. He would do odd jobs to help various traders, or stalls, or people in general if they paid enough. That, paired with her mother's income made them live modestly, but comfortably. Arandolya began to wonder if they had families, though she thought they might be too young for that.

She stayed quiet during their brief exchange, content to twirl on the spot in the frivolous way of a young girl. "Look, if I go really fast I think I'm outside during a sunset it's so red!" she suddenly spoke up, twirling faster with her arms outstretched, her vibrant hair blocking her view of the outside world. She stopped, and after a small stumble to regain her coherence, Arandolya blinked at the young man named Valo. Wait-!! He had long hair too!!! She was quick to pounce, and tugged on his hand with a wide golden gaze. "You should try it!! I bet your hair is long enough to do it. Please please? Let's all spin! You feel like you're flying!" Arandolya said urgently, holding her voice to an impatient whisper. Though she spoke quietly, Arandolya seemed to have forgotten she was in a library of precious books and fragile articles. All she was aware of that this was an empty space. It was free of obstacles. Spinning was fun. There was enough room. Done!

She let go of the man and started spinning herself, seemingly uncaring if the two joined them. "I wish I could fly somewhere, have you ever gone flying?" came her whimsical tone from the mass of swirling red hair, that continued to rotate on spot until she felt thoroughly 'spun out', settling down promptly on her rump to ensure she didn't fall.

Kovac watched the countenance of the artist fall, as if he suffered from some sudden guilt or sadness at the imagined slight he had made against the mongrel. The boy mumbled an apology and Valo's thin features turned away, partially shrouded by his long hair, his eyes cast down. It was a feminine gesture, a humility rare in Wind Reach, a tender sensibility uncommon among Kovac's own fellows, and most inartans in general. Suddenly Kovac felt as if he were the one guilty of something. The young archer wasn't sure if he wanted to lay a comforting hand on the redhead's shoulder, or seize him by the mane and insist he act like a man.

Instead, Kovac exhibited a rare bit of diplomacy, diverting the conversation, posing his innocuous question about a job. Valo's answer was not particularly satisfying, but it pulled the boy out of his pouting, and began the conversation anew. It did not sound like Valo was apprenticed, that he was learning a trade in particular, though he supposed Wind Reach had enough glass artists, maybe someone who could create art with drawings and paintings could earn enough of a living. Valo then turned the inquiry upon his new friend.

"Me? I am a hunter." Kovac stated proudly. True, he was a hunter, if only a novice. He had been mentored by the old hunter since he was taken as an apprentice from the Yasi. "I have been on several hunts, though I have not ridden with the eagle riders yet." Only the most skilled Avora hunters enjoyed that privilege.

Kovac was distracted by the flash of red in the corner of his eye, turning to see the girl twirling around, her hair a fiery mop whirling around her pretty face. She posed a challenge to Valo, to join her in her impromptu dance. Kovac shot the boy a broad smile, taunting the artist to join Aran as the girl tugged at him to stand.

"Yes, Valo, twirl with Aran, fly with her!" The raven-haired half-breed flashed the boy a mischievous green glance. Kovac did not intend to put the shy young man on the spot, but he had found a fondness for the rather effeminate stranger, and his teasing was Kovac's dysfunctional way of showing it. Besides, it was far more fun than whatever task he had been sent to the Enclave to peform...which in fact, Kovac had already forgotten.
