Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Setting Out to Find Ones Future

1st of Fall, 512AV, Early Morning

The sun was only just cresting the horizon, like a man to reluctant to greet the day, and who would rather sleep lazily into the afternoon. Darkness still lingered in the streets of Riverfall, and those shadows which would soon be banished by the coming light, shifted about seeking refuge.

Faint whispers caught Dragul's ears as he passed the occasional shadow, but one took everything they heard with a measure of skepticism, especially when it came to the word of shadows. He was for the most part alone upon the streets, beside the occasional early riser and shop owner, thus the clip clop of his horse-which he had named Snowfall, due to the deep grey color of the horse in contrast to its white dapples, which looked like the horse had just been snowed upon-was all that he heard in his ears.

Within the saddle bags strapped to either side of the saddle was all of his worldly possessions-save for his armor, and his Lakan's which were hidden away in two secret scabbards. He stroked Snowfall's mane, and gently urged him onward. He took in the scenery that had made up the entirety of his youth one last time, as street after street was left behind him. There was no one to wave goodbye to, and the only person that would have warranted a goodbye, he had not seen for some years. However he had done something the day before, that he had only begun to do after the meeting he had with Akajia. He had prayed. It was strange, before that day he had never believed in anyone besides himself, since he never really had any friends. At first he hadn't know what to say, but after some thought he gave a proper prayer, or what he thought the Goddess of the Night would consider a proper prayer.

None the less he was slowly beginning a journey that had truthfully be set in motion by Akajia herself, since before her meeting he had little motivation to leave Riverfall, though he did have a desire. He wondered what future plans of Akajia's he would play a part in, and what secrets he would find along the way. Time would only tell he supposed. He also wondered what else awaited him in the frozen north of Taldera, and if his journey would be one of solitude-save for Snowfall.

Perhaps the most daunting endeavor that lay before him was the distance of the journey itself. There was a immense amount of miles laid out before him. He imagined that it would take him most of the season, if not a little longer to arrive in Avanthal. At first he had felt to daunted by the endeavor, and almost sought to forsake it, but the Goddess herself had hinted to things in the north, and whether a ruse or a manipulation on her part, he couldn't help but be intrigued, thus sealing his decision.

The horse even seemed eager for the journey, perhaps sensing something delightful in it. Perhaps the horse saw in the journey the opportunity to return to its frozen homeland of snow. Either way he doubted that the steed would lead him astray, Snowfall had always proven reliable, and loyal.

The scenery had continued to leave him behind, as he made his way out of the city. Looking once more behind him, at the city that he'd lived in his whole life, he felt a twinge of sadness, that was quickly lost amidst a rushing torrent of excitement. The north awaited him, in all its majesty and secrets. He wondered how much of his life from now on would be guided by his own hand, or that of his Goddess. Perhaps a question better contemplated for the time being he thought. With the way before him, he urged Snowfall into a steady pace, nothing to fast, there was much distance ahead of them, and it was never to early to gather secrets. He couldn't imagine that the roads would be bereft of them. A smile crooked onto his face.

The sun finally peeked over the horizon, deciding it would awake at last. With the rising of the sun came a new season to Riverfall, for all who inhabited it, but not Dragul, he was lost to the journey before him, and any shadow with whom he could find company. He hoped Akajia would guide him, as she seemed to be silently doing.

It would be a journey to remember.

Additional Notes :
Pretty simple thread. For for future reference, you might want to make your threads a bit more complicated before you submit them for grading: as you can see, you didn't get much in the way of XP or Lores.

But I see that this was mainly to set the tone and get Dragul in place, and it did its job well. Your imagery was very evocative, and I liked how you hinted and fleshed out his purpose at Akajia's behest. Interesting to see where that ends up...
