Every step within the corridors echoed for but a second. The methodical tread upon the polished stone floors never ceased as Crypt Insatem moved to and fro in the corridors that led to the rooms of the healers which had dressed his wounds in the middle of the night.
No one was awake but the Knights on duty, and they would not disturb him tonight.
Time's a-ticking, Crypt.
A step to the left, a step to the right. His whole life now was but an immense pendulum, oscillating unceasingly. A curious silence filled the air, broken only by his footsteps upon the cold. unyielding floors.
Time to go to bed, old boy. You'll get a cold-
Not now, silly rabbit. You will die, I swear by-
... And 'tis the wind and nothing more?
