The pain was what brought her back. A searing, stabbing pain raced all down Relea's left side as she slowly crept into consciousness. She grabbed her leg and applied pressure, attempting to relieve some of the agony to no avail. When she regained her vision, Relea took a look around. She was well outside the main communal center of Sunberth, and it was quickly fading to darkness.
Relea's breath quickened. What had happened? She couldn't remember how she had gotten out here, why she was hardly able to stand, and even worse, how she would get back. Anywhere in Mizahar it was dangerous to be outside alone at night. But in Sunberth, it may as well be suicide. Relea felt for her daggers, relieved to find that at least one thing was going her way. She would just have to stick to the shadows and hope to make it home.
After five minutes of contemplation, Relea attempted to stand. As soon as any weight was on her left leg, she crumpled back to the ground. Relea let out an agonized cry as she grasped her calf. If it wasn't broken, it was close. Crawling her way to a nearby log, Relea broke off a decent sized stick to lean her weight onto, and attempted once more to stand.
It was still an unbelievable amount of pain, almost enough to make her pass out all over again, but Relea managed to stand. It took her another five minutes to build the courage to attempt to take a step. Even holding the self made walking stick with her left hand hurt. Slowly, Relea scooted her good foot forward, and placing all weight on the walking stick, her broken one as well. It did not feel good by any means, but Relea was moving.
The feeling of acomplishment didn't last long however, because after getting a few steps behind her, Relea realized that there was no chance of her getting back to her apartment before sundown. She grimaced, and looked around. No source of shelter was available, and she was in no condition to fight. A sitting duck for anyone who wanted to rob or kill her.
With an exausted sigh, Relea leaned forward on her stick, praying to a god that she didn't believe in that the next thing to find her would be a human. Then, praying that, that human was not a murderous psycho. |

OOCI'm a nuit at this point in the season, though the switch only happened this season so its not official on my profile yet
Thundiirn was on his daily walk through the city slums when he stumbled across a rather unusual sight. It was a woman, clearly injured and fearful as to her current status. She seemed rather disoriented, as if she didn't know where she was or where she was going.
The cold wind brushed his cold skin, and he shivered out of habit. Or maybe it was a psychological response to the vulnerability in the woman. Who was he to say?
She looked in bad shape, like she was about to fall. He shrank the difference between them as quick as his stiff bones would allow, and held out a hand to steady her as best he could. Whether or not she would accept it was up to her. If she did, she would most likely notice the rather strange look and feel to his hand, and put together that he was an undead. Then it would be up to him to hope that she was okay with that, but he was not willing to leave someone out in the streets like this, even at risk to himself.
He cleared his throat, getting all the stale air that sat unused in his lungs, before pulling in a fresh batch to speak with. "Ma'am, are you alright?" he asked her with his dusty voice when he was within hearing distance. |

Relea's heart beat quickened as she lifted her head and saw a figure coming for her. She quickly straightened her posture, and put a hand around one of the daggers in her belt. By the time the man reached her, she was as convincing as she was going to get, though that still wasn't very good.
Instead of a drawn blade, or a sneer and snide comment, Relea was offered a hand by this stranger. Although a nice gesture, Relea would not so easily be fooled. She raised her eyes to meet his, then looked back at his outstretched hand. Gingerly, she took a step backwards.
"What, do you think I'm stupid?" Relea practically spat. She didn't ever get lucky, and she wasn't about to start she was sure. She pulled the dagger she was holding into subtle view. "[b]Look, if you really want to help, point me in the direction of town. I've been here long enough to know not to trust a stranger.[b]" Relea added, the venom in her voice not leaving.
Sure she secretly wanted this mans help, but there was no way it was genuine. Relea wasn't sure she would be able to make it back to town without help though, especially since she was unsure of how she had been caused so much damage. Sunberth had a way of making a person lose trust in the rest of humanity, of relying solely on oneself. Because you could never be sure, the nicest man in town could be a cold-blooded serial killer, and you would never know until his knife is on your throat.
Without waiting, Relea took a step in the opposite direction of the man she had just met, trying her best to keep the limp out of her step, and failing miserably. She had to admit to herself that she was broken, but she refused to let it sink in, not quite yet. |

Thundiirn's eyes widened with surprise. He realized that Sunberthians weren't trusted to the greatest extent, but he wasn't expecting a response quite so violent. Perhaps she was foreign, or was more disoriented than he had initially thought. Hands raised, the universal sign for unarmed and innocent, he took a step back. She was clearly afraid, and he didn't blame her. Sunberth's lawlessness gave everyone a reputation for being insane serial killers, nevermind the cost/benefit ratio of serial killing for the average citizen.
"I mean no harm, I just wanted to help..."
Now that he was closer to her, it appeared that something was wrong with her left side, he couldn't quite tell what though. She was clearly favoring her right, though, and before he approached he could see her clutching her left leg.
"Please, at least let me walk you home before someone less friendly and more malicious walks by." |

Relea's heart lightened at the mans offer for help, but her eyes did not. She still didn't trust him for a second, but at the very least he wasn't the worst thing that could happen. She turned back around to face him, her expression still stone cold.
"I don't trust you. Let that be known. The only reason I am even considering your help is because I cannot physically make it home my self."
After she was finished speaking, Relea took a a step forward, momentarily forgetting her injuries. A sharp pain raced up her left side, and she doubled over. She clutched her left hip bone, and fought back against the urge to puke. It was one of the harder things she'd done in a while, but she refused to show any more sign of weakness then she already had in front of this strange man.
"Don't look at me like I can't handle myself." Relea shouted behind her. She couldn't see for sure, but she could base his reaction off of what she would think.
After a moment of regaining her breath and balance, Relea stood up and took another, more careful step forward. The sooner she got home, the sooner she could figure out just what the hell had happened to her out there. |

"I don't trust you. Let that be known. The only reason I am even considering your help is because I cannot physically make it home my self."
She was feisty, that much was clear. She was also injured, and it seemed as far as Thundiirn was concerned rather stupid of her to be yelling at someone saving her like this. After all, he could easily just walk away and leave her to die, or perhaps survive but with much more difficulty. Now Thundiirn of course knew that he wasn't that type, but that was luck on her part.
She was certainly smart to not trust him. That was good. She'd likely live just fine here once she wasn't crippled. But she wasn't smart to fight his help. Not one bit.
"You don't trust me. That's good. But you need help, so let me help you. You can repay me however you see fit. Now, where are you trying to get to at the moment? We're on a street just north of mid-Stumble Alley."
She didn't speak for a bit, he assumed because she was in too much pain to talk. Apparently she was just ignoring him though or maybe, to put an optimistic spin, she was gathering her strength, because a moment later she shouted.
"Don't look at me like I can't handle myself."
Thundiirn didn't grace this with a reply, but merely rolled his eyes and hoped she was about to tell him where she lived so that he could be through with his good deed for the day. |
