Current Events

Spring has come to Sultros. Hostilities between the Pitrius Clan and the rest of the Kingdom over the Kingdom's stance on humans continues although it hasn't grown worse. Terras Clan is still slightly more open than Pitrius but those two clans still maintain an alliance and opposition toward open relations with humanity. Travel to Pitrius by non-Pitrius isur is still not advised as there is no guarantee of safety. Such travel is not restricted however. For Pitrius’ part, they continue scrutinize non-Pitrius isur entering their territory and those individuals coming into Pitrius territory are dealt with on a case by case basis. Nearly half of all non-Pitrius isur entering Pitrius territory have not been heard from since.

Terras is still a bit more lenient than Pitrius and travel to and from Terras’ territory is unrestricted. Great care is advised to non-Terras isur however as Sentinels of the Silver Tower have become a permanent fixture there even going so far as to establish a small facility referred to simply as, The Dome. It is a small black dome of obsidian constructed by Sentinels in hopes of gaining greater access to Terras isur who display magical talent.

While Terras and Pitrius maintain their presence on the Council, hostilities are high and still little to nothing is being accomplished as far as leadership is concerned on a Kingdom-wide scale. Lord Pitrius no longer attends Council meetings instead sending advisers to speak for him. It is seen as something of an insult to the other members, including Lady Terras.

The remaining clans of Sultros, Vizerian and Coglias have begun more detailed contact with non-isur visitors; security is still high but non-isur are being made to feel more comfortable when entering Citadels and Trading Posts. Attempts at contacting some of the more peaceful human nomadic tribes have resulted in fledgling trade relationships with human made goods beginning to trickle into the cities themselves.

Conflicts with the Zith continue to be quite troubling. Attacks on caravans and trading posts have increased over the course of Winter and continue to grow in Spring. It is rumored that the only thing keeping Pitrius Clan from completely shutting itself away from the rest of the Kingdom is the threat posed by the Zith. There are even whispers that the Council is considering a formal declaration of War against the Zith with a possibility of bring the Hammer down upon them in force with support from the Sentinels. It would be the first time the isur have engaged in any such military campaign in more years than any isur can remember even hearing about.

To follow is a calendar of events in Sultros. Events are listed for Spring 513 with more planned for Summer. Please feel free to use these events in your roleplay and if there are any special requests, questions, etc, please let me know. Reminder, the Winter Season ends March 1st, 2013.

Djed Winter of 513
Secret :
Winter 513 AV

Winter has fallen on Sultros. The fallout from the Djed Storm is still felt across the Kingdom. Pitrius and Terras clans have formed an oddly close alliance after attempts by the Council of Five failed in maintaining full unity among all of the clans. These two clans have opened up even closer relations involving trade and security with each other while increasing restrictions on similar relations with the other three clans. Izurdin’s Hammer forces have pulled out of Pitrius City/Citadel and have fallen back to secondary posts just outside of the clan’s borders. The Hammer still maintains a small presence in Terras City/Citadel however as Lady Terras still seems somewhat hesitant to cut ties to the rest of the Kingdom any further. Travel to Pitrius by non-Pitrius isur is not advised as there is no guarantee of safety. Such travel is not restricted however. For Pitrius’ part, they scrutinize non-Pitrius isur entering their territory even more so than before and will follow, question and possibly arrest, imprison and interrogate anyone who they find suspicious.

Terras is still a bit more lenient than Pitrius and travel to and from Terras’ territory is unrestricted. Great care is advised to non-Terras isur however as Sentinels of the Silver Tower have been sighted in Terras City/Citadel working as a supplementary security force.

While Terras and Pitrius maintain their presence on the Council, hostilities are high and little to nothing is being accomplished as far as leadership is concerned on a Kingdom-wide scale.

The remaining clans of Sultros, Vizerian and Coglias in turn have also grown closer in the fallout of Ivak’s return. The presence of King Sultros during the moment of Ivak’s return and his role in helping the human champion, Leo Varniak and his companions has brought a new wave of religious solidarity and hope to these clans. The three citadels have opened themselves to non-isur visitors; security is still extremely high however. Attempts at contacting some of the more peaceful human nomadic tribes have begun and offers of trade and security have been given.

There is also a growing threat from the hordes of Zith who have begun to infest the lands both inside and just outside the Kingdom. These Zith seem more organized than any encountered before and the danger to the various trading posts throughout the Kingdom have increased 10-fold. Organized Zith hunts are a common occurrence with Eysar as well as civilians being enlisted to travel further into the subterranean realm as well as the lands above ground to root out Zith colonies and exterminate them. These groups, known as Extermination Teams, have discovered a rather unsettling detail from the Zith they have killed. A growing number of them are displaying strange marks, perhaps divine in nature. These Zith have been surprisingly harder to kill due their odd ability to strike profound fear in the hearts of their prey.

With Winter comes the most deadly weather in all of Mizahar. The Unforgiving fills and surrounds the Kingdom’s collective territory. While travel throughout the tunnel network below ground is safe from the harsh conditions above ground, the killing cold, flesh-ripping winds and literal mountains of snow make travel above ground virtually impossible. Trading Posts have shutdown all but emergency trade caravans while bundling down until Spring. The Border Posts, while sitting in the foothills away from the brunt of the Winter, are faring far better though travel from the cities/citadels to those posts via above ground passes and trade routes has been shutdown.

Djed Storm of 512
Secret :
The Djed Storm of 512

The Djed Storm created in the wake of Ivak's release had no real effect on the cities, citadels, trading posts or border posts within the Kingdom. King Isengir Izurus Sultros, hero of the Valterrian and Savior of the Isur fulfilled a prophetic vision granted to him by Izurdin centuries ago. As part of this, Isengir decreed that upon the construction of all structures within the Kingdom, their builders would infuse them with Izentor and thus grant each and every building Izurdin's Gnosis Mark. When the storm struck Sultros, the marks upon the Citadels ignited with divine brilliance thus deflecting the storms wild energies. Isengir's return to the living realm was brief however his sacrifice to save a couple of humans from the newly birthed, Goddess of Fear, has changed some of the landscape as far as the isurian outlook on humanity is concerned. Many isur received a vision in the hours before the storm where they witnessed Ivak's release and the events involved. Some however received a somewhat different vision depicting the humans bringing about the death of Isengir at the hands of the Goddess of Fear. These conflicting visions have started some amount of conflict among the clans. Lord Pitrius and Lady Terras received the negative vision as did many others. These individuals have begun voicing their dissent to any who would listen.

On the Council of Five, Lord Pitrius and Lady Terras have voiced strong opposition to King Sultros, Lord Coglias and Lord Vizerian. The latter three have agreed that isur would work more diligently at improving relations with local human nomadic tribes. Pitrius and Terras have refused such efforts and have made it clear that their clans will not formally participate in such activities.

The Zith attack on the Kingdom immediately after the Storm hit has caused a great amount of fear among the Kingdom's citizens. The presence of Zith throughout the Kingdom has increased by untold numbers and the threat to trade caravans is severe. There are small yet random attacks in the cities as well as upon trading posts. The Citadels and Border Posts have had their defenses increased thus Zith attacks there are quite rare. An unusual uneasy feeling hangs in the air throughout the Kingdom with increased guard patrols in the cities and guard escorts accompanying groups of individuals traveling from city to city. Izurdin's Hammer has stepped-up escorts of trading caravans as well.

Humans are generally welcomed in the Sultros, Vizerian and Coglias Citadels though the cities are still off limits to them. Reception to human visitors still varies with a mix of caution, optimism, welcome and fear. Human travelers within the Kingdom can expect somewhat increased amounts of courtesy and protection from the trading posts and border posts although humans entering territory claimed by Clans Pitrius and Terras can expect hostility, violence, imprisonment and death.

While the Djed Storm did not harm the people or structures in the Kingdom, the land was indeed affected. Pockets of pooled wild Djed are now scattered throughout the Kingdom, spawning all manner of dangerous threats to travelers as well as the trading and border posts. The exact scope of the threats has yet to be fully realized.
