DESCRIPTION:

If one decides to enter the White Isle, they will be transported by a small, flat boat painted in white and blue, carrying only few visitors. Most people visiting Mura do so because of the huge library and the knowledge of the resident healers. Therefore, it is no surprise that the boat lands at an organized, neat harbor.

Arrival and departure of trade ships and the white and blue boats shaped like different animals of the sea or air, a specialty of Mura, are filed by the harbor's director residing at a beautiful house also functioning as common gate to the city itself. The front of two floors is painted with the most famous sailor's tales in pastels of blue, green and pink. A paved path leads to the double doors made of white wood framed by two statues of Laviku several feet high. The director and his resident officials care for organization and transfer of wares, but also ensure that visitors can safely enter the White Isle and the city of Mura. A young and pretty clerk with chin-long pale blond hair and sea-green eyes greets every visitor with a welcoming smile. “Hello and welcome to Mura! What is it that you need?”

After their arrival has been reported and eventual other issues sorted out, they will be free to leave the harbor through an ornamented gateway behind the house and continue visiting the actual city. Bigger caravans with wagons are guided to a secluded, but large gateway at the south edge of the harbor.

Additionally to her job as clerk she is eager to learn as much as possible—to make her dream of being captain of the ‘Swan’ come true one day. Since she can foretell the weather she believes that her chances are quite good. At her free hours she can be seen roaming the docks, talking to sailors and helping wherever she can. She is the good soul of the harbor and everyone knows and likes her. However, it is an open secret that she doesn’t get along well with her elder sister Merit who is the owner of Waterfall Fabrics.

Arriving to Mura

Postby katarina on March 24th, 2013, 4:07 pm

Katarina peered around her eerily cat shaped eyes missing nothing as they darted across the land beyond looking for potential threats. She came up with nothing. That didn’t mean there weren’t any just that she couldn’t pick them up until she was docked. She sat in a strange sort of boat. It was shaped like an alligator, long teeth and all. When she first stepped into It she had been on edge like the animal was going to turn and rip her to shreds, but as the long journey to Mura took flight she slowly let her guard down, unless the sailor or the young woman in the corner were going to attack her which was unlikely considering the sailor looked like he’d have trouble lifting up a paddle and the woman was rocking back and forth her hands shaking. She figured she was safe. Now she was almost to land and her survival instincts were in full gear. She had never been to Mura before, but her mother told her stories of her kind living together in peace. Her mom told her they were all very talented painters, singers you name it they were good at it. Now as she wandered the world searching for….well she didn’t know quite yet, she decided that she should meet some more of her race. So here she was staring out at the beautiful landscape. Chimes later the boat was sliding into the dock and ropes were being thrown and tied and greetings called out. Before the boat was fully tied down, Katarina was on land her legs quivering with relief at being on solid ground again. She wasn’t that fond of water. Now that she was reacquainted with something she was comfortable with she padded onto the dock and pulled 1gm out of her pocket throwing it to the sailor who had introduced himself as Braun or Brown or something along those lines. She thanked him for allowing her to come to this beautiful place before jogging down a path that brought her to a pair of swinging white doors. With one last look around, including a curious look at the strange statue, she slipped inside. As her eyes adjusted to the dimer light she her ears and nose were already working looking for threats that her eyes may not have picked up. She smelled human and her head swiveled to the desk at the side of the room where a young woman perched watching her curiously. She was pretty with blond hair and sea green eyes. Kat didn’t see her as a threat, but she still approached carefully. When she was almost touching the desk, the blond who introduced herself as Multi spoke. “Hello and welcome to Mura! What is it that you need?” Kat didn’t know how to answer this, but she decided on the truth remembering her mom telling her that if you had to lie, then tell the truth for the rest so the lie was harder to catch. “I am hoping to find what I am looking for in this lovely place. I will not need anything for I am staying with my Aunt.” The woman asked only her basic information before letting her go.

White Isle Harbor (Arriving PC's Post Here!)

White Isle Harbour... It had been a while. How many years had it been this time? She did not know, nor did she care. She knew that it was more than likely that there would be new sights to see, and new smells to smell - after all, it was summer. There would be traders, outlanders, and simple travellers looking to expand the mind journeying here. She felt drawn to observe them, to watch and learn their movements before retreating back to the land where her heart lay.
The sea air filled her nostrils, and she breathed deep of it, as though the salt from the sea was purifying her lungs. Too long... It had been too long indeed. She stepped forwards, and into the nearby light of a torch. Her frame was small, delicate perhaps, and her hair hung from her head like knotted ropes of platinum.
"Yes..." Trelania said to herself, in fluid Kotinese. "I am here once again..."
She pulled her cloak about her body a little more, and then proceeded to head into the port. Perhaps she would find a doorway to lurk in for the eve, yet she knew she would rise early - Tomorrow Trelania intended to watch the city awaken, and for once, she intended to walk among the culture she once belonged to. Perhaps she would even stay a few days this time..

White Isle Harbor (Arriving PC's Post Here!)

Postby Neive on April 12th, 2015, 3:50 pm

Timestamp: 40th Day of Spring, 515 AV

~ ' The Long Awaited Return ' ~

The sloshing of waves as they gently lapped up against the painted white and blue flat-boat, the salt taste of the sea-spray on her lips and the slight bobbing motion of the vessel plastered a broad grin across Neiva's delicate features. It was the first taste of Home she had experienced since the day they took her, over 12 years ago. Opening her slightly-almond-shaped eyes, her eager violet gaze finally fell upon the shores of Mura.

Tall glistening, white buildings were visible as the boat approached Mura's orderly harbor. Barely containing her eagerness to reach Home, Neiva had to restrain herself from launching head first into the sea and swimming to shore! Yet, it did not take long for the boat to gently dock into the harbor. Waiting for the other passengers to disembark first, Neiva kept her head low, keeping her scarred wrists out of sight the best she could and followed close behind. Adorned in nothing but worn and holey rags and bare feet, she would surely be a sight.

The paved path beneath her dirtied feet felt smooth and warm, the Spring sun beaming through thick, fluffy clouds above. Her eyes grew wide as they found the magnificent sights of the two statues of the God Laviku framing the white wood double doors of the Harbor Director's House. Though of course Neiva had no idea what the building was used for, nor who it belonged to. The beauty and elegance of the architecture of the building however had her in complete awe.

Soon, however that awe shriveled into an uncomfortable, tight feeling, as the hustle and bustle of the crowds and the noise of the harbor terrified Neiva, causing her to shrink in closer behind the passengers she followed to the Gates that would allow them entry into Mura.

Waiting patiently in line as they were greeted and admitted entry individually by a very smiley, young clerk with beaming sea-green eyes, Neiva's own darted warily to everything moving around her. A constant nagging feeling of unease and fear tugged at her chest, a knot constricting in her stomach. It felt wrong for her to be out in the open like this, she felt like it was all still a dream, that they would find her, punish her for running away. Yet she knew that this was her true home, that this was right for her to be free.

Quickly the line moved and it was her turn to be greeted, not with a scowl or a beating as she was so used to, but with a friendly smile and goodwill, "Hello and welcome to Mura! What is it that you need?" Neiva could hardly suppress the lilting giggle that escaped her cracked lips, she was glad the woman used the common tongue, for her Kontinese was a tad rusty. Her voice croaky from dehydration, her eye's brimmed with tears of overwhelming joy, Neiva smiled, "Nothing, nothing at all. I'm home. I'm finally home!"

As she was gestured to move on through, with a polite smile, Neiva beamed with a broad grin and with a new found spring in her step (despite being exhausted and starving) rushed through the ornamented gateway into Mura.

White Isle Harbor (Arriving PC's Post Here!)

Postby Visi on July 16th, 2016, 2:55 pm

¤ 15 Summer 515AV

Konti Isle. Everyone has heard stories of it, though not many from where Visi is from has gotten to experience it. Even from as far out as she was on the boat she could see that Avanthal and Konti Isle were bound to be vastly different. A few of the houses stood out over the treetops and she could see a large array of colors and styles. It was beautiful. The shimmering blue waters, the shark shaped boat she was on, the buildings, and the house she was approaching. The statues of Laviku, a god she didn't know the name of, stood proudly outside the entrance.

"Who is that?"
She inquired of the Akalak rowing the boat.

"Laviku, god of the sea. You would do well to get acquainted."

Finally they arrived and got down to business with the desk clerk. She was the last in line of a gaggle of five. When it was her turn things were over and done with rather quickly. At last she and her husband were allowed entrance into the city, hand in hand they entered it together.
