Appearance: Kaska stands at just under six feet in height, though any impression made by this is swiftly taken away by how skinny he is. Due to frequent bouts with malnutrition as a child, his eyes are sunken. His long red hair is often tangled into mats and snarls. At his worst, the mass of hair is afflicted with lice and ticks. At best, it is a quite beautiful mane but his opportunities to take care of it are few and far between. His skin is pale and more coated with dirt than not from being on the road, his fingers deft and skinny as befits a pickpocket or pianist. Indeed his long fingers have come of use in times of desperation. Scars network around his hips and thighs, and his feet have thick callouses from being without shoes for so long. His bright gold eyes are his most defining feature, flecked with amber and quite often having a nasty light in them.
Character Concept Kaska is a rude, crude uneducated beast, and he prefers it that way. He is a survivor first and foremost, like a cockroach he finds himself in the worst situations but manages to squeeze out of them. He is resourceful, driven by the constant biological need to eat and live by any means necessary. Being from foundling stock, he may not be educated in the strict sense but his knowledge of street smarts is beyond compare. He finds manners a complete waste of time but can be charming if it becomes readily apparent that he will gain something substantial from it.
However, on the inside Kaska is a bruised and wounded creature. He puts up a massively nasty front to keep the small bits of his true nature safe from harm.
Character History Kaska is a foundling, abandoned at a very young age by parents he barely remembers. Quite normally a toddler wandering city streets would have died very early on in life, and indeed Kaska wandered for three days before being discovered by a man named Enoch. A pickpocket by trade, Enoch realized he had a very valuable commodity in a child with bright red hair and gold eyes. He established trust with Kaska the same way one establishes trust with a dog; he fed him and kept him safe in an alleyway deep in the city. Kaska soon learned not to wander outside of Enoch's protection, and began to grow under the thief's tutelage. Kaska's long standing hatred began to evolve the longer he stayed within Sunberth, witnessing countless riots the moment a lord tightened his hold over a section of the city. But in chaos, Enoch taught, there was opportunity.
Unfortunately, Enoch was not the kind sort of soul that would allow Kaska to stay in his home without pay. He began a new sort of instruction by sitting Kaska amongst streetwalkers and prostitutes until eventually clients began to associate him as one of them. It was quite the easy association, as the troubles in Sunberth made for the displeasing trade to flourish amongst former miners' wives. It was frightening, scarring work but Kaska soon realized that Enoch was going to boot him into the streets to die if he did not help to bring food to the table. So for ten long years from a very illegal age up until the age of a young teenager Kaska worked as a catamite. Bouts with disease and injury made him well known to the local clinic (if he could afford to go), and Kaska's client base began to expand to more rich clientele. The doctors would ensure that he was safe and disease free, and they would get the same cut that Enoch did from Kaska's earnings.
A large break came for Kaska when a rich merchant visiting the half-ruined city from Zeltiva requested Kaska's services as an escort. After the deed was done, the fool fell asleep and mistakenly allowed Kaska to roam the ship's office. Kaska found a large two handed mace with a heavy demon-shaped head. It had a thick ironwood haft with relatively few scars, with two distinct sides to the artistic lump of iron on its end. The back of the demon's head was smooth, while the front boasted two short, sharp horns with a third sprouting from the demon's mouth. Kaska strapped the weapon to his back and slipped away from the ship, securing himself the only valuable possession he has ever had.
The mace proved to be more of a burden than anything, and Kaska relied upon intimidation to keep people from stealing his things. The head was too heavy for him to lift half the time, and the haft was awkward in his skinny fingers. Trouble came when he showed Enoch the weapon, and the thief immediately suggested they sell it. Kaska disagreed, and the two parted ways. Kaska sought revenge, and sold the tiny property Enoch owned. He pocketed the money for himself, forever burning the bridge between himself and his former tutor.
Kaska has ever since been roaming the area around Sunberth and the roads stretching beyond, taking clients coming into the city or asking for passage on trade routes leading to other places. He goes wherever there is the least trouble and the most food, though his crass attitude has landed him in trouble more often than his occupation.

Heirloom: A two handed mace. The haft of the mace is thick black ironwood and stretches about three and a half feet long. It is curved to help support the weight of the large steel head on its end, and has leather crudely wrapped around sections of its length to aid in grip. The head is heavy and steel, fashioned into the shape of a grinning face. Two short horns sprout from this figure's forehead, while a third spike emerges from its mouth. The backside of the mace is smooth, giving the user both crushing power and piercing.
