7th - 59th of Spring, 513AV Several fireplaces had been set up on the beach just north of Syliras, between the wall and the outpost. They dotted the beach, varying in size but always guaranteed to have a collection of seemingly random items around them. Instruments, nets, line, anything else that you would expect to find in the possession of a beach seafarer. However, most common of all were the weapons, both real steel and wooden practice replicas. Cutlasses, short swords, bows and arrows, all sorts of small and medium sized arms were strewn about the place. On the shore, about a dozen casinors had been beached, their hulls resting in the shallow sandy waters and close so that anything not already out and set up could be easily accessed. Slightly farther out to sea, some palivars were anchored in a line parallel to the sand, a small line of ships with the sails up but easily let down at a moment's notice, and the lines were tight and ready to use. As soon as the word was given, they could be sailing within a chime or two. The owners of the vessels were mostly on the beach around the campfires, doing what Svefra normally do. They were singing songs and dancing lively, enjoying their time of being together as a family. The young listened to the old tell stories, and drinks were passed around aplenty. Underneath it all was an uneasy tension though, for they were not here purely for the sake of recreation. More men and women than usual for an event like this were up and about, sparring with their weapons and practicing their skills, keeping them consistent and training them to push a little farther. While there were smiles, they seemed small and uneasy when compared to the normally light-hearted jovial mood of Laviku's blue-eyed children. Even the drunks, who in most cases would be singing loudly and obnoxiously, were quiet and solemn in their stupor. While to outward appearances it might have seemed like a social, those who knew the Svefra well would notice the unease pass over their faces, the frowns of thought that passed over their faces at the mention of a name, the uncharacteristic concentration of a traditionally free and loose people. They would know the truth. This was not a gathering of festivity. This was a gathering of war. Signups - Please read before posting :
Hey all! For those of you who've seen the notice board and followed the link, you've come to the right place. If not, this is the IC thread where your character can join the quest in the Suvan Sea, scheduled for the 63rd of Spring, to hunt down the pirate blasphemer Braten. There are absolutely no requirements to join, though that said you should at least have an interest in fighting if you don't know how to already, and it is open to people of all races and walks of life. If you don't know how to fight, but know some medicine or have the Healing gnosis then you're just as if not even more welcome, as the Svefra do predict casualties for this attack.
You can join any date up to the 59th, which is when word of Braten's location is received and the attack group heads out. While you're here you're free to train with the NPCs or each other, perform any social threads you may like, or maybe even pick up some new skills from the other people who gather here. It is important to note however that because the Svefra don't know when word will arrive, from the time your character joins the gathering IC to the time the Svefra receive the message you will be expected to be there in case it happens suddenly (which it will), so if you have anything you want to do in Syliras for early Spring then you should do that first before you join this thread. After the quest is over, you will be given transport to wherever you want free of charge as thanks (maybe a bit on the side as well), so that means you'll still be able to make it for the Kalea regional quest if you're up for that too. For those who want to join, go ahead and make a post IC where you just sidle up and announce yourself and I will get to you ASAP. If you have anything in particular you want to do like training or learning something new then make an OOC note and I will make sure that you get to do it. No camping or sailing experience required to make it here as everything will be provided for by the Svefra you're so generously helping. Consider it a payment up front. Any questions feel free to PM. That's it questers, have fun and happy writing! |
