Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 27 Birthday: Spring, 28, year 486 Birthplace: Syliras Occupation: Trader, aspiring diplomatic mercenary (envoy, diplomat, negotiator for hire)
Appearance: A young man with features that are considered handsome by most human standards. Ronan has a well kept body, physically fit through both martial training and... other training. Hidden underneath his clothes, Ronan carries multiple scars that he got while he was little. He has a sharp mind and keen blue eyes that scan any situation in order to find a way to turn it in his favor. He has raven black hair that flows down his shoulders and halfway down his back when let loose. It is usually kept neat and tidy in a ponytail. Ronan is of average height and weight.
Character Concept
A boy from an abusive family shapes himself to become the richest man alive.
With a sharp mind for business, Ronan knows how to seal the deal while keeping profits for himself. He is not afraid to negotiate aggressively to get what he wants and is often seen as an aggressive and overpowering man. In order to get where he wants to go, Ronan has hidden his true feelings deep below layers of mental armor that protect him from everything. He is unable to truly trust people or make friends and is, thus, always alone, which he prefers.
Ronan loves to trade, negotiate deals, travel, meet beautiful women, see the world, be outdoors, parties, galas, social events and above all he loves to make more money than he has to spend.
Ronan dislikes backstabbers (not that he shows his back to anyone), men who push themselves on women, disrespect towards women, unrealistic trade partners, mindless violence, abusive parents, snow...
Character History
Ronan Dugal is the son of an abusive father and a drunk mother who didn't want him. With these settings, Ronan has grown up as a wild and mistrusting child in Syliras, often being beaten by his father, trying to get help from his mother who did her best to ignore his cries of pain with more alcohol. With such a dysfunctional family, Ronan did two things he could. First, he lost all trust in everyone and secondly, he ran away from home.
From the start, Ronan knew that he wasn't meant for street life. Instead of pickpocketing merchants and people on the market, like the other kids, Ronan went from shop to shop, asking for work or something he could do. Usually he got nothing but sometimes he was told to send a message here or deliver a package there. He helped out with stocking crates or moving garbage for store owners. He was paid little, sometimes only a single CM for a whole days work. But he kept himself from having to live on the wrong side of the law.
After a while, Ronan knew which stores paid better for work and which stores had more work available than others. He also knew which stores and streets to avoid entirely, as the people there only took advantage of him or even reacted aggressively towards his requests. Slowly but surely, Ronan started to earn money, little by little, adding a few CMs a day to his treasure chest (which wasn't more than a well hidden patch of cloth).
After a few years, Ronan managed to buy his first batch of goods, buying them from a merchant outside of town, who wasn't allowed access into the city, and got them inside, bypassing the guards because of his regular appearance around and through the gate. They knew he was one of the local boys and didn't think twice about stopping him. Once inside, Ronan sold the goods for a profit, a meager one but a profit at least. He made several trips over the week after having made a deal with the merchant, buying his goods at a lower price and selling them at a normal price in town, both feeding his own pockets and those of the merchant outside.
From there, Ronan's life went upwards. He bought himself a room in a seedy inn in the dark side of town, barely enough space for the bed and chair in it and worked from there. He often negotiated with people outside of the city, who were denied access for different reasons and got the goods inside, making his first (very small) fortune through trading. As his list of clients increased, so did his lack of free time, but Ronan didn't mind. At the end of the day, he counted his money and more often than not he saw the income he had generated.
Through his dealings with different merchants from different places in the world, Ronan learned more about the cities that were spread out across the known world and what kind of goods they made and what kind of goods they needed. He increased his knowledge of the world simply through interaction with others, listening and observing them while negotiating prices.
With bigger plans in mind than just the trafficking of goods past the city gates, Ronan set himself up with a wagon and a horse to pull it, bought a batch of goods that he knew would fetch a better price in other cities and set out. What started with a stubborn idea of a boy was about to turn into a big trade adventure of a man with big plans for the future.

Heirloom: A simple wooden stamp on a chain around his neck. The stamp has the official seal of Ronan's trading company on it and is the only one in existence at the moment. It is used to stamp green wax to add Ronan's seal to a document or to seal off an envelope. It is known by a few more regular trade partners of Ronan Dugal in Syliras, of which only one or two might be in or visit Avanthal. Outside of these select few people, the seal is unknown and has no diplomatic or economic value, yet.
The stamp on the seal is what makes it worth so much. It was crafted by hand by one of the masters of the trade in Syliras and the stamp is of unrivaled detail and quality. It depicts a young boy in the middle with to his left (right on the wax) a gold miza and to his right (left on the wax) a stack of crates. The boy has one arm out to each side, embracing both the coin and the crates. Ronan had this designed to remind him of the hard work he has done for each and every single miza he had earned so far.
