72nd Day of Spring, 513 AV

Orion used to hate these events. Everyone dressed all prim and posh, arrogance dripping with every word they spoke. All these people cared about was lining their pockets with more coin, gaining more power and more influence, and giving up as little as they could to do so. With age and with experience, however, he'd began to understand the truth of the matter. Young naivety gave way to a wisdom which said everyone just wanted to improve their lot in life. These were the top of the city, at least in a non-knight aspect. Orion didn't doubt that there were a few knights here rubbing shoulders and playing the game of politics, but generally these were the well off. The successful merchants. Those who'd received a nice inheritance. The rich.

As much as he hated to admit it at times, he could fit in here as well as he wanted to do so. He was never wanting for coin, boasting several thousand in his coffers. He didn't live as luxurious as the majority of those here, but that was by choice. He'd always lived at the Traveler's Row, ready to run from the city given the chance and the right motivation. Yet, things changed. He was in employ of the knights, learning of the blade and shield. For one evening, however, he was on his own. After meeting and, more importantly, rescuing Mr. Leo Valini, the grey haired man requested Orion work an event for him in a less than official manner. They would be coin involved in it, to be paid on satisfactory completion of the event. He needed to be incognito, though, so the full plate had to go.

"Wear something nice. Expensive. Luxurious. If it's something that costs a lot or is considered rare, no one will bat an eye at you." His explanation was straight forward. Fortunately he'd purchased a rather suave silk suit on the day of the Spring Festival. Orion had raised his concerns about being armed, but Leo had reassured it would be fine. "If you have a sword strapped at your side, it'll be assumed you're a personal guard. No armor, but an unobtrusive weapon will be fine. Keep the great sword at home, huh?"

Mr. Valini had hired Orion as a guard, at least that was the cover. Keep the riff-raff out. But more importantly, there was a specific man he was supposed to keep an eye on. Kale Belmonte. Mr. Belmonte had been described as nothing more than a thief, a swindler, and a thug. Leo was concerned that Kale was going to do something to sabotage a meeting he was to have with a business partner at their little gala, and Orion was to do his part to make sure that didn't happen. By any means necessary. "Withing the law of course, Mr. Michaels."

To hide that he was there solely for work, Valini gave Orion permission to bring along a guest. "Pretty ladies are always welcome, Mr. Michaels." It sounded more like a requirement than a suggestion, and while Orion had a few gorgeous ladies in his life, a certain blonde seemed agreeable to the idea. Kyra had the clothing appropriate for this sort of gathering, and that made it all the easier.

Orion waited just outside the entrance to the ball room, dressed in a slick and silk black suit. The threads were so expensive, but oh so worth it. Comfortable, if absurdly expensive for clothing. At his side was his blade; something he hoped would remain in its place. In his hands was the squire's letter of invitation with a plus one. All he needed was his date, the lovely Kyra. They'd agreed to meet at the locale, so wait he would. Orion was plenty early. He needed to be one of the early guests, after all. He didn't know what to expect from the evening, but it was going to be a chance to begin to develop a reputation with the upper class of Syliras. He didn't know if he wanted that or not yet, but he'd learn soon enough.

It had been seasons since Kyra was dressed in anything fancy, and even longer since she was in the presences of the rich. Living in the city on the lake, the girl was brought up amongst the rich in the city and all it's manners and life styles. It had only been for a year, but in her young mind it seemed so much longer, and those days long gone seemed like only days ago. However she was no longer in Ravok, she was now in Syliras and dealing with a different string of richness and politics. There was no comparison though, the politics of Ravok had been a complete mystery to her and something that she didn't come to understand until after she was forced to leave, then returned with a man who furthered her weak knowlegde just a bit.

She missed it, but it wasn't the life style so much as it was the love of her mother and their butler that she missed. Still, this wasn't about her returning to the circle of the wealthy, Kyra had no money and little interest of knowing any of the people she was going to visit. This was merely a job to her, she had been hired to attend a Spring Ball in the Illythian District. Her job was simple enough, learn the identity of the unranked Knight that Mr. Leo Valini was looking to see rise in rank, and if it wasn't the name of the unranked Knight that she had been told about, the girl was to slip a letter into his possessions that would tarnish his name and make him unfit to be trusted by not only the Knights, but those amongst their group also.

It was a dangerous game that the young kelvic was playing into, but she was yet to learn just how dangerous. The job reminded her in a small way of a mission that she had been given by the Ebonstryfe a few seasons back. The mission hadn't been that dangerous however and she had remained undetected throughout her work. There was also the fact that her contact had told her that they would also be attending the ball, but that they were not to be seen speaking to each other. It was all strange to her, but she had learned that this was the way of humans and just did what was needed to achieve her goals.

It was assumed that she would be entering the ball alone, but it wasn't expected to cause suspicion. As her client had stated, it was likely that she could gain a few escorts at the front door alone. However she didn't have to wait even that length of time. The doctor turned squire, Orion Micheals asked Kyra if she would be his date for the ball. She didn't think too much about the odds of them both going to the same ball as she really didn't know much about the man. She agreed to go with him, but keeping to the agreement that she had made, she couldn't tell him that she was already going and had her own reasons for excepting his offer.

Time wasn't something that she cared much about and only adhered to the request when she was asked to meet others at certain points and times. It was said that the rich arrived fashionably late to such events, but Kyra had been told to go early so that she would have time to settle in and find her mark, before he was swept away in his own party. As lovely as the young kelvic was on her own, her client wanted to make sure that she had the eyes and ears of everyone in the ballroom. They teased her hair, fluffed out the fullness, and curled her blondish locks. A hint of makeup was added around her already striking eyes to make them stand out even more. A bit of blush was added to her pale cheeks and ruddy lipstick upon her lips, all in favor of making her look older than a teenager.

The thin dress she wore was made of fine, black silk and coursed along her feminine curves daintily. The collar of the dress settled just below her neck, sleeveless gave sight to her slender arms and her legs were visible from the slits in the dress on either side that rose up her thighs. Kyra arrived shortly after her client which made it easier not to look at them and headed towards the door. There she saw Orion waiting for her, and the man was dressed for the occasion as they all were. She smiled to him, walking up and offering him her hand. "Well Hello Orion, I do like your clothing. You fit in very well."

Orion's heart nearly jumped into his throat when the little blonde vixen came walking up to him. My gods... The squire was forced to turn his away a moment to hide the rosy tinge to his cheeks, though he quickly gathered himself back together and again looked at Kyra. Clinging silks, accenting every single feminine curve she could boast. "Wow. I can see where all the focus is going to be tonight. Looking good, ma'am."

In truth, Orion was actually surprised she'd agreed to come with him. He didn't really go to these events, after all, so asking for a date to accompany him was troublesome at best. They had a little bit of a history together, and after they made it through an encounter at the Spinning Coin he'd come to feel a little more comfortable with her. There were others he could have asked, but he felt like that would have made presumptions on their relationship, and that wasn't something he wanted to play with. No way to avoid getting burned on that one. He figured, if his read on the girl was right, that Kyra would join him on curiosity alone if he invited her, and much relief was had when she agreed. He wasn't about to show up to a fancy gala alone, after all.

"Thanks. I'd agree, I do look quite dapper, do I not?" He grinned, and took her hand, bowing elegantly before placing a soft kiss on it. "Glad you could make it, Kyra." After standing back up, he offered her his arm to link with. "Shall we? This seems like it will be a much more enjoyable event than fighting crazy multi-armed woman, I must say."

[i]Though I doubt I'll be seeing any purple...[i] He smirked, thinking back briefly on that encounter. An unexpected exposure in the ring. Milky white legs and deep purple fabrics. But now wasn't the time for those thoughts.

He walked with Kyra up to the entrance and offered the letter to the men guarding the entrance. "I trust everything is in order?" The man took the letter from him and stared down the former doctor and the lithe framed blond for a moment before speaking. "Orion Micheals and guest. Welcome, and do enjoy yourselves."

With that the heavy wooden doors were opened and the two were permitted entrance. Orion took a deep breath, looked over at Kyra, and nodded. "Here's to a good time." With Kyra on his arm, they stepped inside.

Kyra smiled and nodded to Orion. "You look very handsome, I believe you will be the bow of the ball." The doctor did clean up well, she thought. His image now was very different from the one that she had saw before in the Soothing Waters. He looked like he belonged amongst the group but there was also a wildness in his eyes that spoke of an untamed soul, much like her own. The girl glanced around them for a bit, finding herself in an unfamiliar area. It was good that she was able to find it as soon as she did after thinking that her days of wandering were over.

Learning that the doctor was now a squire had also been a bit of a surprise. It seemed the man liked to change jobs a lot and was always in the most interesting places. Kyra hadn't been enthusiast about the news, given what she had heard about the order, but Orion had never given her a reason to think ill of him. The young kelvic glanced down as the man lifted her hand and gently kissed it. "I was surprised when you asked me to come here with you. I didn't know that you had so many friends around the city. Do you know all of them?"

Linking arms with his, she glanced up into his eyes and cocking her own eyebrow at the mention of the four-armed warrior. "Are you trying to make a joke? That woman was insane Orion, she almost killed us both." Something had happened to the girl since her last visit to Ravok and her return to Syliras. Kyra had grown tired of the fighting and violence. Perhaps it had been because of the people that she had spent time with, those that rather drink and be merry, than cause chaos and blood shed. Or maybe she had come to understand what Marcelo had tried to teach her, that she could be happy again.

Kyra tilted her head at the odd smirk that rose on the man's features. It was strange and she couldn't imagine that he felt so jovial about a near death experience. "I should tell you now that if she is here, I will not be staying."

She followed him then, as he led her to the door, where a man stood to collect their invites. Kyra had also been given a letter of invite from her employer, but apparently Orion's invite allowed her to enter as well, so she didn't bother to mention it. After the man opened the door for them, Kyra stepped inside with her companion and nodded to him after he spoke. "And a good time for all." They hadn't gotten far in yet and all ready they were met with a wondrous sight. Tall staircases on either side of a deep circular wall with a small table and chairs sitting just beneath.

Long royal curtains were hug from each of the four windows to either side. The ceiling looked black, but upon a closer look one could see that the actual ceiling had been removed and a glass top had been added to allow Syn's light to shine upon them during the day. It was easy to see that no expense were spared when the place was built and they were likely to find even more rich designs further in. Still linked with Orion, Kyra continued to look around as they slowly walked the carpet. "This place is very pretty..and big, do you come to these parties much?"

"I hardly think so. There's bound to be a gentleman or two more handsome than I. Not that I won't be near the top," he remarked, chuckling softly. It was certainly different to see her like this. While she was dressed provocatively, for Syliras at least, in their last encounter, she'd managed to find a way to make herself turn even more heads. The focus wouldn't be on him, that was certain enough. And honestly, for what he was there for, he was perfectly fine with that. "But don't pretend like you're humble. Quite the looker. I'm afraid I'll have to deal with more jealous looks than passes from beautiful rich women."

He shook his head as she inquired about all the 'friends' he had at this party. Other than Mr. Valini and his mark, he probably couldn't have named a single soul at the event. Some would be familiar faces. It was hard to avoid meeting them, what with his lifestyle and former profession, but he'd hardly call them anything more than acquaintances. "Why surprised? Did you think me below events like this? Or perhaps yourself above me?" That's a tantalizing thought... He grinned, nudging the blond gently. "I have the hardest time staying in the good graces of a lady, it seems, and you at least don't hate me, so naturally you were a candidate." He'd had to play his cards right to not lose contact with a woman after..initiating contact with one, and currently that didn't seem to be going the greatest. "Regarding friends, I might know one or two, but mostly I've met them in passing, nothing more."

"Jokes? Me?" Orion's faced scrunched up into a confused look, fake as it may be. "Never. Haven't you gathered that I'm entirely serious all of the time?" Kyra had the right of it, though. She'd been forced into what may have turned into an illegal death match if Orion hadn't intervened and escorted her from the locale. Not that the acrobatic woman couldn't have defended herself, but it wasn't something worth finding out. "My forearm hurts just thinking about those axes," he agreed. "She was insane. But hey, it led to our reunion, so it can't be all that bad, right? I promise you, though, she's not the type to attend this sort of event. Would you call her posh or sophisticated? I can think of a few words, and those certainly aren't on the list."

"Wow. What a dump," he deadpanned, awed by the scene before them. Knowing how poorly many of the city lived, especially when compared to this, poked at him slightly, but what could be done? Orion knew that these men and women did what they could to earn their wealth. Each had their lot in life. Orion's was well off, both from his youth and his skills. What did they owe anyone else? "I went to a few when I was younger. Been many seasons, though. How about you? Looks like you fit right in."

As they walked deeper into the surprisingly massive hall, the sound of music began to tease their ears. A full array of stringed instruments were in performance as bows stroked the strings of cellos, violins, and more. "You play any instruments, Miss Kyra? I'm ashamed to admit I cannot. Never tried, now that I think of it." Orion claimed a glass of wine from a passing server, swirling the container before taking a drink. "I'd love to come to more of these galas if this is the stuff they're serving."

It wasn't terribly busy yet, as fashionably late was on time, it seemed. Still, there were people mulling about, deep in conversation about who was doing what, how business transactions had gone, everything in the end being nothing but high-class gossip. It was the part about this that drove Orion insane. There was little time to dwell on it, however, as he caught eyes with one Mr. Valini, who motioned him over once his attention was grabbed. The squire led Kyra over to the host of the event and released her arm to offer him a bow in greeting. "A lovely event, Mr. Valini. You have my thanks for your invitation." Straightening himself, Orion turned to Kyra. "May I introduce the simply stunning Miss Kyra?"

Mr. Valini nodded to Orion and took Kyra's hand to greet her in the same way Orion had. "Magnificent! I wonder if there will be a finer couple this evening. I'm sure your attendance will elevate Mr. Michaels' standing, ma'am. I do hope you enjoy yourself." The middle aged man licked his lips quickly as his eyes danced over Kyra's features, a momentary flicker of desire in his eyes. He doused the flames for the time being, though, to turn his attention back to Orion. "Enjoy yourselves, partake of the food, drink, and music. Orion, if you could come see me before the bell is up, though, I would be quite grateful." With that the host turned to go mingle with other guests, glancing once or twice back at the vixen with whom Orion had attended.

"Nice, fellow, hmm? What do you say we go see what else this place has? If it doesn't have a waterfall of wine, I might have to complain to Mr. Valini."

"How do you know?" she asked simply. "How do you know that there are men here more handsome than you? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That is the saying, yes?" She started to sway a bit, staring up into his deep blue eyes. She felt no danger around him, and he wasn't the cruel type. He did, however have a interesting life style and was always getting into one exchange or another, but that was part of his charm she imagined. "I do not pretend, but I am glad that you think I look nice." she paused suddenly and glanced over her shoulder when he mentioned the jealous, beautiful rich women. "It is strange, people speak of coin as if it's the most important thing in all the world. But these people have more than they will ever need, but they don't seem happy."

She smiled a bit then, a soft giggle slipping out from his comments. If he didn't know anyone at the party then it would be a possibly long or interesting night. It seemed that people enjoyed doing that. Heading out into the world to meet other people in which they had no plans of ever seeing again. It was a curious thing she thought, Kyra liked companionship, she enjoyed being close to others for an extended amount of time, but wasn't so easily trusting of people she didn't know or understand. The girl shook her head at his next comment and replied, completely missing the humorous side to it.

"I didn't think that at all. These people remind me of those that my mother used to spend her time with. They were..boring. But you're not boring, you are different, that is why I was surprised." The more she spoke with him, the more interesting the squire became. She hadn't imagined that women hated him, and judging by how easily he was with speaking with her, she wouldn't have guessed he was a hated man. "Women hate you?, Why though? Perhaps it was a misunderstanding?"

Kyra stared at him in silent for a tick as he denied his own jokes. She was still learning to pick up on these subtle gestures and facial movements, but she was pretty sure that he had been joking, or at least she thought so. "Are you sure you weren't joking Orion?" She nodded in agreement that the woman was insane and was glad to hear that she wouldn't be near-by. "I'd call her a crazed, axe wielding, spiderwoman."

One they headed inside, Kyra looked around as Orion did as they both took in the scene before them. "I kinda like it.." she responded to Orion's words of judgement. She thought on his words for another tick, and started to wonder if that too had been a form of a joke. "When I was much younger I attended a ball with my mother." Her voice trailed off then, as her memory of that day had long since blurred. However, once they moved further in, the sound of music teased her ears and a bit of her memory returned, reminiscent of that day. "My mother was teaching me to play the organ, and our butler bought me a flute..but I didn't learn it well. You don't like music?"

The young kelvic watched as her companion for the evening, took a glass of wine and drank from it. He seemed to like it and his excitement made her curious. Reaching up, she tilted his glass downward and drank from it. The taste was sweet, and more smooth than what she had tasted before in the tavern. She licked her lips and she raised her eyes to meet his again. "It is very sweet, much better than what I tasted before."

With the wine testing behind them, Kyra walked arm-in-arm with Orion as he led her over to meet someone. She gave a light curtsey as Orion introduced her to the man, the same man that she had been sent to spy on. "Mr. Valini, it is nice to meet you." she said with a gentle smile. She watched him as he leaned forward to kiss her hand, it was good that he found her attractive, and she would be sure to use that edge later now. "I really like your ballroom, it is very fancy." She said nothing else for the moment and while Orion spoke with the wealthy patron, she combed the room in search of her employer. Just as she had thought, they were there and watching the three of them. Mr. Valini was exactly who she was supposed to work.

"Wine? Yes,." She said in return to Orion's words."Let' s..."

"I suppose it's all a matter of perspective, yes," he considered, though he kept his actual thoughts to himself. If fifty people found you ugly, and one amazing, were you gorgeous or hideous? Orion would not have put his money on winning any awards for beauty with those odds. "It's good that you don't pretend. Women who do, well, they tend to be nothing but trouble, and trouble is the last thing I'm looking for." The blonde vixen, she was always surprising him with things she said or did. It was quite the acute observation. "Indeed, Kyra. That's something I've noticed. There gets to a point where it all comes to making more and more coin. It's not about what you do with it, just that you have it, and that you have more than other people. I won't deny that I've got a pretty stash myself, but if I were in it for the money, I'd not have given up my profession. People are strange creatures."

He chuckled at her reply. Calling him different was one thing. "Oh, you mean you don't normally go to events with doctors who turned into cooks who turned back into doctors and then became a squire for who knows why? I just can't see why you'd be surprised," he said, grinning. It sounded absurd to him as well. That was all in a matter of years, too. Orion was hardly old enough to merit this many career changes. "Why do women hate me?" He shook his head, chuckling once again. "Let's just say....I give out my affection a little to freely...and too broadly and people by their very nature are needy people who don't like to share." If he put it that way, Orion wasn't the bad guy, right? How these woman would get the idea he wanted anything more than the physical contact he offered was always beyond him. Yet when he refused them, turned cold when they sought something more, he was always wrong. For all his successes, in reality he was a failure in those ways.

Orion paused a moment to really look at Kyra when she spoke of his jokes. The girl was beautiful, flexible, a fighter, clearly intelligent, but sometimes he wondered. Humor seemed to be beyond her, or at least Orion's dry, sarcastic style. "I joke quite frequently, Kyra. It's dangerous to take me too serious," he replied, adding a wink. "I'd call her none of our concern anymore, and for that I'm thankful."

No wonder the woman seemed to fit in so well, if these sorts were a part of her upbringing. Perhaps the two had a little more in common than Orion initially realized. "No, I love music. I just never had a real good chance to learn. You think I should? Maybe add musician to the list of jobs I hold? I'm beginning to sound like some hero from a child's tale. Am I off to slay the vile beast and save the day now?" He figured he was more likely to retire someday with nothing to tell but of his exploits with women. Who'd want to listen to how grandpa was a lady killer back in the day? "My father really never gave me the chance to do anything but medicine," he said. "I suppose I owe him for my skills today."

After their exchange with Mr. Valini, Orion led Kyra from the man and towards where the musicians were at. The music was uplifting and very skillfully played, at least to the squire's untrained ears. "So organ and flute, huh? I'd have always fancied myself a stringed instrument player. I think I'm big enough for one of those giant violins." He was, naturally, referring to the cello. "Such a rich, strong sound. Sounds pretty appealing, huh?"

At that time an absolutely crazy idea came over him. He saw others doing it around him, and truth be told, he didn't have any clue how to do it. He was likely, no, certainly to make a fool of himself, but Orion didn't really care. If he was here, he was going to let loose and enjoy himself. After he spoke with Mr. Valini again, he was unlikely to be able to ignore things and just have a good time. There would be work to be done. So, with a a sheepish smile, he released arms with Kyra and turned to her, instead offering her his hand. "Kyra, would you care to dance? I'm afraid I can't claim dancer among my talents, but I figure that if we're here, we may as well look the part fully." Gods help us all.

Kyra swayed a bit more as she stood with her arms crossed at the wrists. She enjoyed talking to people and although she would find many of them boring, there were some who made her laugh, though she might not have laughed at what they wanted. Orion said something that she agreed with completely, humans were strange creatures, and she had spent a lot of time trying to solve the puzzle that was the human mind. Still, the doctor, turned squire was getting through to her and his next words caused a smile to rise upon her lips. "You don't like trouble? But you're a squire..Isn't that what you do? Seek out trouble and wiggle your sword for Justice and all?"

The young kelvic arched a brow and allowed a giggle to slip through her lips as he added cook to his resume of jobs. Kyra enjoyed eating a lot and after spending so much time around humans she had started to favor their cooked and flavored meals to the rations and raw meats that she was used to dining on. So it appeared that he was also a cook among other things and she tilted her head with a smirk as she widen her eyes a bit. "You forgot masseuse, and hunter." she added and swayed a bit more. The man had many names it seemed and for her it had been amusing to try and remember them all.

She felt for him a bit, knowing all to well what it was like to be hated by others. It was surprising to hear though, the men that she had met were usually pretty fond of women, any woman and would do or say anything to get them to stick around. So she couldn't imagine what Orion had done to upset women, unless there was more to his story than he was telling. The girl knew of secrets, enjoyed learning them and keeping them away from others was fun for her. If this was a secret of his, if it was a good one then she'd try and pry it away from him at some point.

Glad that they wouldn't be expecting any multi-armed beast to attack them and pull off their clothing, Kyra entered the building with Orion where the discussion of music came about. She had learned as a small cub, as she had said but most of it she didn't even remember any longer. "Music can be fun to learn, it made me happy and I enjoyed the time with my mother. She also showed me how to paint, but I fear I am no better at painting than I am with any instrument. If you like music, then maybe you should try it."

Once they made their way towards the musicians, Kyra took in the sight of the many instruments they were playing. She had seen them before on display in Ravok and again at one of the balls her mother had taken her too. "Yes, the organ had been in our home for as long as I remember and Jacques bought me a flute as a gift." She nodded to Orion after he spoke about the giant violins. "Go on, you should try it."

Kyra smiled when Orion asked her to dance, already her wandering gaze had moved towards the dance floor and saw the others dancing away the evening. The girl loved to dance and in many ways her mind was trapped in the past, to the last time that she had danced with Jacques before he and her mother were killed. It was one of her fondness memories and each time that she danced, she relived that moment. "I'd be delighted."

With another nod, she took his arm and led him out onto the floor. She smiled to her new dance partner, slipping one hand to rest on his shoulder and lightly placing her other hand inside his palm. "It is the role of the man to lead, yes?"

Trouble was one thing. Trouble with women was another. Truth be told, he hated them both, but if he had to pick one, he'd deal with regular trouble over a pissed off woman any day. "People who like trouble end up dead, if you ask me. They go looking for it. They go looking for too much. Me, I just want to stop trouble before it gets too bad. If I can do that, then I don't have to use my medical skills, and well, all the better, right?"

"Ah, but of course. How could I forget those?" It was really absurd, wasn't it? He'd changed professions so many times over the past handful of years. Nothing could hold him. Nothing kept him driven. Something would happen and he would change on a whim. Sometimes it was worrisome that the same sort of thing would happen with his Knightly aspirations. All that said, he was quite amused that she still called him a hunter. He had said it, sure, but it wasn't how he meant it. The man hunted, but not for animal or beast.

"I wonder if I'll ever have time to learn? It's a miracle that I'm even able to be here. Dinah doesn't seem to approve of me taking these side jobs, but as long as I keep up on my training and duties, I guess she isn't going to say anything." He paused for a moment to contemplate truly learning a musical instrument. It would be something else, that was for sure. He spent so many bells nose first in books about medical terminology, procedures, herbs, and anything and everything that could improve his skills as a physician. How different could things have been if he'd been given more free reign to learn?

Speaking of things he'd never learned, what in the world had he got into? Asking the lovely Kyra to dance? He had two left feet that thought they were both rights. The blonde woman placed her hand on his shoulder and met palms with her other. "Lead? I'm not sure you'd want to follow me here. We'll be lost or dead by the time I'm done." He placed his other hand on her hip, took a deep breath and just stood there, staring at the ground. He bobbed his head to the beat of the music and quietly counted aloud. "One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. Okay. Start...now....Start...now." His feet remained planted, unwilling to cooperate. He looked up at Kyra, a sheepish grin on his face. "Don't worry. I'll get these legs moving, I promise." That was a promise he wasn't sure he'd actually get to keep. At least the music sounded good.

Kyra smiled, staring deeply into the blue eyes of the doctor turned squire. He was nervous, much like the black smith was when she pulled him onto the floor to dance in the tavern. The blonde man had given it his best, but he did look a bit silly. Kyra didn't mind though, she was just enjoying the evening and wasn't put off that he seemed to stumble a lot. In truth, she found it funny. Orion was just as nervous, but lucky for him the dancing in Syliras seemed to be a bit slower, or at least for the occasion it was. "You wanted to dance, yes? This is dancing..it will be alright. As long as you don't fall."

She gently hugged his hand, her small fingers slipping in between his. With her arm and other hand resting on his shoulder, she moved slowly allowing him to lead while keeping her feet on the inside of his. They moved slowly but as the song was for such a dance, they didn't appear out of place. As much as she enjoyed dancing, she hadn't tried this type in a long time and was more than out of practice. It would take her time to recall it all and even with that, there was still her partner to consider. She listened curiously as Orion counted and was reminded of her early years when Jacques would count to help her follow along.

Suddenly Kyra started to feel a bit more comfortable with him and fell in line with his count. The kelvic didn't count aloud as he did, but she followed his steps as best as she could. "I think we are doing well, wouldn't you agree?" she asked in a soft tone. Kyra glanced over his shoulder and to her right and noticed that the others were also adding in a spin after a pattern of dance steps. "You can spin me?" she asked before stepping out and turning herself under his elevated arm. She twirled around easily, and was able to keep her balance as she finished the turn and slipped back into his arms again.

"That went well enough, I must say Orion with your stylish suit and dance, you were made for this." She giggled softly and continued along, hoping to keep the rhythm in tact as they moved on through the pattern of steps and to another spin. They had both come there on a job, for coin and nothing more. But in this moment, Kyra was enjoying herself as she was able to do something that she had liked every since she was a small child. Of course soon the dance would end and she and the squire would be off to do what they came for, but for the moment at least she would dance.
