Syl Serin

How this series of events came to be is beyond imaginable of even the most imaginative imagination of a child that there ever was, even bedtime stories were more non-fiction than this story that Syl Serin found herself sitting in a tavern looking across the table at probably the ugliest squint eyed man she ever did see. Good too, she would never want to see him again. Weren't people supposed to look less ugly the more you drank? Not this guy.

Syl then raised her half finished, fifth mug to the skies and yelled, "You ain't gunna beleeb this when I straight face tell ya." Lowering her now nearly fifthly finished mug down to the wooden table. "I don't beleeb it myself. Just like how ugly you look!" The man sitting next to Syl noticed she was having a very intense argument with an old broom that did have the peculiar look of having a mustache.

"Why don't you go shutup somewhere else you ugly person thing you. Leave so I can tell my story!" The broom went flying across the tavern and out the open window.

"Yeah! You better," Sly paused for a moment to take the last drop drips by licking her tongue around on the inside of the mug trying to get that annoying last bit of drink hanging up in the crik of the top. " fly away!"

Relaxing in her chair noticing the majority of the attention falling upon her in the room she began to speak once more.

"Alright, already I'll tell ya the story..."

When It Couldn't Get Any Worse

Syl Serin

29 Winter 513

It was a rather chilly morning in the streets of Syliras. Clutching her thickened amount of clothing Syl, noted that the temperature called for a small spell to be spent outside today lest she desired to be frozen to a crisp. She turned the next alleyway thinking it would be the easiest way to get to the closest inn or tavern that would allow her to sit in the common room by the hearth for free if she bought a simple cup of hot tea or whatever was the house's specialty winter brew.

Winter, Syl was born in the winter. Though it was uncommon for a Symenstra to like weather outside of warm and damp, Syl actually liked the winter to a point. As long as she wasn't suffering the early stages of frostbite, terrible wind chills, or even catching a cold, winter was all the more enjoyable with how its briskness would cover the body in its coldness like a warm embrace by someone like those storybooks seemed to have about romance.

"Silly humans and their stories of romance. They just don't understand that proliferating the species is a must. If only they would have to face the threat of death from their young, they might not be so up in Woos all the time about where the next ride is going to come."

Syl thought while rubbing her fingers across her mother's onyx web pendant. "I'm sorry mom. I know you loved me. You wouldn't have even given me the chance if you didn't. The clan says we must do it for the good of the community of the Symenstra, when all they really want is to secure a place to put it just like these humans. We are no better than them. Hell, I killed the Isur that decided to take me. I am better than all of them. They will see what it is like to live with the threat of death and how important it is to the world. They will..."

MEW

Syl was a bit astonished at the cat now using her shoulders as a perch to stand. The small kitten landed on her left shoulder also a bit shocked as well. Then the kitten noticed where it stood and made its way happily as if without a care in the world towards Syl's hand that was rubbing the pendant. The kitten purred trying to balance on Syl's chest. Syl was leaning back away from the kitten to try and gain distance between it and her nose that she could feel wrenching up. Was she allergic to cats?

"Achoo!"

Apparently she was. Then a fit of sneezes followed. Syl could see the kitten bolting away through the alleyway wrapped up in her mother's pendant. "Why the little thief! Achoo!!" Syl sneezed for the last time before running after the kitten through the alleyway.

"Come here you little! Achoo! Mongrel!" Syl yelled at the little cat that ran away with her Mother's pendant through the back alleyways of Syliras to where ever cats go when they run away. The orange colored kitten ran the corner towards the left heading down an a path that led through the back side of where a large collection of drying clothes were hanging out for laundry day. It was somewhat hard to keep running after the kitten bounding through the clothes like nothing as the wind blew the laundry of sheets, linens, and shirts full forced into her face. Whip, whip, whip went the clothes as Syl struggled to exit the alleyway. Soon she found herself covered in numerous clothing attire covering her face by the time she exited into the square.

"Errrughhh!!"

Syl yelled out of frustration throwing the garments into a ball to the ground. Quickly she looked around to spot the kitten.

"There!"

Syl saw it run betwixt the legs of a green panted performer with an audeince in the middle of the small open square. She ran quickly past the performer making him lose a bit of his balance causing his juggling act to fail miserably. Two of the three balls hit Syl in the head as she passed him. Continuing to run after the little thief she rubbed her head where the two balls had hit her squarely.

"I gonna kill you. You little damn miscreant!"
