[The Bronze Woods] Old Hatreds (Shadow River)

43rd day, Spring, 513 AV

Night was comforting after a full day spent doing nothing. Or at least, in her vision, nothing constructive. Hunting had not gone too well; tomorrow morning Scarlet would either have to catch something or spend some of her hard-earned cash on the market when she returned. It was frustrating, to say the least, that she had missed her prey by not as much as a couple of inches. I'm going to get that blasted squirrel tomorrow. And when I do... Oh, it's going to be in a world of hurt. She sighed as she took off her tunic in the cold spring air. Tonight, she was not really in the mood for doing anything else, nor would she spend it inside the castle. At least three times a season, Scarlet tried spending a night outside, to keep in touch with herself. Her animal form needed a bit of communion with the nature outside hunting.

For the next 24 bells, she’d return to her animal form, trying to forget everything about the rest of the world. It was some kind of ritual for her, something to help clear her mind off the normal life she lead in the city. Humanity tended to get dull. She leaned back against the tree, the bark pressing lightly across her skin as she removed her boots slowly. Scarlet enjoyed this particular tree for the niche which had formed inside, in which she could easily fit all her clothes, along with the one golden miza she always carried alongside her. Taking the coin out of her pocket, she watched it intently. Thinking. Pondering. So many nice memories from only a single coin which could work wonders.

Lucy… How I wish I could’ve told you. The woman occupied most of Scarlet’s mind. She looked forward to meeting her again. There wasn’t a day which didn’t pass by without thinking at least once at her. This had never happened before, not with any human she had encountered until now. It felt like she shared something with Lucy, something important. Yet she couldn’t really put her finger on it. This was partly an experiment to see if she’d wake up with her in mind, even as an eagle. Here, instincts usually took hold of emotion, and the animal side prevailed.

It was here Scarlet first contemplated taking her life, six years ago. Her mother having abandoned her, she wasn’t one to have lived much by herself. Yes, she had been taught the basics of living in the wilderness, but suddenly being on her own came as a shock. In the early days of winter food had been very scarce and for the first time she had been forced to feed on carrion. But she had come such a long way since then it seemed almost impossible to carry out those thoughts now. Scarlet had finally found a reason to live for.

Stripping off the rest of her clothes, she tried gathering her thoughts. The chilly wind outside felt somewhat releasing as Scarlet stuffed her clothes in their usual hiding place. She stood up, letting the wind brush onto every inch of skin as she took deep breaths. Soon enough, she’d probably shift and go to sleep. It was tiresome thinking of all these human problems.

Shadow River

Shadow had to escape. She had to escape the city. The humans, the sounds, the beer, the thoughts. Oh the thoughts. Why must I have these thoughts. Why won't they go away? Even when I'm a beast, I must have these thoughts. Times like this, makes Shadow want to go in a hole and never come out. Shadow has no real family, or friends. Nothing really keeping her from just wondering around like a fool. No ever told her, that they loved her. Not even her human family. They would pet her head and move on to more important matters. Like if Mother's hair should be up or down today.

Shadow couldn't shake the feeling that she must do something. There is something she needs to do. But what? Something is pulling at the ends of her soul, screaming at her that she needs to do something. She needs to something now before something bad happens. But what is it? What does she need to do? All the confusing questions and frustrations swirl around in her head. Banging at the sides of her skull, setting off a loud ringing in her ears.

Shadow stumbles around in the Bronze Woods, trying to take off her dress. The young Kelvic is preparing to shift into a black leopard. Maybe as a cat, I can find my answers. What in the world is she doing?

Shadow River just stares at this woman just stripping off her clothing. Then stuff them in off somewhere. Why is she just standing there. "Um... hello?"

[The Bronze Woods] Old Hatreds (Shadow River)

Postby Scarlet Evony on March 28th, 2013, 8:30 pm

If Scarlet were to have made a list of all the things she expected to find in the forest at night, another voice was probably not going to make the first hundred pages. She quickly turned around on her feet, covering her most exposed parts, eyeing the dark figure in front of her. She couldnt really tell apart her distinctive features, but she was most definetely a woman.

This had never happened before. Suddenly, a growing sense of being threatened lingered around her. There she was, naked, exposed, in front of another human who had probably tracked her down from Silyras. Everything about her spoke trouble to Scarlet. However, curiosity defeated instinct one more time as she approached the form in the shadows.

At a first glance, she didn't look like anything special, or threatening for that matter. Her dark skin was a rarity in Silyras, but that didn't make her any more different than an Akalak or any other race. No; her air emanated a strong scent of danger, a tension Scarlet had only met twice before. As soon as she shifted towards her, she knew her true nature.

Scarlet's voice stiffened to a cold chill imediately. "You shouldn't be here, kelvic." Her instinct: hurt, maim, kill. Go for the eyes first. However, a cold war was better before talons showed. "Steer away now and I promise I won't hurt you." It was probably not the best reception to give, but it put her at the distance she wanted to. Never again would she interact otherwise with a kelvic, not after what her parents had done to her.

Shadow River

Shadow River smiles at the other Kelvic words. She's like me. The woman's pupils go wide, but not in fear or anger. The adrenaline pumps furiously in her veins as she dares moves closer to the other woman. Shadow looks the stranger up and down. Taking in her stance and features. Looking at her face, there really isn't anything that would suggest she part animals. In fact if the woman didn't threaten, Shadow would have never known she's a Kelvic.

Shadow starts pouncing lightly on her feet, getting ready to either fight, run or play. Hopefully play or fight. Both is pretty fun to her. Shadow had to urge to poke and proud at the woman. Force her to tell stories about their kind, answer all her questions. Who knows, this woman could be all knowing. Our just as clueless as me. Do I want to risk being disappointed? The answer was yes.

"Aw, come on. Your the first Kelvic I ever met. Maybe we can help each other out? I promise not to hurt you, before you hurt me."

One could never be too cautious around another kelvic. One moment they're your friends then the second a bondmate appears they simply ditch you. Scarlet let down her arms, positioning in a simple balanced stance, one which would not threaten her away but one in which she could riposte on the first sign of hostile movement. "Look, there's privacy, and then there's privacy. I hoped to be alone for this day. Otherwise I wouldn't really be like this in the forest."

Scarlet circled the new kelvic a bit, trying to tell her origin. Her ravished form suggested a kind of impulsiveness, unlike other birds. However, if she was a mammal, she couldn't tell. Her best choice was to guess. "Probably a mountain something, by the looks of it..." She didn't take much time to concern with talking to her peer. "Look, this is probably not a good idea to talk to me. I'm not really fond of my own race and I'm not really in the mood for a fight. But I will if I have to." Good, that should be enough to send her going. Scarlet took a few step backwards, her entire supple form revealed.

Shadow frown in disappointment, but she can understand why the person would want to be alone. For many animals, it's in their nature to go off and be alone. When you are with others, it often results in risk. Even when you want to think otherwise. The young lady was about to back away, into the shadows but, she stop herself. "No," she silently hissed.

"I'll go only, if you answer some of my questions. You seem to have more experience in life than I do. So possibly you can answer them. Please, your the only other Kelvic I ever known."

"Question." Scarlet fired back. She was not in the mood to be interrogated by some other kelvic, not while she was naked. "You only have the right to ask one, then one way or another you're gone." Scarlet was deliberately trying to be aggressive now, wanting to taunt her conversation partner more and more. It probably wasn't the best way to start her meditation, but she never passed by an opportunity to harass her race mates.

"So, unless you plan on getting yourself killed, or worse..." Scarlet smiled devilishly letting the proclamation settle in. "... I'll suggest you stick to the plan, kelvic." Her smile widened as she resumed her defensive stance. She hoped to get her to shift, that way she'd have aerial superiority and chasing away any land based animal would've been very easy. It wasn't much, but in the end, it was a start.

Shadow eyes narrow at her now enemy. The other kelvic words caused something to stir inside Shadow. Her instincts told her to prepare to fight. To assert her dominance. Watching the other girl's defensive stance made Shadow want to attack her even more. "I would watch that tone of yours. Do you honestly think you can win against fight with big cat? I like to see you try," the words flows out of Shadow mouth without realizing it. Her instincts have taken over completely.

Right now she's just another threat to the other Kelvic and vice versa. Plus Shadow can never resist a fight. Naturally the she-cat got in the same defensive stance, inching closer to her target. She knew she had to fight human, because it will take to long to change out of her clothes.

So that's what she is. Okay, how bad can it be? Leopard, tiger, panther, lion... Or just a housecat? Scarlet chuckled at her own joke as her enemy drew closer. It was only a problem of time before she could attack. She just needed to taunt her a little more. "Oh, I'm so scared!" She mimicked a scared voice before bursting into laughter. "Tell you what, I eat cats for breakfast." The seconds slowly ticked by, tension rising and falling in between them. It was almost enjoyable.

During the time in which the other kelvic was preparing to defend, Scarlet felt truly alive. It had been ages since she had gotten into a fight and it was pleasurable knowing she'd have a worthy opponent. Without so much as a word, feeling her opponent was off guard for just that moment, she tucked one of her legs in between her enemy's and tried pulling her off her feet. "It's on."

Shadow River

Shadow was cut off guard; she was hoping that she would make the first move. Doesn't matter because Shadow is prepared. The she-cat wasn't able to move out of the way quick enough, so she falls. The feline doesn't give any response to the comments. Only a cold expression imprints on her face. Shadow didn't really see this as a life or death matter. To her this is a game. And Shadow hates losing.

She extends one leg and the spins around trying to cause the other Kelvic to fall. Then she gracefully pushes herself off the ground so she is once again standing. Shadow attention is completely on her enemy. Every breath, every movement.
