1 Spring 513, Bronze Woods

Ten arrows, one crossbow, and one goal of finding a way to make a few mizas find themselves in her pocket, Syl had a slight bit of ambition ready to disperse. She had decided that now was the time to stop running around and being in the world and instead make the world hers to shape. Syliras seemed like a good place to start out on this new adventure for herself. Since Syliras seemed to be one of those cities with a lot of people, commotion, and money flowing around it was probably the best place for her. Now, however, she found herself climbing the trees with her hands latching to the blossoming trees up to where she could garner a vantage point to look out over the terrain.

Syl turned her head and her body to look around the area where she had decided to poke out. A few birds of prey could be seen flying off in the distance. They were doing the same as her, hunting. She watched the birds float softly before they would dive down into the woods then rising back above the tree lines with something held in their clutches meant for the newborns.

Syl sighed for a moment out of a motherly duty but quickly rescinded the notion because it would have meant she would have most likely died while giving birth to a pure blood Symenstra. Her babe would have definitely done what she had done to her own mother or even worse. Oh, how sweet her own mother tasted inside her belly as her primordial meal. Just thinking about it, sent thrills through Syl's body that she nearly was brought to orgasm if it hadn't have been for the movement she noticed below causing a stick to break under the weight of a heavy beast. A heavy beast she could hear but not yet see through the shifting underbrush below.

Syl began to climb to a lower place in the tree to get a better angle to look at the creature to identify what it was.

Shadow River

A smooth black leopard scurries in the the shadows of the trees and bushes. She camouflages herself in the darkness, where she most comfortable. The only thing stands out is her eyes, which are the color of the moon. This is black leopard, this fellow hunter, is Shadow River. Who currently has her eyes on nice size buck.

The buck was a little too far away to chase down. So she position herself near some healthy looking grass and berries. As she planned the buck is slowly moving his way near her. When he is two yards closer, she will stalk him, the fully attack. At least the would be the case if something wouldn't be moving around in the trees.

Shadow River looks up around in the trees. She sees a pale figure there hiding with bows and arrows. Damn a hunter.

Hunting is all about bringing down the biggest prize. Hunting for money is all about bringing down the biggest prize with the least required effort. The beast she had noticed making a slight shift in the grass turned out to be a creature she was not expecting to be anywhere near these parts of the world, a black leopard. Clearly, it had to be a black leopard because of the way it moved in the dark, shrouded by the lack of light. The only thing she could make out were the pale grey catlike eyes glaring at her. Syl knew she had been spotted by the leopard. You never saw the eyes of a leopard unless they were looking at you.

This leopard was probably here for a similar reason, to hunt. Now, Syl was feeling a bit compromising, a rare occurrence. She would allow this leopard to have its meal of course but Syl would be taking the horns, fur, and a small bit of meat for a soup she would be all the more willing to share if the consent were to be returned. Now, was not a time to talk since the prized buck drew near to the leopard soon to be within reach of those sharp claws. Syl nodded with two fingers saluting from her forehead to the leopard trying to signal that this would be a good time for cooperation as she armed the crossbow she held in her hand ready to fire at the sweetspot.

Shadow River

Shadow River was surprised that the pale figure gave her the right away. She waved a thank you with her tail, even though the hunter might not be able to see it. I wonder how she'll react when I turn human. Shadow did not ponder on that because only hunting is on her mind now. There is no time to be thinking about the woman reaction or her red eyes. For now the foolish buck as not moved two yards closer but, three.

Shadow toke in a deep breath, ingesting the prey's scent. The buck is completely healthy and has no injuries. Meaning this will not be a painless or easy kill. The black cat still stalks on. Taking her body completely to ground, the feline crawls on her belly, her shoulder blades popping in and out. The she-cat controls her breathing, so the buck doesn't realizes it's being hunted. She also tried to avoid any rocks because anytime, she made any kind of noise. The buck would raise it's head, which meant Shadow had to freeze in position.

Even though this looks effortless, Shadow is using a lot of her skills and engery. Her heart is pounding because of the adrenaline. Her stomach is growling because of her hunger. Her brain is hurting because there's chance, that all her efforts could be vein.

When she believes she's close enough, the mighty cat springs for the kill. Shadow embeds her teeth in the prey's throat. Her forelegs wrap around the animal's neck. Her claws are out, tearing at the buck's flesh. Nevertheless the buck is still moving, still running, seemly carrying Shadow away. But then she uses all her weight to try to pull the buck down but, the buck gives her a hard hit in the stomach. Shadow makes the mistake of letting go. Now the a seriously hurt and seriously mad buck is prepared to fight Shadow for it's life.

Watching how the leopard stalks its prey fills Syl with a bit of excitement watching the way a stroke of death will play out. Will it be the leopard or will it be the buck? Or her if for that matter somehow she becomes involved prematurely. With the tree as her vantage point concealed from the buck and noted by the leopard she waits and watches the events unfold.

The buck draws nearer, too close. The leopard tumbles with the buck to place it on its back as shreds of the flesh scatter. Syl tries to hold in a moan of enjoyment, but her lips let loose a small hissing shrill alerting the two to her presence yet seemingly ignored. The buck begins to run once again on its legs. Then uses all of its might to place a hard hit into the stomach of the leopard causing it to get free. It stumbles loose but with a haughty breath signalling that it is pissed off beyond recompense. Its breath can be seen in a small cloud. It is prepared to die and kill at the same time. All of its sight is filled with red, red, red. It charges forth intending to land another hit upon the leopard's body, this time with the point of its horns.

Syl drops from her perch in the tree into a tumble for a softer landing within five yards of the pair of creatures before her. She looks down the sights of the crossbow and let's an arrow fly towards the buck in an attempt to soften its deadly charge. Then with an understanding that this one arrow might not be enough to warrant her own safety she loads another into the crossbow ready to fire at the buck if it survives or at the leopard if it gets any ideas about placing Syl on the menu.

Shadow River

Shadow River was prepared to get out of the way when the buck got struck by arrow. Taking advantage of the buck's distraction, the black cat jumps on the prey. Using all her weight to take it down. Taking a quick hold of the buck's neck, she suffocates it. When the body goes stiff, the young Kelvic locks eyes with the red eyed woman. Great now what? She's pointing a arrow at me. Do I reveal to her that I'm part human? She might shoot, accuse me of stealing. But, if she thinks I'm a mere animal, she might shoot at me to take my fur. Damn, she might shoot me either way.

Shadow River changes into her human form, with her teeth still on the meat. She stares at woman. The young Kelvic wanted to stay something. She wanted to say thank you. But her body will stay frozen until the arrow is lowered.

The arrow sailed true to its target, not landing the killing blow, but enough of a distraction to warrant the leopard the finish. Syl held her stance locking with the leopards pale eyes as she winced with an intense focus waiting for the next move. Syl did not feel like dying today and she was sure the leopard felt the same. It would not be an easy fight if it were to happen so Syl decided that avoiding such pleasantries would be very beneficial.

Then with her bow held aimed at the leopards head that began to shift form into a more human appearance she noticed that the leopard was indeed one of the Kelvic people. Syl lowered her crossbow latching it to her side figuring that the mere presence of the weapon rose the tension between them. She chuckled slightly after fastening the last latch to secure the crossbow to her back.

"Ahh, so that explains it. A Kelvic! And here I was about to shoot you and sell your fur. I am glad you decided to change back to this form. Now, I don't have to lug the heavy load, the both of you creatures." Syl finished with a sigh in her breath looking down at the ground at the blood mixed between the buck and the leopard. "You seem injured. Would you like to patch yourself up? I have some fishing string and a dozen needles if you'd like. And, don't ask me to sew you up. I'd prefer to only have the buck's blood on my hands today."

Shadow drops the bucks neck and sigh. "Oh thank gods. I thought I was going to die," the young Kelvic says with pure joy. Her instincts however did warn her to be cautious around the pale stranger. Shadow looks down at the side of her stomach to see a large bruise and a few small scratches. "Oh miss, that won't be necessary. I should be fine. When I get to the city, I'll have some ale to calm the pain."

At that moment, Shadow stomach growled madly. She looked up at the pale stranger. "Look, I swear I won't ruin the skin or take to much meat. But, this is my breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the rest of the week..."

"I believe we can arrange the division more appropriately if we find a rope and a tree to hang the body from to skin it out to each their own. All I want in the way of food is the organs of the most soft and juice. The toughness of meat does not ride well with me." Syl reaches into her belt pouch and pulls out from the hunting kit a set of skinning knives. She rolls them out to try and decide which blade would be the best of choice but before rolling it out completely she rolls it back up and puts it away thinking, perhaps, it would not be a good idea to display such a collection in the prescence of a Kelvic. It may bring about images of fellow Kelvic's meeting the same fate as this buck.

"I am sorry if I insult but you do understand that this is the next thing we must do? If only I had a place other than the open wilderness to seperate out the portions of meat, fur, horns, and hooves. You wouldn't happen to have a place with four walls where we could...erghmm...divide the portions?"

Shadow shook her head, "I'm sorry miss but, I have no place under my name. I live with my brother so, I don't think he'll allow you to come in with giant bleeding buck in his apartment. He has thing with animals... and blood," the Kelvic chuckles. She look at the hunter's kit in slight awe. She didn't realize how much tools you need to hunt. Maybe this lady can teach me some things. Better tell her my name first.

"I'm Shadow River by the way, miss."
