Spring 12, 513 A.V.
Tlazotinya walked with her head down and cloak drawn around her tall form, her short swords were a comforting weight on her hips as she walked through the city towards the docks. She wanted to see the ocean, it was her first week here in the city and she had yet to see it. She smiled at the though of seeing it with her own eyes, and feeling the wind on her skin.
She was deep in thought that she didn't realize the humans that were watching her, a group of burly men had surrounded her. This made her uneasy green eyes flecked with gold scanned over the others. One set of hands was reaching for the hilts of her swords, while another set gripped the cloak around her form tightly.
''Is there something I can help you men with?'' She spoke with a refined and cool voice, not letting a single emotion show on her face or bleed into her voice. Knowing that if she showed weakness it would be over for her.
''The freak knows how to speak, imagine that......'' One of the burly men spoke, his voice was scornful and full of disgust. She shook her head, these humans were not worth her time, but they outnumbered her and were currently stopping her path of escape. She drew a breath into her lungs, then closing her eyes she attempted to calm the boiling rage within her. For if it was released, things would end badly for all of them.
That was a given, the only question was........Was she willing to go that far as to kill them? Of course she was, they were simple humans, there were enough of them as it was. What would a few missing ones do to hinder the population? |

For the Akalak by the name Khal'iah Vojak, the day was simply another splendid afternoon in the marine city known as Zeltiva! The sun was shining, the seabreeze was blowing, and thus far, the warrior's patrol was going by without incident. It had only been a few days since he had proven himself worthy to work for the Denvali Quarter, a sellsword by title charged with security detail, escort work, and other odd jobs that could possible require the usage of his combat skills. In Khal'iah's mind, it was the perfect job and the perfect opportunity for him to expand his skills by clashing with any number of ruffians or Wave Guard who dare attempt to impede his duty. To this end did he walk about Zeltiva armed to the teeth: his trusty longsword and Lakan being located upon respective sheathes upon his belt and his buckler worn at the ready upon his off-hand wrist.
'Not too much longer now before I can break for lunch.'he mused to himself, now deviating from his orbit of the Denvali Quarter to encompass the area closest to the docks. He had been walking around for several hours now and was certain that a thirty second deviation from the set path wasn't going to arouse reproach from his superiors...or so he hoped. In any case, with long, confident strides he continued to roam...then came to an abrupt halt when the scene unfolded before his eyes. There, before him, was a woman of foreign origin whom was being confronted by a band of local thugs. He could tell that this woman was foreign with just a glance, for she had more arms than the typical female, a trait that raised the Akalak's eyebrows, but didn't cause him to gawk or judge like the local buffoons.
Khal'iah's first instinct was to shout, thereby grabbing the attention of the men approaching the woman and subsequently come to her aide, but just as his mouth opened to utter a cry, the darker presence within the Akalak reared its ugly head. 'HOLD!' screamed the "dark" side of the warrior, known simply as Ha'lik, filling Khal'iah's psyche with his voice. 'What? Why?' Khal'iah responded, placing his sword hand upon the hilt of his longsword, preparing to draw. 'Just hold off for a second, I want to see this!' Ha'lik demanded. Khal'iah rolled his eyes, grimancing. 'Are you kidding me right now?!' he demanded, taking a step forward.
'Oi. Either you stay put and let me watch the show, or I'm taking us for a joyride when it's my turn tonight.' Ha'lik threatened...Khal'iah couldn't take the risk of interpreting this as a simple bluff and ground his teeth in frustration. 'I'll give you four seconds...you sadistic bastard...' he relented. |

''I want no trouble, so please let me pass.....'' The Eypharian spoke in a cold and clipped tone, making one of the smaller men wince and look unsure of himself. She shook her head. Knowing that this was going nowhere, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Stepping aside she tried to dart past the man in front of her, but she had miscalculated his intentions and was suddenly slammed into a nearby wall from the brunt force of the man's arm pushing her back. As this happened it revealed her six arms, each were long and slender, and unique all in their own right.
The man who had stopped her was now staring, she winced and tried to pull herself to her feet, but the force of the impact had caused her to hit her head, her legs were numb, making it hard to nearly impossible to stand.
The men laughed at her pitiful state which only made her more angry, she glared up at them, yet spoke no more. Thoughts were running through her head, as she scanned the area. Searching for anyone who could possible help, when her eyes fell on the form of the man she narrowed her gaze. The distrust was evident in her gaze, there was no doubt. |

As the young Akalak watched the scene unfold before his very eyes, his teeth continually grinding against one another out of sheer frustration, he had come to realize that he had never despised his inner darkness more in his entire life than in this particular moment. Harmony, equality, and balance had been jammed down both his and his alternative persona's throats for as long as they were alive, and so they generally cooperated and didn't do anything outlandish, nor blackmail each other into doing anything outlandish...but there was always a first time for anything. Finally, just as the woman raised her head to cast a look in his direction, the countdown of four seconds had passed and Khal'iah ripped his longsword from its sheathe.
'Wysar, guide my hand, let my blade sing true...and Ha'lik...I'll make you pay for this....' he thought, unleashing a bellow to grab the thugs' attention before rushing forward. A mere five steps brought him to the flank of one of the unfortunate sods and, upon getting in close, Khal'iah swung his off-hand with a mighty force. The buckler fastened upon his wrist collided with the jaw of the man, filling the air with a sickening crack and reducing the thug to a crumpled heap. He was far from being deceased, thankfully, as Khal'iah was certain that wouldn't go over well with the locals. Swift steps brought him to the woman's side, his blade now angled menacingly at the face of the one who had assaulted her in the first place. It took every ounce of restraint the warrior had to keep from spilling the bastard's blood all over the ground.

As the man came into view, she watched as he knocked her attacker unconscious. The after he collapsed to the ground she couldn't help but laugh, it was a cold and harsh melody as it escaped her lips. She came to her feet, although her legs were shaky she was able to stand and walk beside the male.
''I can take care if this."She ground out, but the truth was she felt safer with the violet-skinned stranger beside her. She turned to look at the others, and smiled. The spread of her lips was anything but charming or friendly, for her eyes were cold as stones and her teeth clenched.
Upon seeing this as well as the male who was threatening to kill them, the thugs scrambled away like whimpering dogs with their tails tucked between their legs. Once they were out of sight she allowed her body to sag, she was tired and hurt. All of this drama for a simple desire to see the ocean with her own eyes. She allowed her eyes to lift up to the male's striking blue ones. ''Thank you, stranger. I am surprised though. Not many help an Eypharian. |

Any man who dare prey upon a woman was a coward in the mind of the Akalak, and like the cowards they were, the thugs turned tail and fled at the instant Khal'iah began throwing his weight around. He shook his head in disappointment; he had expected more of his gender, but at the end of the day, most men were dogs. 'Jolly good show old friend!' chimed Ha'lik, further contributing to the grimace upon the warrior's face. 'Will you just SHUT UP?' He bellowed at the top of his mental lungs, nearly allowing his aggravation to spill out through his lips as a grunt. However, before he could further descend into an argument with...let's face it, himself...the woman he had assisted addressed him.
"Huh? Oh, you're most welcome." He stated, forcing a simple smile and returning his longsword to its sheathe. It was official, he was now going to take a break and nothing could shake his resolve. Khal'iah faced the woman and extended his right hand in greeting, regarding her with a polite warmness. "My name is Khal'iah Vojak of Riverfall, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am sorry that those dogs assaulted you like that...are you alright?" |

''Tlazotinya re Jahrid of Ahnatep, and yes I will be fine. Nothing I am not used to.'' Her voice was accented and flowed with ease, as if she was singing a melody. She eyed his extended right hand, she offer her lowest left hand, taking the strong hand in her own. She could feel the calluses on his palms and smiled. He was a fighter, that was easy to tell. Her own hands were callused as well, although her's were less noticeable.
''Are all of the men like that in this city?'' She asked as she pulled her hand away, she lifted the same one to the back of her head, she winced when her fingers brushed over the now tender flesh. It was true that she was used to wounds as such as the one she had received, but that didn't mean they were painless. And head injures were even worse, she would have to be careful. With her cloak gone this revealed her in a toga and a brightly colored sash around her slim waist, the fabric appeared to be expensive and crafted well, which in truth it was. It was odd to see her dressed as such with two shorts swords at her waist. |

'T'would appear there is more to this woman than meets the eye.' noted Ha'lik, obviously referencing the calluses that were upon her hand. Khal'iah felt the same, noting that, though not as pronounced as his own, she most definitely had some sort of fighting experience. Perhaps enough to have taken down those thugs on her lonesome...except, she had hit her head. The second thing that Khal'iah and Ha'lik both took respective notice of was not her accent, nor her expensive garments, but the twin blades that were at her waist. There was no doubt about it, this woman had some fight in her, and that was something an Akalak could, and always would, respect.
"It's unfortunate that you're used to such things, Tlazotinya re Jahrid of Ahnatep." Khal'iah stated, retracting his palm and folding his arms across his chest. In comparison to the elegantly dressed woman, he was a mere peasant. His simple attire consisted of nothing more than a tunic, trousers, boots, and cloak, all of white and smudged with the brown of travel and a few tatters from wear and tear. "And to answer your question, no, not all men of the city are dogs...some are snakes, some are rats, even more are insects. But there are a few decent men mixed in with the filth."
There was just a hint of humor to his tone as he said this, though his words were indeed true. "So tell me...what brings you to Zeltiva of all places? You're a bit far from home, correct?" |

''Tlazotinya is just fine, the rest of the name is for formal occasions. Other then that my first name will suffice.'' She spoke quickly and with a great deal of pride in her words as she explained to him the significance of her name.
When the man asked of her home she stiffened considerably and turned away. All six of her hands curling into tight fists and her teeth clenched. Of everything he had to ask about he had chose her birthplace, it nearly caused her breath to catch, she lifted a hand to her mouth to muffle any sound that would escape. Then she quickly replaced her sorrow with rage and anger, it was easier that way. If she was angry she wouldn't feel the pit in her chest where her heart had been.
''Must I really tell you?''The words were laced with anger as well as pain, making it evident that the memories of her birthplace recently were horrible, she tried to calm herself. Yet the actions were futile, running into the humans had already put her in a foul mood, now with the male speaking of the Eypharian's birthplace only buried her deeper in the dark and horrifying memories.
''I want to see the ocean, that is why I came out, but it seems that will be impossible today.'' She sighed, the voice was still raging with anger, but it was more resigned. Her stiffened figure had relaxed a fraction, but was far from being normal. She reached down and took her cloak, shaking it off she draped it over her shoulders. Once again covering her multiple arms. |

'Smooooth move.' Ha'lik stated flatly, though Khal'iah could tell instantly that his alternative persona was highly amused by his "blunder". But then again, how in the world was Khal'iah supposed to know that Tlazotinya's homeland was a touchy subject. Surprise laced his expression as his newfound acquaintance turned from him, expressing obvious signs of anger, frustration, and the like. "Erm..." he began, taking a step forward with extreme caution. "You don't have to tell me a thing..."
He motioned to the afternoon sun before continuing. "There's still plenty of light out as you can see, so I don't see the impossibility in seeing the ocean. It's only a stone's throw away from here, so if that's where you're wanting to go...then let's go." With that said, Khal'iah turned on his heel and began striding off towards the docks. If the woman chose to follow, which he sincerely hoped she would lest he appear to be a brazen buffoon for just walking off like that, they'd be at the docks and staring off into Matthew's Bay in no time. |
