Taloba, home to the Myrians, is the thriving core of Falyndar. Inhabited by a fierce and savage tribe where blood sacrifices are normal and a way of life, they are untamed and proud of it. Warlike, and with their numbers growing, the Myrians are set on reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. [Lore]

Pit remembered back to before entering school. Following someone around whenever he was allowed. After morning chores all of the children older than him went to school, so he would follow his aunt or uncle when his parents were away. Pit was allowed to carry things like eggs or vegetables and herbs. After school the children had chores they took turns at so everyone learned to help, with preparing meals, feeding and cleaning up after the animals. Pit most liked the hand to hand fighting matches that were the family style. Time was spent every evening by the young learning and being taught, by the elder children supervised by an adult.

Velna at eight was Pit's primary instructor in family rules, responsibilities, and procedures. Anybody in the family older than her,was able to send him to do whatever they needed done. Pit accompanied Velna when she did her chores in the morning and the evening. During the day Pit helped his aunt Khoe who was due to have a child soon, by carrying what he could and handing her what she needed. Thus it was that all younger family members were taught by an older capable child, that way when they were old enough to do chores on their own, they knew what to do and how to do it. Chores were rotated so that the animals, got used to everybody in the family. That way they didn't attack some and ignore others, they accepted new family members readily. The exception seemed to be those damn roosters and drake geese. Every child eventually had to whip at least one of them in a fight growing up, or take a whipping and ridicule for running. That is why every five year old was quite proficient it stick, as a mater of fact Myrian children began wielding sticks before they could walk, cause everyone else did.

Velna had little tricks for everything, before collecting eggs she scattered a small amount of seed, the chickens foraged for themselves mostly. The nest boxes and seed, as well as leaving a fake egg in the nest, kept them from having to search the jungle for the eggs. Selected chickens were allowed to hatch their eggs, they were food as well an egg supply. The geese were treated much the same. Goats were milked daily. If a goat had a kid you only took half of the milk and left the rest for the kid. Goats would eat anything which mostly consisted of the stems, husks, and non edible vegetable matter left over from meals, supplemented with vines and vegetation from the jungle. Life for a Myrian wasn't easy there was much to learn and only a few years to learn it.

Pit had fun growing up also it wasn't all work, there was a lot of fun too. The young dogs liked to chase sticks, and wrestle and wrestle. Learning to tumble and fall by slapping back with your arms to break a fall. Hide and seek, seeing how many times you could spin around without falling down. Velna's Riamm played with him as well when she was at school. Throwing pebbles at a larger rock was fun, right now Pit was the only one not in school in the longhouse at this time, but learning was a way of life it never stopped.

The family had four gardens, one for vegetables, one for herbs, one forvegetables, one medicinal plants and one for plants used in the making of poisons. Kloe had taught him about the vegetables, Squashes, melons, corn, beans, peas, and many others. The herb garden had peppers, garlic, onions, and green leafy herbs that were very hard to tell apart yet. The medicinal garden was one he didn't know much about, the aloe plant was used for burns though . The poison garden was tended by his grandfather Blain who lived just into the jungle outside the Poison Arrow Clan compound. Pit had never been to grandfathers garden, but grandfather often came in to eat with them, he told really good stories and laughed a lot. Blain had stories of the world outside the jungle. Grandfather also said it was quite a dangerous adventure, but I was born in the jungle and will die in the jungle. He also said he was thankful for what he had learned and was able to bring back to his people.

Today pit was to help with cooking supper for the supper meal blood stew enough for 12 to 15 family members tonight. Uncle Milac was in from patrol and he had caught a iguana lizard, which would go in the large pot with two chickens. The chickens heads were chopped off, and the blood drained in a bowl and covered for later. The chickens were dunked in boiling water to loosen up the feathers, then they were plucked. The iguana was skinned and gutted then the chickens were gutted. The only part of the chicken that wasn't eaten was the feathers and the guts. Head, feet, organs all went into the cook pot,the vegetables chopped spinach, potatoes, corn, and peas. Seasonings were salt, red and chile's,garlic, and onions. Rice was added and then the blood went in last to thicken and add the final flavor. Blood soup was a favorite dish but required living or very fresh ingredients. Pit helped pluck feathers, and collect vegetables for the meal. After the pot cooked for the next couple of hours Pit was off to play until everyone home for supper.

OOCAccidentally mixed up past and present tense. Working on improvement. Sorry :(

Well everyone who was in Taloba showed up for supper. Blain came in to eat with them tonight as well. Aunt Chala had baked fresh flat bread , and it smelled really great. Everybody exclaimed about the smell of the blood stew. Pit was given credit by his aunt and uncle for helping with it's preparation. The whole family was sitting around talking about their day and eating. Mother and father were both at the end of their scouting rotation, they had the same schedule though they didn't serve together. Khoe's mate was on patrol now and she was on an extended leave with the baby due within a month. Military rotations were set to keep families functional as far as mates being together and families having enough people at home to train and care for the children, animals and gardens. Many of the crafts work was done by family members who were retired from military service, the elders were the masters teaching the finer aspects of each craft. Grandmother Lhean had been killed fighting a Dhani patrol encountered on a hunt. The Dhani had been killed but grandmother had died with it. Grandfather Blain had stayed with the family and was a master poison maker.

When everything was cleaned up, everybody sat while Chala sang a funny song of the Great Hunt after the summer rains, all life in the jungle was starving not being able to hunt well for so long. The birds, lizards, turtles, and small animals hunted insects, and were in turn hunted by larger birds, lizards, and animals, in turn hunted by eagles, crocodiles, and great cats. The song included almost every danger to life that lived in the jungle, ending with the Myrians feasting on the largest Predator and prey. Blain told a story of hunting Glassbeaks, a predator of the Sea of Grass. The grass was taller than a man, and it swayed and swirled like the waves on the Suvan sea. The pack had been attacking lone riders and any animals that strayed to far. The Amethyst clan webmistress had identified the location of the pack of Glassbeaks. Blain was always invited along by his friend Thumhal who was a hunter for the clan. The pack included the male and three females, they had to go and the meat would supply meat for some time to come. Thumhal led three hunters along with Blain, they would encircle then use their bows from horseback. When one of the hunters was spotted he pulled the Glassbeaks in a circle to allow the others open shots.

Near the end of the story grandfather Blaine said, “I hit a Glassbeak with my bow, when it turned toward me my horse not being a strider panicked. I dismounted not to gracefully but found my feet as it charged. I crouched and set my spear, when it was to close to turn I raised and set my spear. The paralysis poison on my arrow had some effect, it struck out with beak and claws. As the Glassbeak crashed to the ground I jumped over it's head knife in hand to finish it. It was done with no casualties I had the only wound a nasty but not deep gash on the outside of my thigh.” All of the Drykas hunters had laughed at the crazy Myrian, they all thought done for, as he stood eating the heart of the Glassbeak. Everybody in the family laughed when Blain finished his story, he had many stories and had traveled and hunted all over Mizahar.

After grandfather Blaine's story Ereda spoke to her son, “Pit what will you do tomorrow do you think? Will you continue to be a worthless layabout, or would you rather go to school with your sisters. Tomorrow is after all your birth day, it is time for your formal training to begin. You will be given the rules to follow on your first day, but the most important rules are the ones you hear tonight.”

“Do whatever you are told to by your instructors as if they were your own family. You will usually be given a chance to ask questions, wait until you are asked. Your teachers will not always be the same ones or treat you the same. Physical teachers are fighting, exercise, and weapons are tough. They will push you to your limit and beyond, that is what it takes to become a Myrian warrior.”

“Most teachers do not allow visiting during class, listen to whatever you are taught it may mean the difference between life and death. Everything you learn is important so don't ask your teacher why you have to learn it. Anything you really don't understand ask the family after school. Last but not least you are Myrian and Poison Arrow, don't pick on others, only tease friends or family, but don't let anybody push you around or make fun of your family. If someone makes fun of you especially during weapons and fighting classes, is trying get you mad to gain advantage. If someone says your sister looks like a bush hog say: which one I'll pass that on to her.”

When her sister had finished speaking Khoe brought a bowl of fruit and melon, with some honey rolls. Pit received a sling and ammunition for it collected by his sisters, as well as a pouch for both. Velna offered basic instructions in its use, even if he was backhanded she teased. Pit had been told that Lhean had been backhanded and was someone everyone hated to face in combat practice. Grandmother fought against right handed people almost exclusively being only one of two close to her age left handed. The twins Selne and Junca being the oldest would be introducing Pit to Fliere the headmistress at school. Fliere would inform him of his class schedule, and show him to his first teacher.

It was getting late in the evening and there was just time to do today's exercises, they were a way for the children to wind down and relax. Exercise wore you out burned up energy and helped to relax so you could go to sleep. First tonight pushups hands and knees 10 times 5, knee bends 10 times 5, pull ups on a rope 5 times 5, 5 laps around the long house, summer somersaults 10 forward and backward, slap fall practice 20. The last exercises involved stretching everything out. Pit went around and thanked everyone for being there and for the thoughts, songs, stories, and treats. Pit received encouragement and a good many hugs. The next day would start a new beginning in Pit's life both as a member of the Poison Arrows, and as a Myrian.
