Date: 31st of Spring, 513 AV
Time: 21st Bell
Location: The Stone Garden

Night brought darkness to the world, creating a canopy of black and sparkling lights overhead that drew the eye and painted dreams of the most wondrous nature on the back of sleeping children's eyelids. For Ethan, however, there was no obvious change with the passing of Syna and the rise of Leth. Save for the quiet, the near silence which Ethan had come to enjoy more than he ever thought possible. When the sun set the streets became less crowded, less packed. He did not have to press so close to the walls, did not have to be so wary of where he passed his stick ahead of him. The laughs and voices of hundreds of people did not pummel his ears, confusing his senses and creating further blindness than the endless darkness. It was at night, when so many complained of less visibility, that Ethan felt he could truly "see" again.

This night Ethan found himself walking along the paths of the stone garden, his eyes closed and stick held before him as he kept his pace at an even and slow walk, being careful not to stray from the path and into the stones themeless. Stopping in his walk Ethan knelt down, resting on his knees as he faced out into the spreading expanse of stones before him. Gently he placed a hand on one of the stones, his fingers playing across the rough surface. Unlike those burdend by sight, Ethan could feel nearly every detail of the stone. It's surface was rough, almost grainy, and as he moved his fingers across it he felt particles of dust and dirt roll beneath his touch. He knew some of the particles would come away with his fingers when he moved them. To many the stones appeared perfectly smooth, yet to Ethan he could feel every bump, every small crack, every uneven surface. It was as if this stone was ignored by nearly all that passed it by, and Ethan now sat and heard a story that only so very few ever heard.

Folding his hands in his lap, resting his make shift cane across his knees, Ethan let his mind fall to silence as he gave this place the respect it deserved. He remembered now what this place represented, what each stone in turn meant, and it was humbling.

"I could only wish..." he said, gently touching the stone once more, "That if my time were to come, I too could be represented here. For if that were to happen, then surly I would have lead a noble and honorable life befitting a knight."

Through My Eyes (Fubuki)

Fubuki Kouri

Graveyard... was the first impression Kouri had upon seeing the Stone Garden And each of those stones represent... a dead person... Kouri was strangely filled with serenity as she sat upon one of the high wall section, overseeing the vast garden. She had always liked high places and upon becoming a ghost, it made all the easier to climb as she can just float up.

The ghost girl's ethereal white hair swung gently from side to side as if blown by an ethereal breeze as she swung her legs, deep in thought. Graveyard huh... mama... papa... The word 'graveyard' reminded her of its uses, to hold on to the memory of those who passed away. I wonder... where they are right now... did they pass on peacefully? Or are they the same as me... A single bloody ethereal tear fell from her right eye as thought that.

But it does not matter... right now, I have a purpose in my life, I will avenge papa and mama, and be at master's side for all eternity... Kouri nodded to herself, her unlife now driven by goals that her master, Cyrus Blackfire, sparked in her. Kouri then felt that she's in the mood to sing, to honor her parents, as they were an artist family. She begun to sing her mother's favorite song, the beautiful yet sad song her mother used to sing Kouri to sleep, titled 'Lilium'. As she begun to open her mouth, her hauntingly beautiful voice immediately filled the garden.

The mouth of the just one will prepare itself for wisdom
And his tongue is telling a judgement

Blessed is the one who bears a temptation
Since after being tested, he will receive the crown of life

Lily, the source of good-heartedness
Lily, the divine flower, be gracious

Oh how holy, how serene, how benign
How beautiful is the virgin believed to be

Oh how holy, how serene, how benign
How beautiful, Oh lily of chastity

Through My Eyes (Fubuki)

Postby Ethan Terran on April 11th, 2013, 4:51 pm

The sounds of music filled the air, a haunting, heart wrenching melody that wavered and swayed. A child's voice, yet a woman's pain...

Ethan tilted his head, angling his ears so that he could follow each note that washed over him. In truth the words chilled him, and set goosebumps to rise upon his arms. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, and yet... there was something so sad about the voice that Ethan could not be afraid.

Who would sing at this hour, and with such a sad tone and melody? Ethan wondered. Using the branch Ethan slowly stood, wrapping both hands around the wood as he tilted his head back, letting the final words wash over him. He could not let the night air fall silent like this, could not allow such heartbreaking words be what is left within these grounds which were made to honor, not mourn for those lost. Thus he raised his own voice, filling the air with his own song that, he hoped, would break the forlorn mood that was quickly engulfing the area.

"Upon the branch in early morn,
there sat a bird both old and wise.
From his beak fell godly wisdom,
and from his voice came Spring divine.

He sang a song of health and life,
Of buzzing bees and chirping birds,
Of rivers cold and trees aloft,
And flower blossoms from the earth.

Oh life anew begins again,
Called to being by the Spring.
The pains of winter long behind,
Are nothing more than memories."

!? Kouri's ethereal ears perked up as she heard someone... singing, yes it was definitely a song, the voice she heard was masculine and lower pitched much unlike her feminine and high pitched voice, and the masculine voice was also very beautiful, it even beat Kouri in terms of breath and pitch-control.

O-oh wow... s-so... beautiful... i-it reminded me of... Pap-... i-is he... truly papa?! Is he?! Kouri's ethereal eyes searched all round the garden, then she spotted a man... yes, a man with medium build and dark hair holding an musical instrument known as the flute. The man was quite near to her location, filled with excitement, Kouri immediately floated quickly to the man, occasionally blinking to cover the distance faster.

As she reached the male singer, she immediately materialized herself and hugged him, not caring in the slightest if her chilling ghostly touch could cause some discomfort. "P-papa?! Y-you are still alive? Oooooh! I missed you so much!" Kouri's logic was overridden by the thought of her father being alive and right in front of her.

Through My Eyes (Fubuki)

The sudden touch was startling, and Ethan flinched at both the suddenness as well s the cold that filled his body. The voice though... that of a child, a little girl? Surely it was, but she had appeared so suddenly, as if from no where. And the hug itself it did not feel... substantial.

Ethan was uncertain what he was to do, but something within him could not stand to let a child feel such feelings that he heard in the song. No child, no one with a voice such as hears, should feel such things at such a tender age. So, fighting back his previous surprise, Ethan gently lowered his arms around the girl, once more noting the strange sense of "lacking" to her body. Gently he would pat her head, a smile on his lips as he tilted his head down, eyes closed at the girl, "There now child, do not worry all is well. Have you lost your way?"

She was clearly upset, perhaps confused, and he did not wish to break her dream, if only for a moment he would play the part. She would learn that he was not her real father, but he hoped she would accept his help.

"There now child, do not worry all is well. Have you lost your way?"

"................................." Kouri was silent for a good one minute before she mentally slapped herself in the head What was I thinking?!! Of course he's not papa! Papa never called me 'child' and he is dead, Kouri! Dead! You better learn to accept that She berated herself in her own mind at her own stupidity. She just caused someone a very unneeded inconvenience. Kouri then quickly released the man, fidgeting with her hair ribbon in embarassment

"Ah.. uhm... aah... F-f-forgive me! I... I didn't know what came over me..." Kouri gazed at the man's face, he was handsome with masculine lines across his face, a cane in hand, soft hands befitting of an artist, and his... eyes? Kouri noticed the man didn't exactly 'look' at her, sure she was a ghost, but even she knows she was not 'that' transparent. Then Kouri moved closer to him and stare directly at his milky blue eyes. I-is he... is he... b-blind? The man's lack of visual reaction confirmed her thoughts. "A-ah uhm... m-my name is Fubuki Kouri... and... I'm sorry that I uuuh... hugged you without permission... I thought you were... my father, ehehehe..." Kouri awkwardly laugh at her own silliness.

"U-uhm... Forgive me for asking, but... uuh... you don't have sight, do you Sir? W-well uhm... I can... you know, w-w-well, are you familiar with ghosts? I am one... and uuh... I think I can try make you see me... in a sense, I can try to... well... go inside you as in... uuh... possess you, t-t-then we can see each other in... your mind, ehehe... b-but! I understand if you don't want to... I just... felt that I must give you something in return for forgiveness...." Kouri hoped that the man wasn't angry with her and she spoke the first thing that came to her mind to help him. Possession, the most curious ability of a ghost, mainly for manipulating a living like a puppet, but it can also be used to communicate with someone, through their soul.

Through My Eyes (Fubuki)

Ethan laughed a good natured laugh, raising a hand to halt ease her embarrassment, "There now it is quite alright. Really I have done something similar on numerous occasions." In fact Ethan could not count the number times he had approached people assuming they were someone else, or began a conversation with a total stranger. Ethan certainly understood what it was to mistake an identity.

The new information that flooded from the girl made Ethan raise an eyebrow. A Ghost? He had never believed that the existed, and in fact he still held his doubts that what the girl said was true. Yet how then could he explain what he had felt? How could he explain her sudden appearance, and how she had gotten so close without making even the smallest of sounds? Perhaps she was a Ghost, but even if she was, Ethan did not care for the idea of being possessed, though he smiled none the less.

"Ah, a Ghost? I believe then that you are the first I have ever met." he said, not seeming at all distrubed by the nature of the girl that stood before him. Then again, for a man who had never even seen his own reflection the thought of something he did not understand was not foreign, "And you are correct, I do not carry the gift of sight as many do. I have been blinded ever since I was a child, however, never once have I felt I could not see.

Ethan closed his eyes and once more tilted his head back, raising both arms out at his side. In his left hand he held the simple branch, torn from a tree, which served as his cane, while his left he held open, palm up, "Though I cannot say I have seen the light of the sun, I have felt its warmth and glow. I can feel it reigning high over head, impossibly far because when I reach up I cannot touch it." He touched a finger to his ear, "Though I cannot recognize a person by their face, when they speak they are as unique from me or you as can be. I can hear when a person breaths, or takes a step. I can listen to the movements of the wind to tell me of large or small a space is." he raised his hand to touch his cheek, "Though my eyes cannot tell me, my touch can give me the details of a person's features. I carry within my mind the faces of my loved ones, imprinted upon my fingers so that I could never forget."

He lowered his arms, looking in the direction of the apparent ghost girl, his eyes still closed and a smile still on his lips, "Even if my eyes are closed, I can still see you clearly as if I had sight. I can hear you when you speak, feel the chill of your touch and the brush of your hand. I can hear the sadness in your song, and I can see that there is more to you than many might give you credit for." Ethan touched his closed eyelids, laughing, "I believe it is not I who is handicaped, but those who must rely on their sight are the ones who are truly blinded. For, though the see the world, they cannot see what is truly within it."

Fubuki Kouri

Kouri stopped fidgeting when she heard the man laughed, not just any laugh, but a good-natured relaxed laugh, his talented voice ringing through the air. Then, he explained about his handicap, but it did not deter his determination in the slightest, in fact, he considered his blindness as a blessing. He could see what other people cannot see, he could feel what other people cannot feel, it's as if the world opened itself up to the man who cannot 'see' as other people do.

During his explanation, Kouri had an expression full of awe, this man, this singer, was not afraid of her, ever since the beginning, he was comfortable with her and Kouri could feel that he truly meant it. She just kept silent as she listened to every word he said and Kouri knew, in her undead heart, that it was all true. His statements struck Kouri hard, She felt like no matter what condition you are in, it's your decision to take it as a curse or as a blessing, it applied to her condition as a ghost as well.

"A-ah... I see... I see, you're right... I..... I... " Kouri was at a loss for words, as she just stood there, frozen in awe. "U-uhm... ah... S-sir..." Kouri felt like she must know this wise bard more for he could feel wisdom worthy of an oracle radiating from him. "I uuh... l-let me reintroduce myself... I'm Fubuki Kouri... i-it's a pleasure to meet you, Sir... m-may I know your name? Please..."

Ethan leaned down a bit so that he was closer to eye level, though he tilted his ear toward Kouri as he smiled a reply, "Fubuki Kouri. That is a beautiful name, and I am certain it belongs to a very beautiful girl."

With careful movements Ethan lowered himself back onto his knees, resting his walking stick across his lab as he folded his hands over the strangely useful object. Once he was settled he would look in the general direction of Kouri once more, "No plesae, the pleasure is all mine. It is not often that someone feels the need to speak with me, or even acknowledge my existence." He chuckled, looking toward and bowing his head at the stones, "I am Ethan Terran, and there is no need to call me sir. I am neither old nor honorable enough to hold such a title."

Ethan reached one hand forward to touch one of the stones, a solemn expression on his face, "Now if I might ask you a question, why have you come here this night? I pray you are not one who is honored in this garden, for if you are then I must apologize for not showing you the proper respect."

"Ah... uhm... Thank you, Sir... Ehehe~" Kouri sheepishly smiled and played with her hair ribbons as she accepted Ethan's compliment, though she can't help but wonder, how could he judge her face without... well... sight? Kouri didn't want to question Ethan further as it was impolite. Deciding that she would spend her night with the bard, Kouri sat down in front of Ethan as he introduced himself.

"Ehehe... It's a pleasure to see you, uhm... w-well, mama told me I must address an adult male acquintance as Sir... s-so, uhm... I want to call you Sir Ethan... ehehe, I insist~" Kouri then gazed at Ethan's face, his eyes bear a unique property to it, its color was milky blue, like a veil was covering them. I wonder... how ghosts like me see? Uhm... I seem to don't have anything inside me... Kouri then unmaterialized herself and phased her hand through her own chest just to make sure, and as expected, her hand passed through her body as if she was air. Sigh... oh well, not that it matters anymore...

"Now if I might ask you a question, why have you come here this night? I pray you are not one who is honored in this garden, for if you are then I must apologize for not showing you the proper respect."

Kouri was taken aback by Ethan's statement, she didn't expect for him to think she was one of the knights. "I uuh... I came here tonight to uuh... I... I don't know... I just felt like... I felt... kind of envious... these people, these knights... I wonder how they can... just 'pass on' like that? I don't get it... I know people will tell me that I'm... uuh 'dead', but I'm not dead, I'm here, aren't I? That means I'm alive. It's just not fair to call someone 'dead' just because they... uhm... have been killed before..."

"And no... Sir Ethan, I'm not honored here... I 'died'... in Falyndar Jungle... I can't even find my... corporeal body... I-I'm sorry, it's hard to talk about it... u-u-uhm!" Kouri quickly thought a way to change the subject as she was very uncomfortable talking about her own past. "W-what about yourself, Sir Ethan? Why did you come here tonight? Though... ehehe~ I'm happy I met you... I haven't met another singer for a long long time..."
