While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Raven was still trying to wrap her mind around how her day had changed so drastically in a matter of chimes. One moment she was on the long uneventful road to Nyka, the next she was fighting for her life against these grotesque creatures, which she still knew next to nothing about, except that they were trying to kill her...and were doing a good job so far.

The creatures were slowly surrounding her which was definitely not good, "Why did I agree to be the distraction?"
she asked rhetorically, a moment before jumping backwards to avoid another attack. Then came the man's voice, warning her to get down when he gave the signal. Raven was curious as to what this 'master plan' was, but she didn't exactly have the luxury of time for her to inquire.

Another slash from her left, causing Raven to jump right to avoid it and then she was on the ground. One of the monsters had literally tackled her and was now trying to BITE her face off with it's horrid fangs. Raven's body was filled with fear, this was it, she was dead. Then came the akalak man's voice in the distance signalling for her to get down, which she already was but not by choice. In those last few moments Raven managed to punch the horrid monster in the throat stunning it long enough for her to bend both legs and kick it off of her with all the strength she could muster.

There was a bright flash which lasted only a second, accompanied by the screams of the creatures and then silence. After a few moments, Raven who had shut her eyes in fear slowly opened them and searched her surroundings for the beasts. Still breathing heavily she pushed herself up off the ground and looked around, what was left were smoking corpses of the monsters that had JUST been trying to kill her. "It worked." she said, she was amazed at the sheer power of whatever magic he had used, a single spell and all the monsters were dead. Finally remembering her akalak saviour her gaze went to where she had last seen him. The akalak man was laying on the floor seemingly unconscious, a slight pang of worry filled Raven as she made her way over to him. Her body ached from over exertion but at least she was relatively unscathed, besides some minor scratches and bruises and perhaps some mental scarring.

Raven knelt down besides the akalak man as she tried to wake him up, slapping his face gently, but not before searching his belongings for anything that looked valuable. She noticed a peculiar looking hooked blade, it was unusual and probably worth a lot of mizas and so she slipped it between her back and her backpack so that it was concealed, she also found his coin purse which seemed sufficiently full, she threw a handful of mizas back into the akalak's bag as repayment for saving her life and pocketed the rest(60 Mizas). She noticed the familiar sound of a running horse approaching in the distance and sure enough there was a man on a horse, it didn't take long for her to flag him down and ask for a ride, to which the kind man obliged.

Raven returned her attention to the akalak man shaking him gently until he finally returned to his senses, "It worked." she said with a reassuring smile, "You okay?". Raven helped the massive man onto his knees with a lot of effort before rising to her feet. It was then that she noticed how attractive he was, large muscles, blue skin and...his eyes. His eyes were an unusual bright yellowish colour, even more unusual than her own. While Raven's eyes were a deep liquid gold, his were a more bright, like the sun. She shook her head trying to gather her thoughts, she couldn't afford to be swayed by one handsome man, just because he had saved her. Finally Raven bent over giving the akalak man a gentle kiss on the cheek, "Thank you." she said softly.

She made her way to the horse and got onto it, keeping her eyes trained on the akalak man, "See you around, handsome." she said with a smirk and just like that they were off. Galloping into the distance. "What were those things?" Raven asked the man, obviously referring to the beasts, well corspes that were sprawled across the area they had just come from. "They're called Yukmen and you're very lucky to have survived."...Raven found herself lost in thought of the monsters she had just barely survived and more importantly the man who had saved her life. "Yukmen..."

The Horde

Postby Aren on April 14th, 2013, 2:36 pm

Aren grumbled at this most cruel interruption of his nap, until his mind finally realized that he hadn't been napping at all. He had fallen unconscious for just a brief moment, but since he was still alive, that must have meant his plan had worked. Unless, of course, he was being awoken by the pain of having his bones gnawed on by monsters...

Hastily opening his eyes, the Akalak swiftly noticed that wasn't the case. He had been brought back to the land of consciousness by the girl he had been trying to save all along. Breathing a sigh of relief, Aren noticed that a traveler was approaching, possibly having been attracted the flash of the Reimancer's spell. His erstwhile partner promptly flagged the rider down, before returning her attention to the Akalak.

"Don't tell me you had any doubt?" The warrior queried, although the question was more rhetorical than anything else, as even he had doubted the success of his plan.

"I've been better," He managed to reply, getting to his knees (with the girl's help), and taking a glance at the havoc he had wreaked. Feeling particularly self-satisfied at the results of his spell, Aren almost managed to produce a smile. Unfortunately, even his face was tired. It was also kind of hurting, for some reason he couldn't properly identify; it wasn't like had taken any blows there.

As he focused on the girl's face for the first time, It was at this juncture that he was physically impacted by his new acquaintance's iridescent beauty. With raven hair, alabaster skin, and sun colored eyes a dim reflection of his own, the young woman's appearance seemed like something out of a fevered dream. Perhaps it was because his head was pounding like a war drum and he was incredibly exhausted, but all that didn't change what his eyes were seeing right now.

Absentmindedly bringing his hand up to the spot she kissed him on, the Akalak somehow fabricated a reply, "Y-yeah, any time," he whispered, still a bit shocked that this was the same person that had insisted HE come up with a solution to a problem SHE had gotten herself into. And yet... the fool still had just agreed to do it again. Oh well, it was totally worth it, he thought.

"I'll see ya," He called, after the girl had mounted the traveler's horse, but before they had gone too far.

In his enthrallment and fatigue, it was nearly half a bell before he realized what this odd feeling he was getting in the back of his mind actually was; his damn Lakan was riding away right along WITH her! Checking his pack with as much alacrity as his tired body would alloy, he noticed that wasn't even the full extent of it: she had taken most of his damn money too!

Trying to erect himself, but finding that his body simply did not wish to acquiesce, Aren found himself actually glad that she hadn't just stolen most of his coin. An Akalak could sense their Lakan wherever it was, and most merchants worth their salt wouldn't come near one with a ten foot pole, knowing that their owner was probably going to come looking for it sooner or later.

With this small bit of good news in hand, the warrior mustered all of his strength in order to get to his feet. He wasn't going far, just back to that tree where he had first encountered his thieving little friend. There, maybe he'd try to make some kind of camp, or maybe he'd just pass out again. Hopefully the former, as the countryside was clearly not very safe.

Great thread, plenty of action and inventive use of Reimancy, but remember you do need to ask permission to have ten yukmen roaming about in a thread and to self moderate that - I didn't see any permissions listed. Also, Raven, be careful not to overplay your skill with a whip. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grade, please send me a PM and we can work from there.
