[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Dalena Luxcia on June 16th, 2010, 8:25 am

Just as she predicted, many different types of people drew themselves near the table, which is exactly why she chose to sit there in the first place. The mouth-watering food filled the air. For those who were named low in caste would get the luxury they deserved for the first time. She too was named a low class, a Chiet really. Although they have been viewed to be well, a commoner. Without being married to a male of the Avora view, she was labeled just as low as the Dek. Not that she cared all to much about rank. The title she aimed for was an Endal. Not because it was the highest caste in their homelands, but she wished to tame an eagle of her own. She dreamed about being a hunter from the sky. What was any of their people without an Eagle? Their race was known to be hunters from the sky, and to tell someone they didn't have one seemed like a disgrace which was sad since majority of their people didn't have one.
The fruit remained satisfying within her mouth. She moved on from the fruit to some sort of bread as an appetizer before she moved onto whatever else was served.
Her sea green orbs watched the different people approach, and how easily they were absorbed into conversation. None seemed to take acknowledgment to her presence, which didn't bother her. The medallion she wore felt like it weighed a ton, something she wasn't used of but she ignored it.
Her gaze caught a female, one that seemed quite lost in her eyes. Definitely not the first. Being the people watcher she was, she was slightly intrigued with her ways. Slightly a clutz but it only entertained her much more.
It wasn't until she dumped wine on her clothes where Dalena took the situation more seriously.
This place was filled with different ranks, and those who were traditional, which many were, didn't seem too pleased with having to linger with the low caste. Dalena didn't see anything wrong with it, she knew that every person had to start somewhere, and this female wasn't from her race at all. A visitor of some sort. The color of her hair gave her away. Instead of being a red head, she had dark brownish hair. It sort of stuck out within the flamed heads that moved around.
With a sigh, Dalena stood up. She did take notice that this female was no older than herself. But what she did next surprised her. She followed the girl into the crowd. She wasn't too difficult to find, the only dark haired person she had seen yet. When she approached, she tapped the girl on the shoulder, still minding her distance.
Her hands reached up to her own throat as she untied the delicate bow laced around her throat. She slipped off the black cloak and held it out to the female.
"Here. It will cover the stain... I do also require it back after the festival, it is my only one." Even though she did a rather generous thing, her tone was mild, not much emotion shown. The only emotion was the need to protect. But her facial expression was more frustrated for an unknown reason.
That was something completely out of character for her, but Dalena understood to some point. She didn't want the girl to feel out of place more than she already did, if she did at all. Perhaps it was the thought of being alone in a crowd, and soon getting labeled as something you couldn't get rid of that drew Dalena's heart to soften. She knew what it was like. It could even be that the way the woman held herself up reminded her of her own sister. No way in hell would she allow her sister to embarrass herself. She still didn't know the reason for her actions, but it was too late to take them back. All she did was wait and see if this female to accept her cloak. If not, then she just made a complete fool out of herself. It wouldn't be the first time either... She mentally corrected herself.

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Rosalie Morganthe on June 16th, 2010, 4:43 pm

Rosalie noticed that everyone at the festival looked way different than she did when she was trying to conceal herself among them. She sighed, thinking that maybe she should just leave when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. When she turned around, she had a guilty look on her face, ready to apologize for being there and ruining one of their glasses. She was surprised when the girl held her cloak up to her. She slowly took the cloak and wrapped it around herself, the stain disappearing behind it.

"Umm... thank you... alot. I will get it back to you I promise."

Feeling a bit awkward, Rosalie decided to try and have a conversation with her. "Uh... so what is your name?"

She kept her head low, thinking that maybe she shouldn't have asked a personal question like that. Rosalie thought the frustrated look on the girl's face must have been because of her. She sighed again, ready for a scolding of some sort.

(( OOC- I'm sorry I didn't write much :( I just don't know what else to put. I hope this is enough for a good reply...))

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

All the time she had to wait seemed like forever and every passing minute she felt more retarded for standing there. She was thinking of a new case, to just forget the whole situation and run off and hopefully hide in some hole to burn out the embarrassment she was feeling now. During the entire debate within her head her facial expression didn't show the embarrassment she held just the usual irritated looking face that made her seem unapproachable. She knew that either way she would look either retarded for being turned down, or just a bitch for walking away. She was labeled as something no matter what she did. Just as she made up her mind to leave, since she would much rather be labeled the "bitch", the girl took the cloak much to her surprisment. She drew her attention back to reality, snapping her mind into place to focus on the situation at hand. When she received a thank you for her doing, she just gave a nonchalant shrug to brush it off. Really, the remark made her face heat up.
There was something about Dalena's personality that struck her as odd to those who got to see what her true self was. Behind closed doors, she was in fact quite the sensible girl, and often got embarrassed easily forcing the blood to rise to her face and settle on her cheeks. But her hard exterior normally didn't allow people to see that part of her.
Since she generously allowed herself to help someone, that opened the door a bit. A light tint of pink brushed against her cheeks. It was several shades brighter than her usual color but she turned her face to hide it, as if she was pretending to take notice to something else across the crowded area.
Desperately searching for something, the sea green orbs nested on a piece of artwork that was done by an Avora within their lands. While she attempted to keep her face a neutral color she studied the delicate intricate that was used for the glass work. She knew very well she wouldn't have the patience to make sure that the stained glass was all set into place. But then again, she had no idea what was needing to be done for it.
When the next response came up, she gave a side glance at the girl. Her head tilted back to face the female.
"Dalena Luxcia."
Short, simple. It wasn't too hard to tell that this girl was feeling slightly awkward. By this point the blush faded from Dalena's cheeks, but the touch was still lingering. "And yours?"
Her lips tilted into a sly smile. She got the vibe that this girl was uncomfortable with her un-friendly demeanor. To Dalena, it was the best part about people watching. She was normally the one to cause it which made it much more entertaining.

Fixing the cloak a little more so it covered up the stain more, Rosalie noticed that this girl was deliberately trying not to show that she was kind. She mentally laughed at the fact and decided to act a little more thankful just to break her shell some more. While thinking of more ways to do it, she looked at others who were acting sweet and kind. She was able to pick up some kind traits quickly from others.

She smiled more kindly when learning her name and spoke sweetly
"My name is Rosalie Morganthe." Quickly, she scrambled for something else to ask. "Do you have an eagle of your own?" While waiting for her response, Rosalie examined the crowd, looking for someone that might need the service of a Kelvic like herself. Unable to visually find someone, she began to feel a little hopeless and frustrated. It wasn't like she had all the time in the world. Her life-span was much shorter than the life-span of others.

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Dalena Luxcia on June 17th, 2010, 2:55 am

A perfectly shape brow arched at the gentle tone used. Is it just me or is she being friendlier? Her jaw tightened just lightly as she noticed the abrupt switch in her smile and her tone. She wasn't too comfortable with bitter-sweet people. To her, they were the hardest to trust. How were you suppose to trust someone who plays nice in front of a crowd. For those who kept a bitter personality in the open weren't afraid to show their true self, making it much more trustworthy in her eyes.
Before she allowed the topic to go unanswered for much longer, her lips parted. Then they shut, she wasn't sure what she was suppose to say to something like that.
"Er, nice to meet you... I think." Yeah, that works.
It really didn't take long for the next question to come up. Well that ruins my chances of escaping. She gave a mental sigh, but proceeded with answering whatever questions that came. Her lips pursed into a tight line which drew across her face.
Dalena's head shook, forcing the red hair to bounce around her shoulders. The next words that were to come out of her mouth was something she didn't wish anyone else to hear. But then again, there were many others in the same boat as she was.
"No. Not many do. Only certain castes within our race are allowed to have one, Endal. I am merely a Chiet. Often known as a commoner, but with my lack of marriage to an Avora, the way I am viewed as a Dek." She shrugged again. This time, it wasn't a pretend, she honestly didn't care about the caste. The only thing she dreamed about was getting an Eagle of her own. It was both hers and Ahndrinna's dream that they were suppose to pursue together.
Her arms grew tired slumped by her side. She brought them up to cross over her chest as she remained speechless for several more seconds.
"What brings you to Wind Reach?" It was about time she got to questioning, she was also afraid that the questions may get more personal. If that happened, then the whole neutral expression she had would fade in an instant. She disliked speaking of her past, and would do anything to keep it from anyone.

Postby Rosalie Morganthe on June 17th, 2010, 3:47 am

Noticing that Dalena was starting to get uncomfortable, she quickly eased up on the cheerfulness. That wasn't too difficult for her to do when she learned that only certain people were allowed to have an eagle of their own. Rosalie didn't think that was fair and that anyone who could take proper care of one of those great animals should be allowed to have one. She was starting to become even more frustrated with this place.
The question Delena asked didn't really surprise Rosalie, many logical people would have asked. Even she would have asked someone if they looked like they didn't belong.
"I'm here trying to find someone that needs the assistance of someone like me." She wasn't sure if what she had just said made any since at all, but she waited to see if the Inertia understood. Much of what Rosalie said didn't make since to others. She was used to one worded questions like "What?" and "Huh?" All of a sudden, she heard her own stomach growl. She rolled her eyes. I ate like ten minutes ago! Sighing, she looked over Delena's shoulder at the snack table and waited for a break in their conversation so she could get another big plate of food... and maybe not spill her wine everywhere this time.

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Aislinn on June 17th, 2010, 4:20 pm

Aislinn was making her way through the crowds of people when a man asked her to stop. She did startled until she realized he was a volunteer putting on the medallions. She turned and he put the medallion on her back. After that she looked around until she found the delicious wine table. While she wasn't one to drink much this was a celebratory day. It was also her last day with her people.

She walked to the table passing various castes of people and smiled at the dek who flirted with the artisians and endal. Finally she arrived at the table and poured herself a glass of wine. She saw a table open at the other side of the dance floor. Luckily a slow song played at that moment and she carefully crossed the dance floor without a single accident. She sat at the table enjoying the wine, mingling with whomever walked by, and people watching.

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Kovac on June 17th, 2010, 5:18 pm

The opening of the road to Thunder Bay was indeed a reason to celebrate, even for Kovac. New trade goods would arrive soon, and he could leave Wind Reach as he liked. Not that he planned on traveling down the long, steep winding roadway. It was just the idea that the only way out of Wind Reach had been with riders to hunt. He did not like relying on riders for anything.

The archer had decided to attend the festival, confirming almost out loud to himself that he didn't look forward to the gathering of so many people, but that it was his duty to go. He in fact had already done his part, serving with the hunting parties to obtain the variety of game served at the event. Nevertheless, he put on an open black vest, brushed off his black bryda and put on his boots. Heading towards the door, his hand pass over the talon sword leaning against the wall and grabbed the sheathed dagger hung next to it as a last thought.

The mixed blood entered the Stained Glass Gallery, the large hall decked out in even more color than the multi-hued windows regularly cast across the giant room. Music filled the air, as well as the drone of dozens of conversations spiked with occasional outbursts of laughter and general frivolity.

Kovac sighed. His spirit raised slightly at the sight of the wine casks. Intent on making the shortest line of travel to the beverage table, he balked when he felt a tug on the back of his vest. Twisting to look over his shoulder, a grinning freckle-faced little girl beamed up at him, having deftly pinned a wooden medallion to him.

"Are you serious?" he quipped, rolling his eyes at the youngster's attempt to recite the game rules to him in a squeaky little voice. "Okay honey, whatever..." he said sardonically, patting her head perhaps a little too firmly and resuming his trek.

A wonderful aroma caught Kovac's attention and he diverted his course toward the scents emanating from the expansive buffet. Grabbing a plate, Kovac grabbed generous portions of spiced meats and hunks of bread. His appetite had sapped his attention, and when his progress down the tables was halted by a collision with a slow moving woman, he let out an irritated "Ack!"

"I think slower traffic belongs down the other side of the table, sweetheart."
Kovac said with a wry grin. He quickly glanced over her. Her attire identified her as a Drudge instantly, though the use of a rope belt helped give her form some definition. The cane she clung too indicated the reason this unfortunate soul was Dek.

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Beau on June 17th, 2010, 7:38 pm

"Kellan," he said, throwing an arm over his rivals shoulder in a friendly gesture, "Show me someone who doesn't love the alcohol, and I'll show you a high class Cheit." Beau looked down into his cup, frowning that all of the wine was already gone, and thought about refilling it but finally rationalized it could wait until he finished the conversation. "I probably shouldn't, with trying to impress Alwin and all but...hey, I am who I am and I'm not anybody else, right?"

His eyes wandered down the table to linger on each person that approached and retreated into the crowd, or stuck around to munch on the foods. Some he knew, others he knew better and wiggled a few fingers at them, others he only knew by name alone and their class profession. As big as Wind Reach was, the populace was relatively small and secluded, knowing other people's business was a cultural past time. At least it was for him and his mother. "Lots of people out tonight huh?.....Lots I'd like to get to know." He tried to hide the small smirk teasing the corners of his lips. "But then again the cold season is over, and thank the fair winds for it! It's about time we get out in the sun and enjoy the warm air."

They both fell silent again as Beau followed Kellan's gaze into the crowd before them. It was almost like anyone could reach out and snatch the excitement out of thin air. Things might not always be easy in his home but every drop of sweat, blood, and tears were worth living on Skyinarta. He heard his own thoughts echoed by Kellan's comment and he nodded in agreement. "Too right mate. Tell you what, when we're both properly drunk we'll have a toast to this place. Right now my cup needs a healer, it's all bled out." He clapped the other boy on the shoulder and started to walk away but halted and turned around quickly, gesturing to the medallion on his back. "Oh yeah, hey, does it enjoy sunlight?"

[Wind Reach] The First Thaw Festival

Postby Kellan Lucia on June 17th, 2010, 8:08 pm

Kellan enjoyed talking to Beau, especailly because they shared a love of alcohol. As Beau turned to walk away he asked if the picture on his medialion enjoyed the sunlight. Kellan didn't know how to phrase it "It needs sunlight if that makes sense". He watched as Beau walked away and then headed over to the food table. He had not eaten since lunch so he decided now, while there was free food was as good a time as ever to eat. As he approached he spotted the Dek from before in the communal kitchens. He didn't want to talk to her again but he saw another person slightly pestering her. That made Kellan smile. He had found another person who shared his past time, pestering the drudges.

So with that Kellan was alone again looking for a person to converse with. He decided to head to the food table and get some food. All the rarest and most delicious foods were here in honor of the first thaw festival.

Daylight again, following me to bed
I think about a hundred years ago, how my fathers bled
I think I see a valley, covered with bones in blue
All the brave soldiers that cannot get older been asking after you
Hear the past a calling, from Valterian's side
When everyone's talking and no one is listening, how can we decide?
